Contract Marriage: Abusive Love with Mr.CEO-Chapter 406 - 216: Reluctant to Let Go 1
Mrs. Geoffrey still tried to persuade, "Becca..."
Rebecca Quentin interrupted Howard Geoffrey, "Aunt Clare, you don’t have to say any more... If I pretend to be unaware and stay with Howard, I don’t think I will ever truly be happy."
Mrs. Geoffrey slumped onto the edge of the bed, unsure of what to do.
A few minutes later, Mrs. Geoffrey walked out of the room with the untouched soup.
Mrs. Geoffrey was so lost in her thoughts that she didn’t notice Howard walking towards the room.
It wasn’t until Howard called out "Mom" that Mrs. Geoffrey looked up in a daze, "Howie."
Howard noticed the untouched soup in Mrs. Geoffrey’s hand, furrowed his brow, and asked, "She won’t drink it?"
Mrs. Geoffrey nodded, "She seems determined."
Howard gently supported Mrs. Geoffrey and comforted her, "Mom, don’t worry, I assure you that everything will be fine with her and me."
"You shouldn’t have kept it from me..."
"Hmm?"
"Becca wants to get rid of the baby..."
Howard chuckled lightly, "Such matters aren’t just up to her, Mom, it was said in the heat of the moment."
With tears in her eyes, Mrs. Geoffrey looked up, "She doesn’t seem to be speaking in the heat of the moment... Howie, let Mom tell Becca the truth!"
Howard’s face immediately darkened, "I forbid it!!"
Mrs. Geoffrey moved Howard’s hand, choking up, "Howie, Mom is old, there’s not much to live for, even if the rest of life is spent in prison, it doesn’t matter..."
Howard’s handsome face turned stern, and he deeply said, "I forbid you from saying such things... I said, I’ll resolve things with Becca, and since I’ve decided to be with her, I’m mentally prepared for today. All you need to do is take care of Andrew during our unpleasant days, and I promise Becca and I will reconcile soon."
Mrs. Geoffrey, filled with guilt, said, "Son, Mom doesn’t want to ruin your happiness, Mom..."
Howard consoled, "Don’t say such things... patiently wait for me to resolve this, okay?"
Mrs. Geoffrey shook her head in grief.
Howard coaxed with a smile, "Don’t you want to live surrounded by grandchildren? You already have a lovely grandson, and in a few months, Becca will give you a granddaughter. By then, both children will surround you, calling you grandma all day..."
Imagining such a beautiful scene, Mrs. Geoffrey finally smiled through her tears.
Howard also sighed in relief, finally reassuring her, "You must trust your son."
Mrs. Geoffrey nodded, her heart slightly easing, "You should go see Becca..."
"Hmm."
"By the way, Christine Quinn came over earlier and talked to Becca about Aunt Clare’s matter. I think Becca now..." Mrs. Geoffrey returned to a worried expression.
"I know."
"Christine said she would come over again to accompany Becca tonight, do you think we should stop her?"
Howard replied indifferently, "No need, I think it’s better for her to have company now than being alone with troubling thoughts."
"Alright."
After talking with his mother, Howard walked into his room.
He reached out to turn the doorknob as usual, but as his hand held the knob, he hesitated again.
Her words at the hospital flashed through his mind—
We can’t be together anymore...
His heart still ached from the tug.
At this moment, Howard’s hand left the doorknob, choosing to turn away.
She certainly wouldn’t want to see him now; in her unsettled state, his presence would only provoke more emotional turmoil...
It’s better to leave her some time alone!
However, Howard stopped shortly after leaving.
Without knowing when she had become so deeply rooted in his heart, he couldn’t bear to let her out of his sight for even a moment...
He yearned to be alone with her, even in the current tense situation.
His tall figure turned back, and Howard placed his hand on the doorknob again.
But this time, he still lacked the courage to turn the knob...
He could already imagine the emotions she would display upon seeing him—questions, accusations, tears...
His own heart had times when it couldn’t bear it...
Turning away once more, Howard eventually chose to leave, leaving her with peace and quiet.
The silent night.
In the "Skytop Group" president’s office, a solitary figure stood coolly by the floor-to-ceiling window.
Howard held a glass of amber liquid in his hand, gazing at the already slumbering T City.
