Bloodmancer in the Jurassic Era: I use my Dinos to seduce Human mates-Chapter 207 - 100 Ton Dinosaur
Laylania walked Jimmy away from the lake, and towards the jungle.
She insisted that it was safer if only the two of them approached the dinosaurs in the jungle, because if they were attacked, protecting a whole group would be a lot more complicated than simply protecting themselves. It made sense, so he cooperated.
Jimmy had a good look at the lake a couple of minutes ago, and he understood why these shapeshifters were so passionate about protecting it. It was huge, for one thing. He assumed that it was at least three-hundred meters, or over a thousand feet wide.
In this large world, a lake like that may seem tiny, but the fact was that it was isolated, stashed at the edge of this large underground world, and its elevation was even a few meters higher than the rest of the jungle, which made it a bit more difficult for dinosaurs to step into it.
With the present situation excluded, shapeshifters didn’t have to fight dinosaurs everyday just to live here. They could simply relax, eat good food, and live life, so he understood why they wanted to protect their way of life. Compared to other, normal bodies of water, this lake was significantly safer to live in.
Anyway, as they walked into the jungle, it took little time to get within the vicinity of an Argentinousaurus, differently known as a Fatt-neck. They spotted it all the way from the lake, as it was a large creature, for one thing, and its head poked above the average jungle trees.
Jimmy felt a bit weird once he got close to it. They observed the Fatt-neck from an albeit safe distance, twenty meters, or over sixty feet away from it.
He felt weird, because even though this creature was big, humongous even, it still wasn’t as big as Rampage.
Rampage was the only Argentinousaurus he ever saw before today, so he was stunned to see how much smaller a normal Argentinousaurus was. It had to be at least a third smaller, according to his brief calculations, or comparisons.
Unlike Rampage who was thirty meters tall, and weighed an estimated one hundred and seventy tons, enough to cause small earthquakes if he wanted to, the Argentinousaurus he saw was twenty meters, or a solid sixty five feet tall, and couldn’t weigh more than one hundred tons.
With size differences like that, it was no surprise that he was weirded out. For a moment he even figured that this Fatt-neck wasn’t full grown yet, but its aging scales, and slow movements said otherwise. This was a full grown dinosaur without a doubt.
"Alright, I think I can handle him," He said. "He’s not as big as I expected him to be."
"No kidding," Laylania whispered, "Almara told us about the monstrous Fatt-neck you met her with. Did you tame him yourself?"
"No... my friend Zik did." He shook his head. "It’s a long story, but his pet isn’t exactly tamed. They just have a mutual understanding."
"Odd," She knitted her eyebrows, "Okay... I’ll let you focus now. If the fatty tries to trample us, I will pull you out of here."
"Smart plan," He nodded.
Afterwards, he focused his attention on the Argentinousaurus. He may seem confident, but the reality was that he was a little bit nervous.
Regardless of the size differences between it and Rampage, this was a monster nonetheless. It was a freak of nature that this jungle could not support, not for long, and likewise, he was afraid that its sheer size alone would knock him out.
Nevertheless, he took comfort in the fact that Laylania was here to pull him out of trouble if something was to go wrong, so he just got it over with, and tapped into its heartbeat.
Just as he suspected, its heartbeat nearly knocked him out. He had already heard it beating when he got here, and now that he was connected to it, its heart thudded so loudly in his head that he was almost sure that his ear drums were going to get blown up!
Thankfully, he survived the initial ’meet and greet’ but regardless of that fact, he was hesitant to tap into its brain now.
Its brain was not as big as its heart, he knew that, but he was running out of mana, so he was sure that he could not tame this beast even if he tried. It blew away twenty percent of his mana when he just tapped into its heartbeat, and since he was left with just ten percent of mana afterwards, taming it was all the more impossible.
"Lalalulu... I don’t have enough mana to... tame it." He mumbled, half conscious at this point. "Do you want me to just scare it away?"
"Laylania," She corrected him. "And... no, I already tried scaring it away, but it came back."
"Trust me..." He grunted. "If I scare it away, it won’t come back."
Laylania was hesitant, but considering the fact that every second counted right now, she caved, and nodded. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
With the greenlight given, he tapped into its brain, and tried to analyze it as little as possible, just so he could preserve what was left of his mana.
As of now, his enthusiasm about this underground world was blown out of the water. Because if one Argentinousaurus could burden him like this, then perhaps he was not ready to explore what else this world had to offer.
Anyway, he decided that the easiest, most cost effective way to scare this monster away was to plant a horrid thought in its brain, one that it would remember.
Jimmy tried to ignore the fact that its brain weighed more than him, and planted the thought.
Specifically, he painted an image of a much greater monster, an aquatic dinosaur, that supposedly lived in the lake behind him. He figured that the best way to scare an animal this big, was to threaten its very life with what ’could’ be lurking in the waters. He painted a creature in its mind, one that could snap its head clean off if it bent down to drink water!
After he planted the thought, his mana was drained clean. He was down at zero percent, so he was as vulnerable as ever, powerless for at least ten minutes, so he was really counting on the protection that Laylania promised him.
Thankfully, once he was forced to let go of its mind because of his depleted mana pool, the Argentinousaurus started backing away. It slowly walked away, and eventually disappeared into the jungle.
"Darn... I can’t believe you did it." She expressed, satisfied, relieved. "Good job, kid!"
"Thanks," He held his head, trying to rub the headache away. "I hope that saved your lake, because I’m fresh out of mana."
