Chapter 93: Ch 93: The Truth Comes out - Part 2

The high priest’s sudden action caused everyone to turn toward him. But he only paid attention to Prince Kaiden’s actions.

"A curse? Well, how lucky. I also have the perfect remedy for curses. I went on the hero’s journey to get the ’cure-it-all’ for Sera, and I was lucky enough to get more than needed. I never found time to give it to her until now. Luckily, both Shuu and she can take it now."

Prince Kaiden’s smile never faded from his face as he spoke, but both Count Diltz and the Head Priest looked nervous.

’Tsk, does he know? But how could he know?’

They both had the same question in their minds as they looked at Prince Kaiden. It was clear to them that somehow, someway, the truth had come out, and they had not been ready to bear the burden of it.

"W-What do you mean? Are you suspecting that Lady Sera is under a curse? What if her body is not able to take the medicine’s burden...? Then what-"

"Then we will cross the bridge when it comes. For now, why don’t we try this medicine?" 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Prince Kaiden smiled at the pair, and they immediately tried to find another way to get out of this mess.

But Lady Sera ruined all their plans with her stubbornness.

"I agree. I will take this medicine if it means that the truth will come to light and you will realize that you are my destiny."

Prince Kaiden’s smile was one filled with satisfaction, but her father and the high priest were cursing her in their minds.

’What are you doing, you stupid girl! Don’t you realize what is happening?’

But since they could not say it out loud, and they had never told Sera the truth, there was no way for her to know what she should and should not be doing.

Prince Kaiden pushed the vial toward her, and she grabbed hold of it. She drank it first, and for a whole minute, nothing happened.

"See, it is not-"

Then suddenly, pain took over her body, and color began to melt from her form. The heat threatened to eat her alive, and she shivered through it.

"S-Save me-! It hurts. It hurts so badly-"

She cried as everyone watched. And in no time, the one who stood in front of them was a lady with brown hair and brown eyes.

Her features clearly marked her as Lady Sera, but she no longer had the unique colors she used to have.

"W-What happened...? Brown hair? Why brown...? No-! Don’t look at me. This is not me...! I refuse. T-This is all your fault-!"

She lunged toward Shuu, but never made it to him as guards caught her midway.

Everyone watched in stunned silence as she was taken out of the court, and Prince Kaiden let out a disappointed sigh.

"So, do you have anything to say for yourself?"

He asked Lady Sera’s father and the high priest. Both looked like they had swallowed a lemon.

But the high priest was the first one to make an excuse.

"I apologize. I was so hyper-fixated on the prophecy that I did not even notice what was going on around me. I will make sure this does not happen again."

Everyone knew that it was an excuse, and they all felt curious about what the prince would do.

"Hmm, it’s alright. Everyone makes mistakes. I will give you one more chance to make up for your mistakes."

He told the high elder, who nodded.

The high elder had no idea why Prince Kaiden had decided to look the other way, but he was thankful for it nonetheless.

But it was different for Count Diltz.

"Now, what should I do with you? I am not stupid enough to believe that you did not know anything about it. So, do you have any last words for me?"

Prince Kaiden asked, only for the man to try and make a run for it.

Unfortunately, he was caught within seconds.

"Hmm, it seems like you have no remorse for any of this. Then this is goodbye-"

"Do you truly think you won? T-That person told me that your destiny is dead. You will never find-"

Prince Kaiden pressed his sword into Count Diltz’s body, and the man collapsed, finally dead.

"Tsk, he talked too much. Shuu, you should not see all this... Shuu-!"

Prince Kaiden cried as he watched Shuu suddenly cough blood and collapse. Everyone around him panicked and looked at each other.

"What happened-?"

Poison?"

"No way-! Was the tea party-"

"But who-"

People were loud, and Prince Kaiden’s head throbbed. He immediately raised his voice to make sure everyone was able to hear him loud and clear.

"Be quiet. Danielle, take charge of looking after Caelis for now. I will take Shuu back to my room. Liam, bring me another cure-it-all right now."

Prince Kaiden ordered, and people quickly did as he asked. No one wanted to question him or test him as he moved around.

It was chaotic all around, and in this mess, one child lay unnoticed.

Lady Sera’s unnamed child was lying on the sofa and went unnoticed until a maid managed to spot him.

"A child...? Is he...?"

The silver hair of the child was a dead giveaway for who he was. But the maid felt conflicted about what to do with him.

After all, the child was nobility and maybe even part of the imperial family. She could not just leave him be, but she could not possibly raise him either.

’What do I do? What do I do-?’

In the end, she decided to take the baby back to Lady Sera’s wing. Someone would find him and take care of him... she was sure of that...

’B-But what if the baby dies like this? I... that won’t be right. I wish someone was here to help me out.’

Unfortunately, things had gotten complicated, and she did not know what she could do about it anymore.
