Chapter 304: 304: VOL 2: The Imperial Military Academy

"The Imperial Military Academy...?" Eden asked.

"Yes. I don’t know why, but that’s the clue I got. That he’ll be there. And so I suppose we’ll have to go to the Imperial City and to the Military Academy if we wish to find him," Lenny said.

Eden nodded. "Then I guess we’ll have to start making preparations to head over there. I have to find him as soon as possible and get answers. Maybe then I’ll be able to head back home."

He was hopeful. At least there was progress in his attempt. He had gotten back his powers and the memories of the Wizard of El, and now he had a central clue to finding the final answers to his ultimate questions:

Why he was here, and how he could go back.

Things were seemingly going his way, and he was happy about it.

A knock came on their chamber door.

Lenny and Eden turned to stare at it.

"Hello?" Eden said.

"The lord wishes to have you down for dinner," came a lady’s voice. They guessed it was a maid.

"Dinner," Eden repeated. He guessed it was night. "We’ll be there briefly."

Soon, the lady was gone.

"So, what now?" Lenny stared at him. "What do you plan on doing?"

"Definitely not wasting time here. I’ll go down and dine, and probably tell him about my departure to the Imperial City tomorrow and my plans. He has some connections, so I believe he could be of help," Eden explained.

Lenny nodded. "So you’re leaving tomorrow?"

"Yeah. Most certainly. I have to make sure I find him fast. I can’t waste any time," Eden said.

"Okay then. If you say so," Lenny agreed.

The two of them were done discussing before they made their way down for dinner.

They were certain Adrian was already waiting for them. But as soon as they arrived, Eden was rather shocked to see someone else at the dining table.

Someone he most certainly didn’t expect to see at all.

"Helen?" he found himself saying as he made his way to sit opposite Adrian. His eyes were still on Helen, who sat there with them at the table.

Helen looked up at him with a smile. "You’re finally awake. How are you feeling?"

Eden was still shocked. "What are you doing here? How are you here?" Eden couldn’t help but wonder if the author had successfully altered the plot of the book and Adrian and Helen had gotten married or something. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Because that was the only possible answer his mind could provide as to why the two of them were here together.

Helen smiled. "Am I not supposed to be here?"

Eden wanted to say yes, but he simply stared at Adrian, who casually said, "You don’t have to be jealous. I still have eyes only for you, so I have nothing going on with her," he teased.

"I’m not talking about that... I’m..." Eden stared at Helen again. But this time Adrian explained.

"You should be grateful to the person who saved you from getting caught. She saved you before those soldiers could find you."

Eden blinked. "Huh? How is it..." He hesitated, trying to make it all make sense. "How did she save me? Why did she save me...? How...?"

Adrian smiled. "What? You don’t think she can save you?"

Eden didn’t mean to be doubtful or anything, but it didn’t make sense that Helen saved him. It just didn’t make sense with the plot.

"Well, it happened that way. She saved you and brought you back. So the Wizard of El should say thank you now," Adrian smiled.

Eden blinked, still staring at Helen, who was enjoying her meal. He was still confused. None of this was like the plot. None of this made sense. He couldn’t help but wonder how astray the author had gone with the story.

"You went missing after the banquet, so Master was looking for you everywhere, even in his poor physical state. I knew I had to find you for him, and so I did," Helen casually explained.

"Master?" Eden stared at her, confused. That was what he caught from her sentence. "Who are you calling master...?"

"Me, of course," Adrian said.

"Why?" Eden was seriously losing the plot here.

Adrian smiled. "You certainly don’t know..."

"It’s a long story, but..." Helen said, "that’s how it ended up. He’s my master, and he taught me some skills. So... I’m loyal to him."

Eden blinked. A lot had happened behind his back in this storyline, and he was seriously losing touch with things.

He ran a hand through his hair as Lenny jumped on the table, running his nose over the meal prepared for him.

"And she also has some solid martial skills and all. The way she carried you on her shoulder and came back like a bag of chips was enough to say," Lenny said.

"Huh? She carried me?" Eden was more stunned.

Lenny shrugged. "Yeah. It happened that way."

Adrian and Helen had their eyes on the cat, who was now eating on the table.

"You know, I don’t think I can get used to this talking animal of yours," Adrian remarked.

"Don’t get used to it, then," Lenny snapped, still eating.

Helen smiled.

"One more word and I’ll feed you to the wild animals in the forest," Adrian threatened.

"And I’ll swallow you," Lenny retorted.

While they bickered, Eden was still trying to process everything.

And after a while, they were peacefully dining when Adrian asked, "How are you doing? You didn’t seem to be in a good state while asleep."

"Oh..." Eden slowly nodded. "I’m fine. Just a nightmare."

"Are you sure?" Adrian asked; he seemed worried.

"Yes."

Adrian nodded. "I guess a lot of things happened after our last meeting at the banquet. You even murdered someone."

"I didn’t," Eden defended.

"I know you wouldn’t," Adrian sighed. "At least the wizard I got to know wouldn’t. But I bet everyone doesn’t think so. The whole kingdom hates you more now."
