Chapter 96: Chapter 95: Guiding Other Sentinels Starting With Mervin

"So, should we start today?" Ryzel asked.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, we can start today. I can even manage to guide at least 2 sentinels depending on their situation," Ryzel said.

Depending on the pollution value of the sentinel he would be guiding he could actually guide 2 or more sentinels.

However, he needed to limit it because he would still use his mental power when making potions and of course because he was still guiding Layton Lewis every day.

He doesn’t want to compromise his time in guiding Layton Lewis because his situation would worsen once his mental sea was agitated because of other factors

He doesn’t want to waste his effort and repeat them again, so he needed to clean the mental sea of Layton Lewis as soon as possible.

He was sure that they would be fighting Zergs again so Layton Lewis wouldn’t be in too much danger if his mental sea was clean and stabilized.

"Okay, then you can start guiding today."

"Okay, who will I be guiding first?" Ryzel asked.

"Of course you would be guiding me first," Mervin who was listening to their conversation interjected.

Oh, right, Mervin still doesn’t have a guide and he is also a 2S level sentinel so according to his merits he would surely be the first one that he would be guiding.

"Ok then let’s start right away. Please sit near me," Ryzel said, inviting Mervin to his side.

"Ok then, please take care of me," Mervin said and sat beside him.

"Ok, stretch out your hand. Please don’t resist my mental power," Ryzel said and held Mervin’s wrist and started channeling his mental power as gently as possible. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

They aren’t partners so he needed to be as gentle as possible to avoid being strongly resisted by Mervin.

Of course, there would still be some resistance, but it wouldn’t be too strong as long as he doesn’t enter forcefully.

As soon as he entered the mental sea of Mervin, he was surprised that it was almost the same as the mental sea of Layton Lewis.

Except that the center of Mervin was maintained precariously. He couldn’t see the center properly as he was only allowed to be in the periphery, but he could still see that at least the center area wasn’t touched yet.

However, the pollution was all going crazy wanting to go to the center are. He could already see a lot of cracks in the barrier that was standing between the center area and the outer layers.

The barrier should have been made by a 2S guide like himself and it should have been his relative as he or she could get so close to Mervin’s mental sea center area.

Now, what he has to do was to calm down all the rampaging pollutants so that they wouldn’t break the barrier. He also needed to strengthen the barrier and repair the cracks in it if he was allowed to get in touch with it.

He wasn’t sure how far Mervin would allow him to enter so he calmed down the pollutants that were rampaging first. He spread his mental power like a net and trapped all the pollutants down.

It took a while for him to spread his mental power all over the mental sea area of Mervin because he needed to do it gently.

After calming down the pollutants and cleaning up a bit of the pollutants he tried touching the barrier to repair it but as soon as he was near it, he could instantly feel that the resistance of Mervin was growing so he didn’t continue any further and withdrew.

As soon as he withdrew his mental power, he opened his eyes and asked Mervin, "How are you feeling?"

"It’s been a long time since I felt this great! The throbbing I always felt is finally gone. Thank you Ryzel!" Mervin said with a very genuine smile on his face.

"That’s good, but I only pressed down the pollutants for you and cleaned up a bit of the pollutants in your mental sea.

I need to enter your mental sea several more times if you want me to clean up the pollutants around your mental sea.

But it is better for you to find a partner with high compatibility of your own because I can’t repair the barrier around your mental sea because of your resistance," Ryzel explained.

"I know, it’s just that it’s hard finding such a partner," Mervin said still with a smile on his face.

When he entered the mental sea of Mervin, he could see how vast it was, so he knew that he was stronger compared to other 2S level sentinels, so it was probably harder for him to find a guide that had a high compatibility with him.

"Anyway, thanks to you I don’t need to worry about having a mania for the mean time.

You also don’t need to clean up my mental sea. You could use your time to help the others first at least for now my condition have been stabilized," Mervin continued saying.

"Are you done, can you move away from now," Layton Lewis said while glaring at Mervin.

Ryzel didn’t know when, but Layton Lewis was standing at his back.

"I know, no need to glare at me like that," Mervin said and went back to his table.

"What about you Ryzel are you okay? It’s your first-time guiding others, right? How do you feel?" Layton Lewis asked while sitting beside Ryzel and holding his hands.

"Don’t worry I’m feeling okay. I only use two thirds of my mental power, so I still feel fine," Ryzel said.

If there is no resistance, he could actually use only half of his mental power but unfortunately as long as the sentinel isn’t your partner there would aways be resistance to the guiding process which makes the guides spend more of their mental power because they need to be careful.

"That’s good, are you going to your laboratory now?"

"Yes, I want to start making potions and start my research right away. I have to restart my previous research that I stopped because of the lack of materials."

"Then, just tell me or you can directly ask the medical center if you need something more."

"Ok, I will get going then. See you at lunch," Ryzel said and went out of the office.

They agreed that both of them are going to eat together at lunch. Layton Lewis also already packed their lunch which he cooked together with their breakfast.

"Ok, I will go to your laboratory once you don’t go out on time for lunch."

"Yes, feel free to come to my laboratory if I don’t go out on time," Ryzel said.

It seems that Lyre already explained all his tendencies to Layton Lewis.

After Ryzel went out of the office, the pressure in the office suddenly grew.

"Hey, Lewis, can you control your mental power. Are really going to be like this. You know I won’t just be the sentinel that Ryzel would be guiding. Don’t tell me you’re going to act like this every time," Mervin complained because of the mental power Layton Lewis was emitting that was directed at him.

Layton Lewis knew but he just couldn’t control himself from feeling bad. Seeing Ryzel guiding others felt like someone was encroaching on his territory.

He understands that Ryzel would need to guide other sentinels so he didn’t object when the others proposed that Ryzel would guide the 2S level sentinels because he knew it was inevitable. Instead, he put conditions that would be beneficial for Ryzel.

Layton Lewis indeed understood it, so he even prepared himself but when he saw Ryzel guiding Mervin he wanted to stop it. He even wanted to tear apart the arm of Mervin that Ryzel held to establish their connection.

Fortunately, he has a strong self-control to stop such undesirable thoughts.

He also experienced such situations, especially when he knew that Ryzel had a boyfriend, so he was already accustomed to restraining his dark thoughts.

Such thoughts are really prevalent to sentinels as if it were already engraved in their nature.

The only thing they could do was to restrain those thoughts and train themselves to have better self-control.

But he still doesn’t feel good, so he said, "Mervin it seems that it’s been a long time since I have a spar with you right? Your mental sea is also in a good state, so it is a good time for a match. We should spar right now so that your skills wouldn’t rust."

"Hey, Lewis! Don’t think I don’t know what you want to do, you are being unfair! You know that right!" Mervin said.

"So? Are you going to follow me to the training grounds, or should I drag you there?" Layton Lewis said in a cold voice while walking out of the room.

"Ok ok, I’m coming. You are really being unfair! I know you just want to beat me up" Mervin complained while standing up and reluctantly followed Layton Lewis to the training grounds.
