Magus Supremacy-Chapter 843
Chapter 843
BOOOOOOOM—!
Grey’s body collided with the spectator stands, instantly reducing the area where he landed into a mess of pulverized stone and shattered timber.
More crimson fluid sprayed from his mouth and nose as he lay motionless amidst the rubble for a heavy, breathless moment.
Back in the arena, it seemed as if the entire world had frozen at the sight.
Grey, the indomitable warrior-mage who had emerged victorious from countless life-and-death struggles, had been sent hurtling through the air by a single punch.
The shock rippled through the crowd, but perhaps no one felt it as keenly as Noir.
Among everyone present, the familiar had been by Grey’s side the longest; usually, after such a hit, the mage would already be springing back to his feet.
The wolf waited for several heartbeats, yet no sign of Grey rising could be seen.
With a weary sigh, the wolf shook his head in disapproval.
’What a damn fool. How did he allow himself to be caught by a strike like that?!’
Staring blankly at the void where Grey had stood only a second prior, Orion blinked in genuine confusion, his gaze dropping to his own knuckles.
’For some reason, I fully expected that punch not to land. Did I truly overestimate the kid?’
Thalos glanced between the composed Orion and the wreckage where Grey remained buried, a grim expression settling on his stony features.
Within a heartbeat, Orion regained his focus.
His head snapped toward the stands, and without wasting another breath, he zipped forward at a blazing velocity, intent on finishing the job.
But as if anticipating his every thought, Thalos moved to intercept.
The gargoyle appeared directly before the man just as he reached the edge of the stands, ready to vault into the debris.
With a savage horizontal swing of his greatsword, Thalos forced a confrontation.
Orion leaped over the blade, nimbly dodging the massive weapon, and prepared to press his advantage.
At that exact moment, a crackling sphere of flames erupted.
... No! Not one, not two, but four crackling orbs of fire burst from the maw of Noir, who stood defiantly atop the railing overlooking Grey’s position.
Orion was left with no choice but to kick the air, launching himself backward.
Two glowing Ki swords materialized in his grasp, which he swung in a desperate arc to cleave through the oncoming inferno.
He succeeded in dispersing the flames, but as the heat dissipated, Thalos was already waiting in the cleared space.
His greatsword had elongated further than should have been physically possible.
It swung forward with the weight of a falling mountain, smashing into Orion’s head and sending the man plummeting back toward the earth.
The ground shattered upon impact, a wide, jagged crater forming where Orion struck.
Waves of dust billowed into the air, obscuring the view.
Noir wasn’t about to take any chances; he began rapidly spitting smaller fireballs into the dust cloud like a relentless machine gun.
The projectiles landed with clamorous bangs, but most observers doubted the assault was doing much damage to Orion, as no sound emerged from the cloud except the rhythmic explosions of the fire.
And they were right.
Orion Stormvale walked out of the settling dust, appearing entirely unphased.
Well... except for a small, singular gash on his forehead where Thalos’ sword had connected.
A thin stream of blood began to trace a path down his face.
Thalos landed nearby with a deep frown, while Noir remained on the railing, only to hear a sudden rustle behind him.
Rising from the debris and floating into the air was Grey. Blood still dribbled from his lips, but he seemed entirely indifferent to the injury.
Landing softly on the same railing as Noir, the mage crouched down, peering at Orion, who was currently staring daggers at him.
"Man closest to godhood, huh?" Grey uttered, his voice carrying clearly across the arena and causing audible sighs of relief to escape his allies’ mouths.
A sharp chuckle escaped the mage’s lips, prompting Orion to lift a skeptical brow.
"What a joke. You punch like a toddler."
Orion took no visible offense; his expression remained a mask of indifference, showing no sign that the mage’s taunt had landed.
Without another word, a brilliant light began to manifest around Grey’s feet, hands, and head.
Lightning crackled through his eyes like a living snake, signaling that the real fight was only just beginning.
In a second, the light dimmed back down, and within another heartbeat, it vanished—leaving the mage equipped with a crackling pair of lightning boots.
Jagged gauntlets of pure electricity wrapped around his hands, and then, a crown of five radiant spires rested upon his head.
The sight confused Noir, as the familiar had never seen Grey manifest such an ornament before... the crown, specifically, was an anomaly.
Leaning forward like a predator gauging the distance for a lethal leap, Grey’s robes flapped violently as the wind began to howl around his frame.
Ki flooded his inner pathways, coating and reinforcing his internal organs.
He knew that if he attempted to match Orion in a pure contest of Ki, he would suffer a swift defeat, so this specialized infusion was his best tactical alternative.
Crackle—!
BOOOM—!
A thunderous explosion rang out as the railing he had been standing on finally gave way, unable to withstand the pressure.
Grey shot through the air like a fallen star; in a mere fraction of a second, he was positioned directly before the veteran warrior.
A dense sphere of lightning began to shriek around his palm, and he proceeded to jab his hand forward with all his might, launching the orb toward the man at a blistering velocity.
Orion smirked, appearing entirely unconcerned about the prospect of being electrocuted alive.
With practiced ease, he took a single step backward, and he was suddenly standing ten metres away from the incoming strike.
However, a knowing smile curved Grey’s lips. He spoke two words that sent a sudden, chilling dread crawling up Orion’s spine.
"Spatial Folding."
To the utter confusion of the spectators, the very space between Orion and Grey’s attack diminished instantly, as if the warrior himself had dashed forward against his will. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
The sphere of lightning slammed into Orion with destructive force—the transition was so instantaneous that he didn’t even have time to raise a guard.
One moment he was safely at a distance; the next, he was suddenly chest-to-chest with the attack, as if he had been yanked forward by an invisible string.
KA-BOOOOM—!
BANG!
The electrical sphere smashed Orion away.
Crimson waves splattered into the air, dyeing the atmosphere a misty red for a moment before the warrior’s body crashed into a coliseum wall.
The impact brought the massive structure down in a heap of heavy rubble, burying his body beneath the ruins.
