Chapter 135 - Beneath the Statue(21)

Cades looked at the finished work.

After all had been said and done he had added some aesthetics, and in his opinion it looked wonderful, only waiting for him to add even more functions, especially considering the fact that he had, in the end, not added the telekinesis spell he wanted to add because he didn't end up having enough mana stones after he had remembered some of the other required functions and had used the magnetization spell in the end that had allowed his new arm to, almost seamlessly, stick to his body.

It was sleek and black, ornated with countless decorations, most of which were false runic sequences that resembled those on the inside, a small thing he had added to show just how much work he had put in there, though he wasn't sure who he would show it to, he couldn't exactly show it to the ant on the tree that had long since crawled away from the giant that was smiling like a mad demon and working on the same thing, the corpse of an even more gigantic monster for over a day.

From the form it was almost the same as his other arm and hand, aside from small differences in size as he began to realize just a tiny bit later with some disappointment at the hours of hard work he had put into this arm, into his masterpiece, into something that was supposed to be almost without flaws, flaws that he had already started to see, flaws such as the small mistake in proportions, a mistake, he assumed, in using the dirt and not something else, and then there was the fact he hadn't even been able to make exactly what he wanted, with the magic spell missing.

But either way, it looked as a normal arm, aside from small places, especially his hands where the fingers and all of the movable parts were separated by the spheres he had previously made, the same kind of method he had used for his arms to curl up and for his shoulder to move, but those had been added on as part of the bones, something that he had forgotten at first but remembered later after he was almost done, though luckily not after the assembly.

The hand looked like a false one, that was certain, but Cades looked at it, he infused mana into one of the valves, just as he had planned, and as it clenched together, he began to feel the pressure in his right arm, he began to feel the tension, not because of some kind of magic, no, Cades could almost feel that it was actually real, he almost knew that something was there.

His own body was now beginning to, almost reflexively, send mana into the contraption, just as it had done when he had his old arm, right where his new one now resided, and Cades slowly began to realize why they did this, why he felt what happened, Cades slowly began to decipher everything that had just happened as soon as he had finally put his new arm to use, as soon as he had clenched his fist..

Phantom pain. His body knew that there was supposed to be something, it had only been stopped from sending mana because the mind had told it to stop, but now that the mind thought that there was a arm as well, no, as soon as it knew that, mana was sent through the arteries, somehow evading the valves and strengthening the thing, sensing around, exploring it's new limp, it's new home, and sending feelings back, not pain, not sight, no, but he could feel his new arm in a certain way, and because of the phantom pain he had previously cursed at he could feel it even more whenever it was within his field of sight, though that was smaller than a normal person's after the loss of his right eye.

It was intriguing, he had never even thought about artificing in such a way, about artificing in addition to the body instead of just using it as a base, but now that he really fought about it he had used a similar method before, he had used it on his earring that had been able to turn him invisible, though that one had sadly been lost.

To Cades this was an entire new army of ideas that was now marching up within his mind, saluting to him and dancing on his desire to make more, but for now he wanted to test it, and as such he decided to swing his sword that was still thrust into the dirt a bit, gripping it surprisingly well and even being able to turn around his hand as well as his shoulder to grip it, despite this taking a bit more time, but that time was very much worth it in Cades' opinion.

He swung the sword, and every time he did so he could hear the wind be cut, he could feel the blade moving himself and even some of the dirt hidden between the gravel began to rise, dancing within the wind and showing grace as he had almost forgotten about, or rather, they showed a little bit of grace, which was more than he had seen in a long time, and as such even that little bit now seemed as a lot to him.

Either way, Cades smiled as he looked ahead, towards the other island, one covered in red trees with white leaves, the exact opposite as this island and perhaps part of why they were so close together, and decided to try it all out and explore a little bit, smiling in the process and awaiting the result of whether or not he could warp with it on.

But before he could do that everything suddenly went white and he fell down, somehow avoiding being cut apart by the still sharp glass stones that seemed as dark as onyx, not that it mattered now as he had seemingly lost conscience without even really realizing it.

And as he laid there, there resounded a sound, a singular step. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
