Chapter 153: Groups

They got on the ship one after the other, and despite the massive size, there were no beds, only chairs spread out.

Everyone was confused when they got in and didn’t see any beds or rooms that they could stay in. The inside of the ship was empty, and so was the deck.

Quin looked at their confusion and smiled. He walked in front of all of them. "Now that all of you are inside, she’s ready to go, I’ll explain something to you.

"This flying ship was made completely empty for this specific occasion. Inside this ship, there is no ounce of food, no comfortable place to rest, and the temperature gets increasingly cold the higher you get." He watched through to see their reaction, and it was exactly the type of reaction he wanted—confusion, fear, panic.

"Now, many of you are wondering why we would do something like that, right? Well, that’s simple. The first stage of the competition is to find a house in two days, but that’s far too simple.

So this ship is built to make it harder. You’ll suffer a full day’s hunger and no sleep, temperatures that could drive a person crazy.

And you’ll have to bear that for a full day before we arrive. So when you all drop, half of you would have been battered already, and getting the houses from the golems becomes harder.

You already know the gist of it. Inside the cabin are resources and food that you all will desperately need."

His words stunned all of them. The academy was intentionally trying to make it harder for them. They began complaining about how it was unfair, but Quin simply smiled through all their shouting until they were done. Then he spoke.

"Also, there is only one instructor on this ship, and that’s me, and I’ll be upfront controlling it, so I can’t help you in any way here. If you end up killing yourselves, you’ll face the consequences of your actions when we get down.

But while we are in the air, I can’t really do anything to help or protect you. So be careful where you stay and who you stay with to avoid being attacked or hurt.

And for those that wish to hit someone, you may do as you like, but unlike the punishment that you would receive in the academy, the punishment for you here is three times worse immediately you are caught as the culprit.

So be careful with the choices that you make, because it might affect you badly. Beyond that, your actions will not only affect you, but also affect the class as well, as deductions on points will happen, and those that helped you do it in any way will also be punished.

That being said, feel free to do whatever. There was a reason we said get ready. If you were smart enough, tonight will prove to be nothing to you, you would have prepared for the unexpected. After all, you are going to be staying inside a forest." Quin said, flashing a final smile, and with it, he walked away, using the stairs that led up to the deck.

The cabin became quiet after Quin left, everyone looking around, not sure of what to do.

Riven tapped Noel on the shoulder and walked toward a corner, and Noel followed. Sofia saw him moving, so she followed him as well, and then Liana, Robert, Mia—finally the whole top tier went to that corner as well.

The rest of Class A, seeing this, all moved to that corner. They didn’t get too close and gave everyone personal space, but they clustered together at that angle and made it their space.

The other classmates saw this. They despised Class A for causing the separation to start, but they had to agree that this was the best method for them right now.

So following the same method, everyone started grouping into their classes, five groups of fifty standing together. freēwēbnovel.com

Riven didn’t bother with everyone that had followed him. He sat down on the cold, hard floor and leaned his back against the wall.

Sofia came to him and sat down beside him. She stared at him for a bit and then spoke.

"So what’s your plan for when we get down?" she asked and then looked away.

Riven looked at her and then looked forward. "Nothing really, I’m simply going to try and find the base," he said.

"And what if our mates refuse to work with you?" she asked.

"I don’t know. I’ve never been one to lead people, and I don’t know how to go about it. So I’ll do what I can, and if it works out, fine. If it doesn’t, we’ll still find a way," Riven said.

"You underestimate how good you actually are, and how much the class will listen. You just have to put your foot down.

Everyone knows what you did during the attack. You had the most impact and secured the win for the academy," she said.

"Well, that does very little with me leading an entire class. I think someone like Robert is the right fit for that," Riven said. He glanced at Robert, who was leaned against the wall.

"I’ll follow you no matter what," Sofia suddenly said, and then folded her knees and dropped her head onto her knees, shutting her eyes.

’She isn’t one to actually talk much, so getting her to speak this long with me means she really does have an interest in me. But something about that makes me scared. Sofia was mysterious in the academy, and her actions always had some sort of eerie feel. Her shyness, her quiet—they all gave a strange vibe.

Back then I thought the stupid author would talk more about it, but the asshole slowly started burying her character until she was nothing more than a pretty face. It was as if Frozen Fish was trying desperately to hide something about her that he initially wanted to release.’
