Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Zoe Challenges Brandon

The ceremony was held at the majestic Douqing Pavilion, a monstrous building housing a dueling arena about a football field in size. The arena today served as the Iron Cage of Fighting Beasts, surrounded by enchantments against summoned creatures.

By 3:00 PM, the Douqing Pavilion was full to the brim. The atmosphere was charged as thousands of new students awaited the start of the ceremony.

Professor Xavier walked up to the podium, and silence was achieved instantaneously. His voice was deep and smooth, cutting through the roar of the arena.

"Before I commence, I should clarify one thing," he stated.

"If one simply wishes to make a respectable living, earn good money, and live a comfortable life as a magician, then I must tell you that you are in the wrong place."

Nobody breathed from the audience.

"Magicians from Celestial Academy are not ordinary. You are here to change the world. Anything less, in my opinion, would be wasteful use of your potential."

The dean’s words made many people reassess their lives’ purpose, and for the rest, it was the first time they were challenged to think beyond themselves. The applause that followed was an echoing message of determination rang throughout.

"And now, let us witness what our newest students are made of!" Professor Xavier said. "Starting with the seven representatives from the summoning department!"

First among the group was Brandon Brown, a stout young man with a significantly cocky demeanor.

Brandon’s summoning beast, a White-Armored Battle Sting, emerged with a dramatic burst of light. The creature’s triangular head was adorned with sharp, horn-like protrusions. Its powerful forelimbs resembled twin axes, and its body was encased in a gleaming, armor-like shell.

The audience gasped at the sight of the fearsome beast.

"Whoa, look at that thing!" Tina whispered, shielding her face with her hands. "Marissa, how many freshmen do you think it could take down?"

Marissa studied the creature thoughtfully. "Its body isn’t fully developed yet, and its training seems incomplete. At most, it could handle about fifteen."

Tina nodded in agreement, but her attention shifted when she noticed Zoe standing up.

"Zoe, what are you doing?" Tina asked, her voice filled with surprise. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

Zoe smiled softly, her eyes calm yet determined. "I want to test my strength. Those seven should be decent opponents."

Tina gasped, her admiration evident. "Wow, Zoe, you’re amazing! Go for it!"

Marissa also nodded, a proud smile gracing her lips. Zoe had always been reserved, but her strength was undeniable. This would be a great opportunity for her to shine.

Zoe joined the challengers lining up to face Brandon’s White-Armored Battle Sting in the Iron Cage of Fighting Beasts.

Inside the cage, Brandon stood with his arms crossed, a smug grin plastered across his face.

"Four wins already? Too easy," he boasted. "I could take on ten challengers at once! You heard me—ten!"

His arrogance earned him a mix of cheers and groans from the crowd.

When it was Zoe’s turn, she stepped into the cage without a word, her calm demeanor unsettling Brandon.

"Hey, what’s with the silence?" Brandon sneered. "You scared already?"

Zoe ignored him. She raised her hand, conjuring a flame, and hurled it at the cage’s entrance. The fire welded the iron door shut, sealing herself inside.

The challengers outside were stunned.

"Hey! What are you doing?" one boy shouted, rattling the now-sealed door.

Zoe turned to him with a cold, piercing gaze. She pressed a finger to her lips in a silencing gesture, her demeanor suddenly exuding authority and danger.

Brandon’s confidence wavered. "What... What are you playing at?"

Zoe didn’t respond. Flames began to swirl around her, crackling with intensity.

Her calm and gentle persona was gone, replaced by the commanding presence of someone who had faced and survived true danger.

"Well then," she said, her voice icy and controlled. "Let’s see if you’re as strong as you think."

The audience fell silent, sensing that they were about to witness something extraordinary.

"Is she insane to fight the White Armor Sting single-handedly?"

"Have you gone mad? The White Armor Sting just took out four freshmen. With her own strength, is she going to defeat him?"

"Hehe, maybe she had some reputation back in her previous school and now, in Celestial Academy, wants to ride on this battle to make a name for herself. But this is Celestial Academy- where geniuses abound."

"Shhh, it seems that girl may have had some links with Marissa Jones earlier. Maybe she has some strength after all."

When the freshmen saw Zoe Miller seal up the iron cage, they were all stunned.

Who in their right mind would do such a thing?

However, most of them were anything but optimistic about Zoe’s course of action. To them, there was already an overwhelming force to reckon with, the White Armor Sting. Alone, Zachary had no chance. Unless she was one of those prodigies from powerful families, there was no hope-Zoe would never make the cut.

Among the two boys sitting down in the Thunder Academy section were the most shocked person-seeing Nate Dawson and Evan Carter.

Ever since Zoe stepped into the ring, both of them widened their eyes, startled.

"Zoe Miller?!"

Evan burst out, shocked to say the least.

Nate was just as flabbergasted. "She survived the Skywing Wolf and came to Celestial Academy?!"

Both were feeling emotions that could hardly blend. For Nate, it was a moment of pure relief and a kind of delight upon seeing his former classmate alive.

"Zoe, it’s me, Nate!" he shouted, waving vigorously.

Zoe saw him and instantly smiled warmly. Certainly, it was not a time to chat, yet seeing a familiar face revived her spirit.

"Going by yourself, huh?"

Brandon Brown glared at Zoe. "Let me remind you, if my White Armor Sting pierces through your body, you cannot lay the blame on me."

"That’s all right," Zoe calmly but firmly said. "Let it be unleashed in maximum wildness."
