Chapter 247: Love Sealed by the Sea

The salty breeze carried the scent of the ocean as Delphinia stepped out of the car, the soft sand welcoming her feet as she took in the breathtaking view of the endless blue stretching before them. The sound of waves crashing gently against the shore mixed with the laughter of seagulls overhead.

The salty breeze whipped through her hair, but for the first time in a long while, she didn’t mind. It was refreshing, grounding. Almost as if the ocean itself was washing away the layers of tension that had built up over the past few weeks.

How had they ended up here? The question floated through her mind as she stood there, half-aware of the warmth of the sun against her skin and the soft, shifting sand beneath her bare feet.

It had been his idea, of course. "Let’s go somewhere," he’d said, the words light but with a hidden intent. "The beach sounds good. We all need a change of scenery."

Ashton had been practically bouncing with excitement at the idea. "The beach, Delphinia! Please, let’s go to the beach!" he’d pleaded, his eyes wide with hope. And honestly, how could she say no to that?

Evander turned to her, sunglasses perched on his nose, his expression softer than usual. "You needed a break," he said, brushing a strand of hair away from her face. "We all did."

Delphinia glanced at Ashton, who was already tugging at Evander’s hand. "Can we play now?" his excitement was undeniable, his hazel eyes gleaming under the sunlight.

Evander chuckled. "Of course, buddy. Let’s see if you can keep up with me." 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Delphinia smiled as she watched the two of them head toward the shoreline, their footprints marking the golden sand. Evander tossed a ball up, letting it hang in the air before nudging it toward Ashton, who eagerly kicked it back.

Sitting under a large beach umbrella, Delphinia found herself watching them with a full heart. Ashton was laughing, his voice bright and free, and Evander looked... happy. Genuinely happy. His usual sharp features were relaxed, softened by the warmth of the sun and the moment. It was rare to see him like this, without the weight of business, family, or obligations pressing on his shoulders.

"You two look like you’re having fun!" she called out, waving at them.

Ashton ran up to her, his cheeks flushed. "Delphinia, come play too!"

Delphinia chuckled and ruffled his hair. "I think I’ll just watch for now. Someone has to keep an eye on you two troublemakers."

Ashton grinned and ran back to Evander, who scooped him up and spun him around. Their laughter was contagious, and for a moment, Delphinia forgot about all the chaos of the past weeks. Here, at this beach, they were just a family enjoying a peaceful day together.

After a while, Evander walked back toward her, beads of sweat glistening on his forehead. "You’re missing out, you know."

"I think I’m enjoying myself just fine right here." She lifted the picnic basket she had packed earlier. "Lunch?"

Evander nodded, plopping down next to her. "I’m starving."

Ashton sat between them, eyes lighting up as Delphinia opened the basket. She had packed sandwiches, fresh fruit, and some homemade pastries. They ate while the ocean breeze cooled their sun-warmed skin.

"This is nice," Delphinia said, sipping from her lemonade. "It feels... peaceful."

Evander exhaled deeply, his arm resting on the sand behind her. "Yeah. A lot has happened lately. If we didn’t take a step back, we’d go crazy."

She hummed in agreement, watching the waves roll in and out, a rhythmic lull that made everything feel simpler.

Then, Evander shifted, reaching into his pocket. "There’s something I need to do."

Delphinia turned to him, eyebrows slightly raised as he suddenly knelt on one knee before her. The playful atmosphere shifted, her heart skipping a beat as he pulled out a small velvet box.

"Evander..." her breath hitched.

His usual composed self was nowhere to be found—there was something raw, something earnest in his eyes. "We’re already married, I know. But I never really did this the right way. And if there’s anyone who deserves things done right, it’s you."

He opened the box, revealing a stunning ring, one clearly chosen with care, its diamond catching the sunlight like scattered stars.

Delphinia stared, her chest tightening.

"Delphinia," Evander continued, his voice steady but filled with emotion, "I love you."

The words hung in the air, sinking deep into her heart. It was the first time he had ever said them, and she felt them in every fiber of her being.

A small laugh, almost a sob, escaped her lips. "You took your time."

He smiled. "I had to make sure you wouldn’t run away."

She bit her lip, feeling the warmth of tears behind her eyes. "I love you too, Evander."

His breath eased, as if he had been holding it this whole time, waiting for her to say those words.

"So?" he prompted. "Will you marry me... again?"

Delphinia nodded, unable to stop her smile. "Yes. Drunk or sober, yes."

Evander slipped the ring onto her finger, and before she could react, he pulled her into his arms, pressing a firm kiss to her lips. The sound of the waves and Ashton’s excited clapping filled the background, making everything feel even more surreal.

"Do you guys love me too?" Ashton’s small voice piped up, making both of them pull back.

Delphinia and Evander exchanged a glance before turning to their son, who looked expectantly at them.

"Of course we love you, Ashton," Delphinia said, pulling him into the hug.

Evander ruffled his hair. "You’re stuck with us, kid. Forever."

Ashton beamed, wrapping his arms around both of them. "Good. I love you guys too."

Under the setting sun, surrounded by the sea’s embrace, the three of them held onto each other, their hearts beating in sync. No matter what trials the future held, in this moment, they were simply a family bound by love.
