After Breaking Up, I Married the General-Chapter 90 - 89: Arriving at the Ninth Army Base
"So, they’re going to stay with me all the time?"
"If you’re with me, they don’t need to be with you but of course those who are guarding you in the dark would still be in the range."
"Then, I’ll be seeing them tomorrow. What about my laboratory?" Ryzel asked.
"Your lab will be the one near my office. It should also be ready tomorrow."
It seems that most of the soldiers would be fully recovered by tomorrow as all the work could be done by tomorrow.
It is indeed understandable as all of the soldiers have good physique. They could easily recover from their injuries and tiredness.
As long as their mental sea recovers, they basically don’t have any more problems.
"Are we already heading to the ninth army base?" Ryzel asked.
The battle was already over so they didn’t have any more reasons to stay in the area.
"Yes, we are already heading to the base. We have more medical and mechanical personnel at the base, so it is better to go there directly to assist everyone. We should be arriving at the base in about 5 hours."
"It’s only 5 hours away from here?"
"Yes. You do know that our base is acting as the barrier. So, it has always been built in the very forefront for us to act immediately when the Zergs are attacking.
The ninth army base was built in one of the outermost planets near the edge of our galaxy so the travel time would only need 5 hours," Layton Lewis explained.
"I see, then I should rest a little bit. I will be helping the other later on," Ryzel said then brought out a recovery potion and drank it.
"Are you going to do group guiding again?" Layton Lewis asked with a frown.
"Yes. Don’t worry my mental power is already recovering," Ryzel said as he saw Layton Lewis frown.
His mental power is already recovering so after resting for 5 hours he could surely perform group guiding for the soldiers that were not in the main battleship and still haven’t received guidance from other guides.
"But there are a lot of soldiers left. You don’t need to force yourself; your body can’t handle continuously straining your mental power," Layton Lewis said while still having a frown on his face.
"Don’t worry, I know when to stop so it is okay. With the help of this ring my mental power is already twice as strong. I even manage to guide you after performing group guiding a while ago," Ryzel said while showing their wedding ring in front of Layton Lewis.
Ryzel also knew that his physique is one of the lowest, that’s why he can’t keep straining his mental power as it is also affecting his body. However, he can’t just ignore the soldiers as he was already aware of them.
He knew that he was capable enough to give some help so he would still do what he could do for them.
"Okay, then I will be watching over you later on," Layton Lewis said while still having a worried look.
Ryzel shrugged and said, "up to you."
He knew that Layton Lewis would be watching regardless of whether he agreed or not.
"Then you can rest first, I will go and deal with the things I needed to do," Layton Lewis said.
"Ok, see you later. Don’t forget to send me a message once we are already in your base," Ryzel said while waving at Layton Lewis.
After Layton Lewis went out, Ryzel went to bed and lay down.
In the past two days he didn’t sleep much as he was busy watching the battle. He hadn’t seen such as seen yet so it was disturbing his mind making him unable to sleep peacefully.
Now that the battle was finally over, he could finally rest his mind.
He should be able to get accustomed to it after staying in the ninth army longer.
As the partner of Layton Lewis, he would be staying in the frontline most of the time as Layton Lewis was in the general of the ninth army.
He doesn’t know why the ninth army was excepted from the rotation unlike the other armies but as they aren’t included in the rotation it means that he would also be staying in the frontline most of the time.
Well, he doesn’t really care as long as he can still do what he wants to do. Besides, staying in the frontline also have it perks as he could still search some herbs in the surrounding planets.
The planets near the frontline were often attacked by the Zergs that’s why they aren’t suitable for humans to live.
Most of the planets were left alone and were only monitored in case of Zergs invasion.
Those planets still have diverse ecology and as they were left alone untouched there were still a lot of plants that weren’t included in the galaxy’s library, or they were just recorded but only a few would look for them.
Some rare herbs also grow on those planets and only a few mercenaries would venture in it if they were hired for a high commission or if the academy of science specially requested it on the army.
Staying in the frontline means that he could also go and explore those places if Layton Lewis had time. He knew that Layton Lewis wouldn’t refuse his request as his potions were also beneficial to the ninth army.
Ryzel was thinking about different things and fell asleep unknowingly. He was only woken up by the alarm he set on his light brain.
He freshens up a little as they should already be near the base as they already spent five hours travelling.
As soon as he was done cleaning up, Layton Lewis opened the door of their room.
"Ryzel, we are already at the base. We need to go down already; do you need to prepare anything?" Layton Lewis asked.
"No need, all the things I need are still in my space. I left some of the things for my laboratory in the room I used before." 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"Do you want to take them?"
"No need, I still have some of those. I might use them later on in this ship, so it is better to leave them here before my laboratory is done."
"Then, we should get going," Layton Lewis said.
Ryzel nodded and walked towards Layton Lewis who was standing by the door.
"Can you tell me something about the ninth army base?"
"Of course, what do you want to know?"
"Just some things about the rules, how it looks like about the people living there."
Ryzel knew that he would be seeing the base soon, but he just wanted to know what to expect in advance.
The ninth army, just like any other base, doesn’t publicize how the base looked like for safety reasons, so he doesn’t know what the ninth arm base looked like.
He only knew how the central army base was like as he often went there with his mother when he was young.
"You already know how the central base looked like, right?"
"Yes," Ryzel said while nodding.
"Most military bases looked almost the same externally as their model was the same. All bases have a defense system and have walls lined up with weapons just like the ones in the central.
However, their positioning and configuration are all different to prevent others from memorizing the pattern of one base and applying it to other bases.
The configuration of the defense system of the base also depends on the environment they were in.
For example, in the central, its defense mechanism is more geared towards preventing pirate invasion or from people’s manipulation.
Unlike the central base the ninth army’s defense mechanism is more geared towards stopping Zerg invasion.
So, although most bases looked alike externally, how they work depends on the environment they were in.
Later on, you could see what the ninth army base is like.
The base has a living area on the north side of the planet. It is where the soldiers and their family reside on if there were no battle going on or if they aren’t on duty.
The north side of the base also has its common places just like other planets.
Even though it can’t be compared to other places, it has its own shopping center, malls, hospitals, parks, restaurant, café, and others."
"However, the prices here should be higher than other places, right?" Ryzel asked.
"Yes, the prices are indeed higher here compared to other areas as it is difficult to get products."
"I see. By the way, do most guides also stay in the north area?"
"Those who aren’t on duty are also staying in it except for those who are pregnant or those who have children less than five years old.
Those pregnant guides were mostly staying in their home planet cared for by their families.
Those who couldn’t go home or wanted to stay were sent to some planets that were farther from the frontline."
