Boundless Cultivation-Chapter 91 - Seven Against One
Alaric raised his shield in a flash, reinforcing it with multiple layers of mana. The biodome laboratory turned into a warzone, with fiery explosions erupting every few seconds accompanied by the rattle of gunfire rounds and the whoosh of missiles.
The violet dome protecting Alaric held strong even under the flood of chaos that washed over it. The Alpha cyborgs were powerful, but he had grown formidable as well. So far, their attacks hadn’t been anything more than a nuisance.
So, this is the culmination of decades of technological advancement and research? He thought grimly. No matter how he thought about it, he couldn’t condone sacrificing thousands of humans and animals for conducting vile experiments.
And for what? Creating super soldiers? Making oneself more powerful? Immortality? A violent desire to destroy these creatures took root inside his heart - creatures that imitated humans in form only with no resemblance to their humane nature.
Brushing off the initial salvo, he dropped his shield and formed two violet spheres of condensed mana in his palms. One of the enemies activated its shoulder-mounted heavy missile pods and fired a cluster of homing missiles.
Unfurling his grip, Alaric unleashed his own set of mana missiles, each no larger than a firefly yet packing tremendous lethality.
Thousands of mana missiles swarmed his form, some veering off to intercept deadly missiles in their tracks while the remaining rained hell on the enemies.
Colorful barriers encased the Alphas. The mana missiles burst through the magnetic shields of Alpha #7 and Alpha #8, scorching their flesh and melting the metallic alloy that formed their frame. The higher Alphas withstood the blow, but not without suffering mild damage.
I will show you the power of humanity - the unlimited potential of cultivation.
It was seven against one, and he saw no reason to hold back. Activating [Zen Flow] to the limits, he forged two mana swords gleaming violet, with the expertise of his [Superior Mana Manipulation] ability. freewebnσvel.cøm
The world slowed down to a crawl as his concentration heightened to extreme levels. Before the advanced cyborgs could react, he launched himself at his first target - Alpha #8.
The weakest of the humanoid cyborgs split open its forearms, spewing rapid-fire rockets. It was futile. Splitting the ordinances with his mana swords was child’s play to him. In a fraction of a second, he bisected Alpha #8 diagonally - neck through torso.
He darted to his next target just before the damaged energy cell exploded, consuming the mutilated cyborg in the process.
The higher Alphas scrambled to intercept him but couldn’t get any edge over him. Not only was he faster with potent mana empowering his body, he predicted their every move - thanks to his [True Vision] ability.
The gorilla Alpha pounded on its chest, revealing two chest flaps that fired a swarm of micro missiles. Alaric unleashed another volley of mana missiles.
A fine mist of red and violet collided, rocking the whole region. The heat and shockwave harmlessly dissipated over his shield.
Alpha #7 unleashed a barrage of strikes just as he reached it. Slow. Alaric sliced off sections of its limb with each swing before severing the head from its body. Surprisingly, the husk of metal and flesh still radiated energy.
So he tore through its chest, yanked the battery cell free, and hurled it at Alpha #3 - the crocodile cyborg. It swiped the energy cell with its massive tail, sending it crashing into the ceiling of the dome where it detonated with a thunderous blast.
Without the energy core powering it, Alpha #7 finally collapsed. Suddenly, a blast of shockwave slammed into his side, staggering him for a split second.
He smiled, swallowing the sharp, ringing noise that pierced through his mind and threatened to disorient him. Focusing his mind, he reoriented his senses. A few drops of blood trickled down his nose, but the minor damage was already healing.
Alaric dodged to the side just as another shockwave hit the spot he had occupied moments ago. This time, he identified the culprit - Alpha #2. The overgrown reptile opened its massive jaw, releasing an earth-shaking roar when it failed to wound him.
“I will get to you, lizard,” he said, scowling, before launching a mana blast at it. “Wait for your turn.”
Burning a hefty portion of mana, he erected a massive barrier, separating the rest of the cyborgs from Alpha #6.
“Yeah, why don’t you try fighting me one on one?” He chuckled, taunting it to attack him. The intelligent cyborg looked equally offended and uncertain, slowly glancing at him and inspecting the violet barrier that had withstood the blows of its superior brethren.

Its fingers snapped together, slowly morphing into a metallic blade. Alaric noticed the cyborg channel a hefty portion of its energy, superheating it until it glowed orange, radiating intense heat.
Arrogance gleamed in its intelligent eyes. The cyborg leaped at him, confident in its own superiority against a human. A huge mistake.
Alaric’s mana sword clashed with the cyborg’s own, showering sparks in the air. But the stalemate didn’t last for long. Channeling a little more mana, he leaned forward, slicing through the superheated sword.
It seemed whatever programming governed the cyborg prioritized its survival over engaging a threat. Or perhaps it was a tactical retreat. Launching a few flash grenades, it attempted to flee.
Of course, the trick was painfully obvious to Alaric. In his true vision, he spotted the cluster of grenades igniting inside its body before launch. Alaric closed his eyes a split second before a blinding white light engulfed the whole region.
Another few pops later, a thick smokescreen billowed around him - poisonous smoke grenades.
But none of it fazed him. Adjusting the intensity of his vision was easy with his ocular ability and his reforged lungs completely filtered the toxic fumes in the air.
Dismissing his mana swords, he snapped his fingers, discharging an arc of electricity. It instantly zipped toward Alpha #6, momentarily stunning it. His mastery over his bloodline power had improved drastically, but it took a toll on his body.
Aside from serious battles, he refrained from using it. A crashing noise pulled his attention to the remaining cyborgs. It amused him to witness their joy when they managed to shatter his mana barrier.
Oh well, time to end this. Drawing another huge chunk of his mana, he encased his whole body in liquid mana, which slowly solidified into violet armor. Just as the stunned cyborg recovered, he planted a fist into its gut and out the other side.
Sparks wracked its body as blood and oil flowed from the corners of its mouth. He pulled out his arm and kicked the mangled body of Alpha #6 at its comrades. Anticipating the danger, all of them dispersed before it exploded into a burst of flames, showering metal and flesh chunks everywhere.
Alaric pivoted, locking fingers with the gorilla cyborg that had attempted to catch him off guard. The sheer weight of Alpha #4 drove his feet to the ground.
Suddenly, a translucent shield engulfed both of them, amplifying the gravitational pull on his body by several folds. So you think you can overpower me? Alaric chuckled.
The remaining Alphas threatened to gang up on him from all directions. Without any time to waste, Alaric cycled a drop of root chakra, empowering his body further.
Raw power coursed through his body, generating a cyclone of emotions. The pressure of the force field surrounding him drastically waned, allowing him to breathe freely once again.
Alaric tightened his grip, effortlessly shattering the gorilla’s fist. It roared in pain. He elbowed it in the mouth, caving its whole face and putting a stop to its roar.
The gorilla cyborg attempted to open its chest flap and shower him with a volley of micro missiles once again. Unfortunately for him, Alaric was already a step ahead. Placing his palm on its head, he discharged a torrent of electricity.
A magnetic force field flared from its core, temporarily diminishing the power of the attack before a component inside its core overloaded and ruptured.
Spiral arcs of yellow lightning coursed through its body, charring flesh and melting the metallic alloy reinforcing its body before he let go.
The cyborg still twitched, but it was out of the fight. Alaric created some distance to evade the attacks of the remaining Alphas before hurling a mana blast at Alpha #4, detonating its battery cell.
Only three cyborgs remained, all eyeing him warily, reconsidering their approach. Alaric engaged them all at once, eager to extract every insight from their extreme physiology.
Between dodging missiles, sonic blasts, and lethal body slams, he thoroughly inspected their reforged bodies. The revelations he gained from their fine craftsmanship opened new doors for infusing mana into his flesh.
Alaric couldn’t contain his excitement but didn’t let it distract him for a second. He created another barrier to isolate the sabertooth Alpha from its brethren. The overgrown cat lunged at him, but he stopped it in its tracks by seizing its two elongated sickle-shaped canines.
Alpha #5 snarled, mercilessly swinging its massive paws. Chunks of solidified mana flaked off his body armor, but the sharp claws never managed to scratch the flesh beneath.
“Why so impatient?” Alaric laughed in delight as he tore out the teeth, eliciting a painful groan from his victim. Before it could recover, he thrust his arms into its body and ripped out the energy cell powering it.
The battery burned hot under his grip, threatening to blast at any moment. “Here, you can have it back.” he chuckled, jamming the unstable energy core inside its mouth before bolting away.
A few seconds later, the battery exploded inside Alpha #5’s mouth, completely incinerating its body.
The massive crocodile cyborg finally burst through the barrier with a swipe of its tail. Alaric evaded its charge, retaliating with a series of mana blasts. A red shield enveloped its body, completely nullifying the power of his attack.
Forging two mana swords, he followed up the attack with a flurry of sword strikes, but they were equally ineffective at penetrating its shield.
The final animal cyborgs possessed far superior shields and reinforced armor that made damaging them more difficult. And no wonder, both had been engineered to match cultivators with over 95% mana potency.
The energy cells that powered their body felt different - more refined. No matter. None of his enemies would survive today.
While Alaric engaged the crocodile Alpha, the dinosaur Alpha was amassing huge energy, preparing to unleash a devastating attack.
He pulled another chunk of mana from its core, encasing his fists with tendrils of yellow lightning.
Let’s see how you fare with this attack. Alaric struck the barrier of Alpha #3 with a snap, generating a tremendous shockwave that rippled through the air. Arcs of yellow lightning raced across the red barrier, but it held firm.
His arm paused inches away from its body, repelled by a formidable force. Alaric clenched his teeth, pushing more mana into his attack. Scorching heat invaded his arms, flushing them pink as he slowly overpowered the red shield.
