As soon as Grey activated his Name Artifact, the arena fell into an eerie silence for a moment, immediately followed by the Ring of Return’s unleashed power.

A triumphant smile spread across Gray’s lips.

The Ring of Return operated on a simple, destructive principle: it gathered all the energy expended nearby, compressed it, and released it in a single, powerful explosion.

Each spent particle of energy, mana or aura that was used up and dissolved into the surrounding space was returned to its original state under the influence of the Ring. Then, the collected energy was compressed to an unimaginable degree.

The ring didn’t care about the source or type of energy – any consumption within its range became fuel for its explosive potential. The longer the battle lasted, the more powerful the weapon became.

Naturally, the owner of the Ring was protected from this raging energy.

Moreover, the process of ’returning’ the particles to their normal state was only visible to the Ring owner, leaving others in the dark.

Thus, in the confines of the arena, all the energy and aura expended during their duel will simultaneously contract and detonate, creating an unavoidable, overwhelming attack.

Gray clenched his fists.

His master had forbidden him to use it until he had fully mastered it, but now he had no choice but to take the risk.

’There’s no going back now! I’ll do it!’

Gray hadn’t yet learned to fully control it, but he could still do the simplest of things – compress the surrounding energy and release it in one powerful blast.

As soon as Gray transferred his will to the Ring of Return, invisible energy particles began to gather all over the battlefield, colliding with each other, accelerating and increasing in size.

Rain instinctively felt the silent threat from this attack.

With the amount of energy and aura they had expended during their fight, it was hard to even imagine the power of the upcoming explosion.

The problem was that it was happening everywhere, and in the limited area of the arena, there was no place to avoid this attack.

"AHAHAHAHAHAHAA"

"Yes, Rain, that’s it! That’s the difference between us!"

While Gray was having his own fun, Rain felt it.

Now. It was time to use what he had borrowed from his sister specifically to counter his Name Artifact.

It was an ability of the Dragon Past bloodline that Liana had passed on to him through their bond after sex this morning.

Then he closed his eyes for a moment and reached into the abyss of his soul. Deep inside he felt a budding power that was unknown to him. In it beat an echo of eternity, a heartbeat from the dawn of creation. He reached for the power dormant within: time.

A thin thread of force connected Rain to it and he confidently grasped at it.

’I got it.’

His eyes sparkled with a newfound strength within.

The charges of raging energy under the influence of the Return Ring had also peaked, ready to explode at any moment.

At the moment when their abilities were about to collide in a decisive confrontation, space fell silent again for a moment.

After a couple seconds, Gray came to his senses.

"Shit!"

The activation of the Ring of Return failed.

"..."

"..."

In the overpowering silence, only the bewildered voices of the audience could be heard.

"Hey, did you realize why he was yelling and laughing so much?"

"Not really..."

"Am I the only one who didn’t notice what he was trying to do?"

"I think he was trying to show us something?"

Gray’s face reddened as embarrassment added to his anger.

’Ignorant fools, if this had worked, I’d be standing with victory in my hands by now!’

At this time, Rain was in a similar state of mind.

’Damn, I’m a little embarrassed. Because of his failure, I didn’t even have time to use the ability I borrowed from Liana specifically for this occasion.’

But unlike Gray, Rain didn’t let that affect the speed of his decisions.

He lunged at him, his obsidian blade flashed with a golden aura.

"Shit!"

Clang!

Not being in the best condition, Gray had a hard time fending off the first attack. Unfortunately, before he came to his senses, the first attack was followed by a number of other precise successive attacks, and eventually his stance was broken, giving Rain an opportunity to attack.

Another leg kick landed in his balls.

"Urghhh!"

Unable to bear the repeated hit, Gray fell to the ground, clutching his dignity.

"No, no, I can’t...! Not like this...!"

Glancing at Rain, who was calmly towering over him with sword in hand, he gritted his teeth.

"Do it and I’ll kill you—!"

The sword grazed his neck and stuck into the ground.

His voice no longer rang out as the red blood dripped off the obsidian blade.

At this point, the finals were officially over.

’In the end the Return Ring didn’t work... What was it? Simple luck or something more?’

Rain thought about what had just happened, but couldn’t come to a definite conclusion.

’Anyway, it was pretty dangerous.’

Rain remembered the moment when the power of the Ring of Return had peaked. He had struggled to overcome his instincts, which screamed danger, and concentrate.

And if Gray’s Name Artifact had actually worked, and he didn’t have Liana’s abilities... he didn’t even want to imagine how that would have ended.

’I have to steal it.’

It was too tempting a power to give up, and too dangerous to leave in Gray’s hands.

Now Rain had to find a way to do it.

’Nari, do you have any ideas about this?’

However, the system did not respond. Even after several minutes, it still remained completely silent.

Rain frowned slightly, seeing her unnatural behavior.

"Gray!!!"

A loud scream distracted Rain from his thoughts.

Wallace, panting, ran slowly toward Gray, who was being carried away on a stretcher.

"Are you okay, Gray?!"

Reaching him, he began to examine him closely, looking for any injuries or wounds.

It took a decent amount of time for the instructors to calm Wallace down and pull him away from Gray.

It was then that Rain took a moment and approached one of the instructors.

"Can I go up to him?"

He pointed toward Gray.

"I think I went a little too much with my pushing. Rather than prolong this feud, it would be better if I apologized right away, wouldn’t it?"

The instructor frowned, as if asking what he meant by ’a little too much’. But after a few seconds of silent confrontation, he let him pass, still watching him to make sure he didn’t do anything stupid.

Rain walked over to the lying Gray and leaned toward him with a kind smile, placing a hand on his shoulder reassuringly.

"Don’t worry, Gray, even without balls, you can still be popular. What was his name? Oh yes, Wallace. He seems pretty interested in you, if you know what I mean."

Rain winked at him.

"He’s crazy about you, and he’s pretty rich. Just the way you like it."

Seeing the convulsing Gray being carried away, a faint smile appeared on Rain’s face.

"I wish you luck."

Even if Gray has something left in there after all of this, he won’t have the opportunity to use it again.

Looking for ways to restore the Hero’s balls – what is that if not work worthy of the World’s Will?

"I wish you both the best of luck."

Leaving the care of the Gray’s balls to the Will of the World, Rain walked at an easy gait.
