After Breaking Up, I Married the General-Chapter 82 - 81: Rush to the Frontline 3
Ryzel knew that Layton Lewis knew that he was busy dealing with the emergency situation, but he still set aside some of his time to care for him.
"Your timing is just right. I was just checking the potions I just made so we can immediately go and have breakfast," Ryzel said.
"That’s good. Then, let’s go first," Layton Lewis said while waiting for Ryzel to go out of his temporary laboratory.
Ryzel removed his lab coat, gloves and other things and arranged the laboratory a bit then went with Layton Lewis to have breakfast.
"Where are we going to eat?" Ryzel asked.
"Let’s go and eat it at cafeteria 1 as it was the nearest place here," Layton Lewis answered.
"How many cafeterias does your room battleship have?" Ryzel asked curiously.
"There are at least 20 cafeterias here in the ship."
"Oh, it is more than I thought. By the way, how is the situation against the Zergs?" Ryzel asked.
He knew that if it was confidential Layton Lewis would not say anything. Layton Lewis would only tell some details about it which was already good enough.
Ryzel didn’t need too many details as he doesn’t understand it anyway. He only needs to know the general flow of their situation so that he won’t be too worried.
"Lieutenant General Francis and the others are already confronting the Zergs at area BR5875."
"When did the battle broke out?"
"Two hours ago, the Zergs arrived at area BR5875 and Lieutenant General Francis started attacking them as soon as they are sighted."
"Then is it okay for you to be here?" Ryzel asked.
"It’s okay. Lieutenant General Franics and the others are all very capable. If they couldn’t move properly just because I wasn’t present in command, then the ninth army should have collapsed already.
Besides, Mervin is there to monitor the situation. It has always been his job to monitor the state of the battlefield and direct the others if I wasn’t present," Layton Lewis said.
"I see. However, the numbers confronting the Zergs are still few right? Can we arrive there in time to join and give support?"
"Yes, we can certainly arrive in time, Lieutenant General Rick will be joining the others this afternoon so they will surely survive until our arrival," Layton Lewis said with confidence.
Ryzel was also aware that the ninth army can’t be trifled with.
They are the army that is constantly in battle with the Zergs as they are always stationed at the frontline.
With their expertise, even with their lack of numbers they should be able to persist until the arrival of their general.
"Do you need some potions? I was making some stabilizing potions a while ago."
"Yes, we indeed need potions as the potions we currently have are not enough, especially high-quality potions."
"Huh? Why don’t you have enough potions?" Ryzel asked, knowing that the military always has a stockpile of potions.
"Originally, we went back to the Capital Star for the evaluation of military forces by the government and mainly to get supplies as we already consumed most of our supplies for this quarter because of the continued large-scale invasion of the Zergs last month.
The government just started processing our supplies a few days ago and they still aren’t done with it.
We already took some with us because of the emergency and they would be sending the following supplies in the next few days.
However, because of the rush we haven’t secured enough potions because another army just took their supplies which was why only a few potions are left.
The low-level potions are still fine as we still have some, but we don’t have enough high-quality level potions."
"If you really need it, I actually have potions in my hand, but I need your permission and the academy’s permission before I can let your soldiers use it," Ryzel said.
Ryzel was still a student of the academy so he couldn’t just give away the potions he just made to be used by others.
He needed to have the academy’s permission and Layton Lewis’ permission for him to take out the potions he made to be used by others.
"The academy already gave you permission to use whatever you can during your internship period.
When you submitted your research papers the Academy already evaluated you as capable enough and doesn’t need to be further supervised by the school.
As you are already having your internship in the ninth army, you only need my permission to have what you made be used by our soldiers," Layton Lewis explained.
"I see, so that’s why they also agreed immediately when I made a request to make potions in another place."
Ryzel’s request was immediately granted permission when he had asked his professor if he could make potions outside. It seems that the school already gave him the freedom to make potions wherever he was as he would be interning in the ninth army.
The school also doesn’t have any more responsibility to check the potions he was going to make. The ninth army would be the ones checking the quality of the potions he was making as long as he was in it.
"Yes, now that you are in the ninth army, the school doesn’t need to be the one checking for the quality and effect of the potions you make. The ninth army would be the ones who’s going to check the quality of your potions from now on," Layton Lewis said.
"I see. Then, should I give you the potions I made for a quality check?"
"You can give it to Mervin later on, he was the one responsible for supplies.
He would also be recording the potions you made to be part of your grades as you are still having your internship here.
Let’s eat first, you can give the potions later."
"Ok," Ryzel said while nodding.
As he was talking with Layton Lewis, he didn’t pay much attention to his surroundings, but it seemed that they had already reached the cafeteria.
The canteen was very wide, it could easily fit a thousand of people in. At this time not a lot of people were in the canteen.
He could only see a few soldiers who were hurriedly eating their breakfast; it seemed that they were still very busy as they all ate hurriedly.
Those people should be some of the people who don’t like nutrient solutions very much because they were already pressed for time, but they still opted to eat hurriedly rather than to just drink a nutrient solution.
They went to the front and Ryzel could see that a lot of food was prepared. There was also a separate section for guides meal. The dishes in the guides section were obviously catered to them as most of it were vegetables with only few meat dishes.
"What do you want to eat?" Layton Lewis asked.
"I’ll try some of these first," Ryzel said while pointing at some of the dishes that looked more appetizing.
"Okay, I’ll get them for you. You could go and sit first."
Ryzel nodded and looked for a good place to sit. After looking around for a bit, he chose to sit at the corner for them not to bother other soldiers.
He knew that with Layton Lewis by his side some of the soldiers would feel a little bit uncomfortable, especially those with lower ranks. They already looked so hurried, so he doesn’t want to make them even more uncomfortable.
After sitting for a while Layton Lewis came carrying a lot of trays with him.
Layton Lewis put down the tray and sat down in front of him.
"Ryzel, let’s eat," Layton Lewis said while serving some food to Ryzel’s plate.
Ryzel tasted the dishes in front of him and even though they weren’t that delicious, he could still say that they are all cooked well.
"How is it?"
"It doesn’t taste as good as the one you cooked but they are still okay," Ryzel said honestly.
He wasn’t as picky with food as he could eat whatever was in front of him regarding how it tastes as long as his body doesn’t reject but he could only say that he became accustomed to the dishes prepared by Layton Lewis.
Ryzel realized that he had already become accustomed to the dishes prepared by Layton Lewis just by eating them for a few days. Well, he wasn’t surprised about it as the dishes cooked by Layton Lewis were all very delicious.
"I’ll be able to cook for you again after this emergency. For now, you can only eat what’s prepared here in the canteen," Layton Lewis said.
"That’s great! I’m looking forward to the dishes you’ll prepare later," Ryzel said.
Ryzel and Layton Lewis didn’t talk much and concentrated on eating. Ryzel consciously ate faster than his usual eating speed as he knew that Layton Lewis was still busy.
After eating Ryzel followed Layton Lewis to his office to give the potions he made to Mervin for a quality check.
