Angle's Arrogance? My Pact with the Succubus Queen!-Chapter 260: Everyone Betrays, No More Fighting!
Ghost Palace suddenly exploded with wild energy, and it pushed back against itself.
Black spikes broke, and the palace started to collapse from the inside.
"Sean! Stop!" Claude’s face turned pale. His holy light chains couldn’t hold the Ghost Palace anymore.
On the other side of the battlefield.
General Duerer used his "Soulmates in Battle" style, linking up with hundreds of rebel soldiers.
Each soldier turned into life fuel, but his attacks always missed the important spots at the last moment.
Lomel’s eyes flashed with clarity more and more often. He burned the Shadow Beings marks on his body with black Inferno. Each burn caused him unbearable pain in his soul.
General Solomon’s fake light gates dropped from 128 to 97. Each space jump was slower. The will of his past life was messing with the Shadow Beings’ control over space laws.
At this moment, five generals, including Darwin and General Philip, realized something was wrong.
The five Shadow Generals they were fighting seemed to be holding back.
Even Shadow noticed something strange.
"You... dare to betray me?" Her voice came from all five Shadow Generals at once. She was angry and shocked: "I gave you eternal life and power beyond the peak. Is this how you thank me?"
The five Shadow Generals all screamed in pain, holding their heads. The Shadow Beings attack suddenly got worse. Black marks spread fast, trying to destroy what was left of their own minds.
"No... not... we are... General of the Federation... not... your puppets..."
"Stupid!" Shadow shouted. "The Federation has left you. Look at the soldiers running away. Look at the old friends who now point their guns at you. What are you fighting for?"
She was right.
On the Saint Heart City front line, Federation soldiers were following Darwin’s order to retreat three minutes ago.
Fifty thousand soldiers were running back to the second line. Only five generals and Logan stayed at the front to fight.
This wasn’t a betrayal. It was a plan. Darwin knew that normal soldiers would only die in a battle like this.
But the Shadow Generals saw it as the Federation running away.
"See?" Shadow’s voice was tempting. "The Federation you gave everything for chose to save themselves at the last moment."
"Only I, only the Shadow Clan, truly accepted you and gave you power beyond normal people."
"Shut up!" General Duerer suddenly looked up. His eyes were completely clear, not dark anymore. "The Federation never left us."
He slowly turned around and looked past the chaos. His eyes locked on a figure in the back, wrapped in gray goo — the Federation Prime Minister, Newson.
This former top leader of the Federation was now a puppet of Shadow, screaming and pushing the Shadow Generals to attack faster.
"Newson." Duerer said coldly, "you betrayed the Federation. You betrayed everyone who trusted you."
Shadow sensed danger. "Duerer! What are you doing? Attack Logan now! That’s an order!"
Duerer didn’t listen. His hands slowly rose. The connection lines from the rebel soldiers broke and all went into his body.
"This move... I was going to save it for Shadow." Duerer said, with a cruel smile. "But I guess I have to use it on a traitor like you."
"Stop! You’ll be destroyed!" Shadow screamed in fear.
But it was too late.
All the energy inside Duerer, including the dark power forced into him by Shadow Beings, and even his own life force, was all compressed to the maximum.
His body began to break down. Cracks appeared on his skin, glowing with light. He kept walking forward, one step... two steps... three steps...
"Life and Death Together... Reverse!"
General Duerer whispered the forbidden spell: "With my soul, I bind your body."
A spike made of pure soul power shot from his chest. It ignored space, ignored all defenses, and pierced Newson’s chest perfectly.
Time seemed to stop.
Newson looked down at the transparent spike in his chest, his face full of disbelief.
He opened his mouth to say something, but his body began to melt, turning into smelly, gray liquid.
The Shadow Beings were exposed. The black seed inside his heart was jumping wildly, trying to escape its soon-to-be-destroyed host. But Duerer’s soul spike pinned it in place.
"No... no..." Shadow’s voice was for the first time full of panic.
The black seed exploded, turning into black smoke and disappearing.
Newson’s body completely melted, leaving only a pool of moving gray sludge. It quickly evaporated into the air.
The Federation’s Prime Minister was killed like that.
"Damn you, Duerer! You die too!" Shadow roared. She waved her hand and pulled all the Shadow Energy out of Duerer’s body. His body started to disappear.
Starting from his feet, he turned into tiny lights. His face showed a look of relief.
"Monet." he said, looking at his old friend far away, "now the Federation is in your hands."
"Duerer!" Monet tried to run over, but Duerer used his last bit of power to build a space barrier to stop him.
"Don’t come closer! There are still Shadow Beings inside me. Getting close will make you sick." Duerer said, his voice getting weaker. "Tell Logan to stay far away. The curse of Life and Death Together has a distance limit."
With those words, his body completely disappeared, turning into thousands of tiny lights that merged into the blood-red sky above the battlefield.
At that moment, the whole battlefield seemed to stop.
General Monet stood at the space gate, his twelve broken wings falling weakly.
He stared at the place where Duerer had disappeared, his fists clenched so tight that his knuckles turned white. Blood came from his palms, but he didn’t feel any pain.
General Darwin’s mech knelt on one knee. A silver wave of nanobots floated in the air.
He looked through the cracked screen at the fading lights, moved his lips, and finally said three words: "Old bastard..."
General Dominic held his chest wound, with crystal shards still stuck in his flesh.
He remembered sixty years ago, when he first went to war, Duerer had pulled him out of a monster’s group with his own hands.
"You once said, a Federation General can die in battle, but can’t watch his soldiers die." Dominic said quietly. "Now you went first."
Inside General Claude’s Spirit Palace, all the heroes bowed their heads in silence.
Captain Marx’s spirit raised his hand and gave a standard military salute.
Officer Eleanor’s eyes burned with soul fire — that was how heroes cried.
General Sean’s Ghost Palace was half destroyed, but his red eyes now showed more clarity than darkness.
He looked at the place where Duerer had disappeared and said, hoarse: "Thank you, my comrade! You led the way in this battle!"
Not far away, General Xavier’s black crystals kept breaking off and regenerating.
He knelt on one knee, punched the ground with his right fist, and made another crack in the ground. "Duerer, you fool!"
High in the sky, General Solomon’s fake light gates all shut down.
He hovered in the air, shaking violently. His eyes flashed between shadow and clarity. "Life and Death Together... Reverse... Soul destroyed."
Lomel General had burned away one-third of the Shadow Beings’ markings with his black Inferno.
He looked up at the sky, his voice like sandpaper rubbing: "Duerer, go well."
Four Shadow Generals. Four comrades who had fought side by side for decades. Now, they were using all their strength to resist Shadow’s control. They were doing this to finish Duerer’s last wish, which he gave with his life—to buy the Federation some time.
On the battlefield, Federation soldiers had all pulled back to the second line inside the city.
The walls were empty, leaving only broken armor, dried blood, and twisted metal plates from energy blasts.
Wind blew through the smoke, passing over the spot where Duerer had disappeared, and over the blackened mark where Newson’s gray liquid had evaporated.
Saint Heart City was suddenly silent — just for a moment.
At the same time, the four Shadow Generals all knelt on one knee.
Lomel, Sean, Xavier, Solomon — their eyes burned with shadow fire, flashing wildly. Clarity and darkness fought inside them, their bodies shaking violently, but they no longer attacked.
Shadow’s control was briefly gone.
"Now!" Logan’s voice echoed across the battlefield. "Everyone, fall back!"
He pushed forward with all his strength. Space laws worked at full power.
Five silver gates opened behind the five Federation Generals. A strong pull dragged them inside.
Monet looked one last time at the place where Duerer had disappeared. He bit his lip and ran into the gate.
Darwin, Dominic, Claude, and Philip followed right after.
As the last gate closed, Logan quickly moved into the inner Blood Cultivation Realm of Saint Heart City. He landed on one knee, breathing hard, blood trickling from his mouth.
Using Space Ability at such a high level was a huge burden on his already injured body.
But he had no time to rest.
Outside the city, the four Shadow Generals still knelt, their eyes growing clearer. They were using all their will to resist Shadow’s control — buying the Federation more time.
At that moment, Shadow’s image slowly formed in the sky above Saint Heart City.
This time, her face had no calm or mockery. Only a cold, almost solid hatred.
"Good!" Her voice was like a cold wind from the deepest hell. "You’ve made me angry."
"Logan, in ten minutes, all the Death God of Love in the city will explode."
"You don’t need to try to stop it. I killed all the researchers in the control center. The circuits are all cut."
On the wall, Logan forced himself to stand straight, despite the pain. His life crystal at his forehead was quietly healing his wounds.
Now, the nuclear countdown was down to just over nine minutes. Shadow’s killing intent was pressing down on the whole city.
Logan had to find a way to turn the battle around in this short window.
So, he closed his eyes. The twelve rune nodes in his Spirit Palace inside his Soul Sea all flashed at once.
He tried to connect with the soul waves of the four Generals outside the city, hoping to create the most basic Resonance link.
