Billionaire Legacy: I Became Overpowered With My Spending System-Chapter 53 - Upperclassmen Duel
Chapter 53: Chapter 53 - Upperclassmen Duel
The room was far more spacious than he’d expected.
The room had high ceilings and smooth stone walls with blue mana lines etched into them. A large window offered a beautiful view of the valley and distant mountains.
’It isn’t as luxurious as my own room, though,’ Logan thought, giving Naut a thankful nod before closing the door.
Despite the simplicity, he was more than satisfied, smiling as he looked around the room that would be his home for the coming months.
’It’s a hundred times better than the crappy apartment I used to stay in,’ Logan thought, placing his luggage down beside his bed.
Walking over to a simple black desk with a hologram projector inside, Logan found a golden card on it.
’My student ID,’ Logan thought, glancing closer at the card. ’GAU-E25-0713.’
Logan put down his student ID and kept looking around, curiosity getting the better of him.
Walking to the right, he found a sliding door leading to a private bathroom made of light-gray stones and gold-colored devices. Only the small mirror above the washbasin remained plain and colorless.
Sitting down on his bed, Logan exhaled slowly.
’’This will be my life from now on,’’ he muttered, a smile growing on his face.
Hearing a soft beep, Logan sat up and glanced over at his desk.
’A message?’ he thought, standing up from his bed. ’But I haven’t connected my account yet.’
Reaching the desk, Logan sat down and projected the hologram.
’There’s a separate student account,’ Logan thought, face-palming. ’How did I not think of that?’
Quickly reading through the message, he nodded.
’The entrance ceremony is in two days,’ Logan read. ’Until then, I can freely explore the school on my own.’
Closing the hologram, he stood up.
’’I should go explore later,’’ he said, excited. ’’Grant and the others should have been here since yesterday, I’ll just ask them to take me around.’’
Glancing at his luggage, Logan decided to hold that thought for a moment and unpack first.
After unpacking his luggage, he quickly called Grant.
’’I just got here,’’ Logan started, glancing at the hologram of Grant. ’’Would you mind leading me around?’’
’’Where is your room?’’ Grant asked immediately.
’’Elite floor, room 713,’’ Logan answered, smiling.
’’Alright, we are heading over there now,’’ Grant answered. ’’Make sure you put your training clothes on, I want to show you something amazing.’’
Grant cut the call without giving Logan the chance to respond, leaving him baffled.
’’Training clothes, huh,’’ Logan muttered, letting out a sigh. ’’Why not, I guess.’’
He’d hoped to peacefully explore the ancient structure, but it seemed Grant had other plans.
’It isn’t too bad,’ Logan thought, shaking his head. ’I am pretty stiff from sitting in the shuttle for hours.’
Still in the middle of changing his clothes, Logan heard a soft alarm go off in his room.
’I’m pretty sure that’s the alarm I hear whenever someone knocks on my door,’ he thought, quickly putting on his pants.
Opening his door, he found everyone from his group of friends standing there.
’’Good afternoon everyone,’’ Logan greeted, smiling.
’’It’s good to finally see you here,’’ Robert said excitedly.
Grant nudged Robert aside. "Come on, follow us," he told Logan before turning around.
’’What’s going on?’’ Logan asked, confused.
Layla sighed, starting to explain it softly while Logan closed his door behind him.
’’There will be a duel between upperclassmen in a few minutes,’’ she said, walking beside Logan while following after Grant. ’’Grant originally wanted to spar with you but hearing about the duel, he immediately changed his mind.’’
’’Makes sense,’’ Logan nodded, glancing around him curiously as he walked through the corridors.
Robert slowed his pace to join their conversation.
’’I heard the two upperclassmen fighting are in their fourth year and both have gold cores,’’ he said, now walking beside Logan.
’’What about their affinities?’’ Logan asked, curious.
Robert shook his head. ’’No clue,’’ he said. ’’It’ll be a nice surprise.’’
’’Come on, walk faster,’’ they heard Grant urge from in front of them.
After descending two stone staircases, they entered a wide corridor packed with students.
The students stood in front of two massive doorways, above which hung a massive sign with golden letters on it.
’’Arcanum Arena,’’ Logan read, before glancing at the two doorways.
One doorway still had a long line of students waiting to get in, while the other stood open and empty.
Grant and Thomas quickly walked to the doorway without any students in line, gesturing for the others to follow them.
As he followed them, Logan immediately felt several students’ eyes on him.
’Seems like there is some difference in privileges,’ Logan thought, shaking his head softly.
After scanning his student ID at security, Logan climbed a wide staircase and found himself facing a massive glass pane, with rows of spacious seats stretching out on both sides.
Glancing through the glass pane, Logan saw a massive, circular arena several stories high and around three football fields in length and width.
’It looks like a massive high-tech version of a Roman colosseum,’ Logan thought, glancing at the screens and holograms floating from the ceiling of the arena.
Holograms of brand names and ads for weapons, armor, and equipment hovered all around the arena.
Logan looked back at his group and quickly followed after them. After passing by several people, he sat down on a soft chair beside Robert.
’Even the armrests have service buttons,’ Logan thought, eyeing the controls on the side of his chair.
’’It’ll start in 5 minutes,’’ Robert remarked, pointing towards the cooldown displayed on smaller screens above them. ’’You want to bet on one of them?’’
’’Bet?’’ Logan asked, surprised.
’’Yeah,’’ Robert nodded. ’’For example, do you want to bet on who wins? Or how long the fight takes?’’
’’I’m good,’’ Logan said, shaking his head.
Glancing carefully at the screen, Logan indeed saw the odds for some bets displayed underneath the cooldown.
’I don’t even know who these people are,’ Logan thought. ’Why would I bet on them?’
