After Breaking Up, I Married the General-Chapter 83 - 82: Rush to the Frontline 4
As soon as they entered the office, they heard Mervin speaking.
"Francis, switch with Rick and let them take on the center. Let your soldiers rest for a while and switch again after an hour."
"How’s the situation, Mervin?" Layton Lewis asked.
"It’s okay, they are still managing, with the lack of stabilizing potions I can only let them switch again and again for them to rest for a bit and minimize the effects of pollutants on them. Thank goodness Rick arrived on time, letting Francis and his soldiers have time to breathe for a while."
"That’s good, as long as they hold on for 1 more day, we can attack in full force."
Ryzel just stayed quiet beside Layton Lewis and kept listening to what they were talking about.
He didn’t study military positioning or anything so he can’t understand everything they were talking about but at least it doesn’t seem that they were losing.
Ryzel looked at Mervin who was talking to Layton Lewis about the situation in the frontline, he has a very serious demeanor without his flamboyant appearance that he has seen.
"Mervin, Ryzel is here to give us he potions he made."
As soon as Layton Lewis mentioned Ryzel. Mervin finally broke out of his serious mode while reporting to Layton Lewis and went back to his friendly persona while facing Ryzel.
"Hello, Ryzel! Where’s the potions you made? I’ll let the system test them for a quality check," Mervin said while smiling at him.
Ryzel looked at Mervin who was back to his normal smiling face and said, "Where should I put it?"
"Huh? Can’t you just give it to me?" Mervin said.
It seems that the number of potions they were expecting was just very small but how can the stock he prepared as a supply for ten years be just a small amount that they could just hold by hand.
His space bracelet was full of potions he made during his school years and during the month he was looking for a partner.
He can make 20 potions in just 2 hours in a relaxed manner, when he is rushing and has a lot of things in mind, he can make more.
In the past month he made a lot more than 20 bottles in 2 hours. So he made a lot of potions to replenish all the potions he gave away.
"Where will you test the potions? I better put the potions there because it would just be a hassle to carry it back and forth," Ryzel said.
"I have one of the portable scanners with me, so you can just bring your potions out for testing," Mervin said.
"Then, do you have an empty space or a room you won’t be using around here? You just won’t be able to move around if I put them all out here," Ryzel said clearly.
"Then put it in the next room first. The room next door is actually my office, but I often stayed here instead because of paper works," Mervin explained.
"Then, let’s go to the next room," Layton Lewis said.
Ryzel nodded and let Layton Lewis led him to the next room while Mervin also followed along with a portable tester.
After entering the room Ryzel brought out the potions from his space bracelet. He accumulated a lot of potions, that’s why as soon as he brought out the potions the room was instantly filled.
"Wow! I already thought you have a lot of potions since you said you needed more space, but I didn’t expect that you could have this many! How did you even have so much?" Mervin said while looking at the potions Ryzel made.
"Half of those potions were made during my school years and half of those were made by me last month," Ryzel said.
"Stabilizing potions, healing potions, replenishing potions, why did you even make a lot of potions?" Mervin asked.
"Well, I prepared them because I thought I might not be able to get married. So, I prepared a ten-year stock of potions that I might need," Ryzel said calmly.
"Wow! Your readiness is outstanding!" Mervin praised as he continued looking at all the potions Ryzel brought out.
While Mervin was looking around Layton Lewis kept looking at Ryzel.
"What is it?" Ryzel asked as he noticed Layton Lewis just kept looking at him.
"You already thought you might not get married?"
"Yes, of course I thought of it. The results of the compatibility tests with a lot of sentinels were not ideal and it didn’t even pass the threshold so of course I already thought that I might not get married.
So, I already prepared a lot of potions I needed to survive for the next ten years while I am in exile.
If the sentinels just passed the threshold even if it barely passed, then I might not have prepared for my 10 years survival but unfortunately no senti-"
Ryzel hasn’t finished speaking yet, but his mouth was already covered by Layton Lewis lips.
He was kissed quickly and was also let go immediately. After the kiss Layton Lewis said, "No need to mention others. You are really insightful for being prepared."
He couldn’t understand why Layton Lewis suddenly kissed and told him not to mention others, so he just nodded and said, "of course, I always need to be prepared."
"Wow! the quality of these potions is even better than most of the potions we have in stock," Mervin exclaimed after testing some of the potions.
"Ryzel you are really amazing! We are really worried about the number of potions we currently have because there aren’t enough for this battle.
With these potions we could at least hold on until the supplies come. These would be enough for us to use for the time being," Mervin said while looking at Ryzel happily.
"Ryzel, thank you for the potions," Layton Lewis said.
"No need to thank me. I just gave you just what I could besides as an intern it is my job to contribute potions that I made."
As a pharmaceutical student, his job as an intern was to provide potions to the army he was interning in.
"Yes, it is indeed one of your responsibilities as an intern to provide some potions to the army, but no one is like you who provided ten thousand potions on the first day he came in," Layton Lewis said with a smile.
"Yes, and most of the people who came for an internship can’t even provide this number of potions even if they stayed for months. With these potions your quota for the internship is basically done," Mervin added.
"Really?"
"Yes. For pharmaceutical students who are interning we have a set of quotas they need to complete. Their evaluation will depend on the amount and effectiveness of the potions they made. As for you, you have already over fulfilled the quota." Layton Lewis answered.
"So, thus it means I don’t have to do anything after this?"
"Yes, you don’t need to submit anything after this," Layton Lewis agreed.
"Then, can I research or do whatever potion I want?" Ryzel asked with excitement.
"Yes, of course, you can. As long as they aren’t dangerous you do them. After this emergency I’ll let them vacate a room on this floor to be your laboratory."
"Won’t that be troublesome?"
"No, it won’t. It isn’t troublesome because it is also for your safety."
"As the partner of the general, you have those basic rights here in the ninth army. If we can’t even satisfy such a small matter, where will we put our face to?" Mervin, who was listening, added.
"Thank you in advance. I already gave you the potions, I will go back to the room and make more potions for the time being."
As they already promised him that he could freely do his research later on he should also do some more potions to help them for the time being.
He already gave them at least ten thousand different potions but the number of soldiers in the ninth army is around five hundred thousand.
So, his potions are just really enough for them to use in the current emergency situation.
"Okay but be sure to rest first after 2 hours as we will have a space jump again after 2 hours." Layton Lewis reminded.
"Don’t worry I’ll set an alarm and rest after an hour."
After saying goodbye Ryzel went back to their room.
As soon as Ryzel was out of sight Mervin said teasingly, "Hey, Lewis I saw what you did earlier. You were displeased, weren’t you?"
"So?" Layton Lewis said without any expression on his face.
When Layton Lewis heard Ryzel mentioning about getting matched with different sentinels he didn’t want to hear it.
Layton Lewis already knew that it would likely be impossible for Ryzel to find any marriage partner at that time.
However, just thinking that Ryzel could have ended up being paired with another sentinel wasn’t good, so he kissed Ryzel to stop him from talking.
