A doctor arrived before Liam did, and Prince Kaiden immediately sent him to Shuu’s side.

The doctor examined him and shook his head.

"It seems like this was a fast-acting poison. I can give your companion the antidote, but he will need a few days to rest and recover."

The doctor told the crown prince just as Liam brought the cure-it-all.

"Prince Kaiden, here. You can have it... Prince Kaiden...? Are you not going to give Shuu the medicine?"

Liam took a look at Prince Kaiden’s face, and he flinched. His eyes looked dark, and he could not see any light inside them. Still, he bravely handed the crown prince the medicine, only for Prince Kaiden to drop it.

The medicine only survived due to Liam’s quick reflexes.

’What the hell-! What if Prince Kaiden does-!’

Liam made the mistake of looking up once more, and his insides felt cold.

"The longer Shuu remains sick, the longer I can keep him in bed. That way, I can keep an eye on him and make sure he’s safe, right? Maybe I should lock him up as well for some time... just to make sure he’s truly safe..."

Prince Kaiden had an almost sinister smile on his face as he talked about locking Shuu up. He looked so happy that no one wanted to say anything to him and cause his mood to sour.

Even Liam did not feel like it was safe for him to open his mouth.

"A-Anyway, about the kid..."

He asked, and Prince Kaiden just smiled at him.

Liam had a feeling Shuu would not like it, but he still nodded and allowed Shuu to deal with Prince Kaiden. He was no longer going to get involved in this mess.

"Alright, I will inform her."

He felt like he was forgetting something, but he was sure it was going to be alright in the end.

After all, if it was truly that important, then someone would bring it up to him later anyway.

The high priest ran toward his room in the main temple and closed the door behind him. His heart thundered inside his chest as he slowly calmed down.

The faint voice of his master whispered inside his mind, and the high priest quickly tried to explain himself.

"I have not failed yet. Lady Sera’s child is still alive, and we can still try again-"

Blood began to pool around the man’s throat before the high priest died.

A transparent body appeared in front of him and looked down at him with an almost remorseful expression on her face.

The female spoke to the dead body before she straightened her back.

She opened her palm, and a white light filled the room. It slowly condensed into a white sphere, and the white form looked at it with an almost longing gaze.

The ball showed Shuu’s sleeping face, only for it to turn dark.

Unseen hands started to pull her back, and the white mass let out a sorrowful expression.

"You will come back to me one way or another. That demon king cannot keep you hidden away from me forever. And this time, I will make sure we won’t be separated."

The white mass promised as the world took her form over and sent her back to where she came from.

There had been a time when that white phantom had ruled the world as its only goddess. But then, the demon had arrived and stolen her treasure, tearing her world apart. Not only had it soiled her treasure, but it had always threatened to drown the world.

So she had used all her power to seal the demon.

But the demon had been too cunning and had left a part of itself behind. In her weakened state, she had failed to notice, and when she did, it was too late.
