Chapter 305: 305: VOL. 2: You Sure?

Eden wasn’t surprised. He had seen that coming. But he was surprised that Adrian didn’t doubt him, that he believed him even without concrete proof.

"You’ve caused a potential war, so everyone hates you more now," Adrian smiled. "You’ll probably be safe here, at least."

"Thanks," Eden said to Adrian and Helen. "For saving me."

"Don’t mention it. I’ll always do so for people I like," Adrian smiled. "If you wish to repay me, you could always be my lover."

Helen and Lenny looked up, staring at Adrian. They probably couldn’t get used to how shameless the Grand Marquis could be when it came to flirting.

Eden was already used to it. "Maybe if you spoke less, I would consider it."

"Okay. I’ll speak less, my love," Adrian said.

"..." Helen and Lenny’s faces were still pale with disbelief.

"But... what happened all this while? Where were you?" Adrian asked him. "You even changed your hair and all..."

Eden hesitated with a sigh. "Nothing much," he said, running a hand through his silver hair. His eyes were normal. "I guess I wanted a change."

"Is that so? It looks adorable on you," Adrian smiled.

"..." Helen and Lenny stopped eating again.

"I know," Eden smiled.

"Well, I guess as long as you’re safe, I won’t ask further," Adrian concluded.

"And yes... I’ll be leaving tomorrow as well," Eden suddenly announced. Helen and Adrian stared at him.

"Leaving tomorrow? Why? Where?" Adrian inquired.

"To the Imperial City," he said.

"Why would you go there? I mean, the emperor wants you dead the most. That would be the most dangerous place to be."

Eden slowly nodded. "Yes. I know. But I have something to do there. I have to go join the Imperial Military Academy."

"Why?" Adrian was confused.

"It’s... it’s personal. I’ll probably tell you about it later. But I have to join it. I have to find something urgently," Eden explained.

The table was quiet for a while before Adrian nodded.

"Okay then. You should go if you need to," he stared at Eden. "But you should also know that it’s dangerous. I mean, you’re actively wanted after killing the old man. It’ll be more dangerous for you out there," he explained.

Eden scoffed. "Why are you even worried? I’m the Wizard of El, after all, so even if a whole country comes after me, I can still protect myself."

Adrian nodded. "I guess so. I keep forgetting," he smiled. "That’s what happens when you’re in love. You forget your lover is the devil who can take down a whole nation."

"..." Helen and Lenny stopped eating and looked up at him again. At times like this, they simply felt like third wheels.

"Is it me, or did you get more shameless with me or something?" Eden stared at him.

Adrian smiled. "You know, at the engagement banquet I realized something."

He hesitated before he continued. "I realized that I almost lost you. I thought I would. And I figured the thought of it had me panicking... Do you know what that means?"

Adrian smiled at Eden. "It meant that I liked you."

The room was quiet. Eden couldn’t believe they were having this conversation here.

"But I’m a guy..." His heart fluttered, but he tried saying something at least.

"Doesn’t matter. I like you and not your gender," Adrian said casually. "Besides, I’ve never really been of the opinion that a guy should only like a girl, and vice versa. I’ve always found it boring, because sometimes I even find myself falling for some pretty men at the brothel—"

He paused as he stared at Eden, who had his eyebrows raised. He was getting too open with himself now.

"Anyway," Adrian cleared his throat. "I like everyone. As long as you attract me. And that night at the banquet, although I don’t believe in god, I still prayed. I said... if god kept you alive and we met, I’d make sure I made myself known to you."

He continued with a casual smile. "That if I didn’t lose you, I would make you mine. Openly."

Eden’s heart fluttered loudly. He could feel it struggling to jump out of his chest as his cheeks burned.

Adrian was good with words. A little too good with words. He was a playboy, after all. And right now, Eden wondered if he was playing with him or not.

"So don’t doubt my love. Just let me love you the way I want to. Okay?" Adrian raised an eyebrow. "Even though you’re a guy."

"..."

Helen and Lenny still had their eyes on them, speechless. They didn’t know how to feel about what was happening right before their eyes.

"Are you sure we should be here?" Helen asked Adrian.

"Maybe? Probably until it gets rated 18," Lenny said. He guessed he had become used to this.

"Whatever," Eden looked down at his meal, clearing his throat. "Do whatever you like."

Adrian smiled. "You’re okay with it. I guess you must like me too. You’re even blushing."

"Whatever," Eden brushed off.

"And..." Adrian said, "Helen wishes to go to the capital as well. So I suppose the two of you can go together."

"Really?" Eden stared at Helen, who nodded. "Okay then. Maybe we can set off together."

"I wish I could come along. But I’m busy with work and all; I don’t know if I can leave it all and go with you. Too bad," he sighed.

"Don’t worry. You should prioritize your work first, anyway," Eden said.

"But..." Adrian added, "since you’re going to the Military Academy, I think I know someone there who can help protect you on my behalf."

Eden stared at him. "Huh? You do?"

"Yes. I have someone who’s probably in his third year at the Military at the moment. He can keep an eye on you for me and protect you from bullies. He can also help you with anything you want to do."

Eden slowly nodded. "Uh... who is it?"

"My brother."
