Apocalypse: Reborn with a Soul Sync Farming Space System-Chapter 183 Debts settled
Inside the space house, Alexander and Chris lay side by side on the floor, completely unconscious. Only the faint rise and fall of their chests showed that they were still alive.
Not far from them, Laurel remained crouched on the ground, her arms wrapped tightly around herself as her body trembled uncontrollably.
She did not know how long she had been fighting it. Every second stretched endlessly, like it was forever.
Her teeth chattered softly as her fingers pressed into her arms, trying to hold onto any trace of warmth, yet the chill clung stubbornly to her bones as if it had rooted itself deep within her. Her breathing came out uneven, and her vision blurred at the edges as her strength continued to fade.
Somewhere in the distance, she heard voices.
They sounded distorted and far away, overlapping as if they were being pulled apart before reaching her.
"Laurel..."
"...condition unstable..."
"...her temperature is dropping..."
She tried to focus on them, but the words slipped through her mind before she could fully grasp them, and no matter how much she tried to respond, her body refused to cooperate as the cold dragged her deeper into darkness.
Then everything went silent.
...
Time passed slowly, though she could not tell how long.
A faint warmth began to spread across her skin. It was subtle at first but gradually became more noticeable as if something had been wrapped around her, shielding her from the biting cold that had consumed her earlier.
Her fingers twitched slightly, and her brows furrowed as her breathing became even. Her consciousness slowly returned as she stirred, pulling away from the blanket of darkness.
After a moment, her eyes fluttered open, though her vision remained unfocused for a brief second before clarity returned.
"The space..." She murmured weakly, her voice hoarse as she blinked slowly.
Her gaze lowered as she noticed the thermo blanket wrapped around her, its warmth was comforting as it worked against the lingering cold in her body. She adjusted it slightly around herself, her fingers still trembling faintly as she pushed herself up, though her body remained weak.
’What the hell was that?’
"Laurel, you’re awake." Ling Xuan’s voice reached her clearly this time.
Laurel turned her head slowly, her movements sluggish as her eyes found Ling Xuan standing nearby, her expression calm and composed as always, while Luo hovered beside her, its eyes full of worry.
Laurel nodded faintly as her thoughts caught up, but the moment they did, her gaze snapped toward the two figures lying on the floor.
"Alexander... Chris..."
Her voice came out weak but urgent as worry filled her expression, her brows drawing together as she stared at their unmoving forms.
"They are still unconscious," she said, her tone tightening slightly. "What did you do to them... you didn’t break their necks, right?"
Ling Xuan glanced at her briefly before answering in a calm and indifferent tone. "They are fine. I only knocked them out."
Laurel exhaled slowly, the tension in her shoulders easing slightly, though her gaze lingered on them as if she needed to confirm it for herself.
"They will wake up," Ling Xuan added.
Before Laurel could respond, a familiar screen appeared before her.
[Mission 011 completed. Hosts have successfully harvested the starleaf flowers.
Rewards granted.
Points: 10000
Coins: 300
Ability unlocked: Florist]
Laurel blinked as she read the message, her tired eyes narrowing slightly as she focused on the last line.
"Florist..." she murmured.
The system responded without delay.
[Ability: Florist
Description: {Allows the host to identify, cultivate, and harvest plant-based resources with maximum efficiency.}
Effects: {Enhances plant compatibility, increases survival rate of harvested plants, and enables detection of plant properties including toxicity, medicinal value, and growth conditions.}
Additional effect: {Improves precision during harvesting, preventing damage to roots and essential structures.}]
Laurel stared at the screen for a moment, her thoughts moving slowly as she processed the information.
"So it makes harvesting easier... and more accurate," she said softly.
[Correct.]
The screen shifted again.
[Hosts would you like to settle the debts now?]
"Yes." Ling Xuan replied.
[Debt settlement in progress...]
[Item delivered: {2 Snow Lotus flowers}
Recipient: {Interdimensional trader}]
[Transaction complete.]
Laurel’s fingers tightened slightly around the blanket as she read the message, her gaze lingering on it.
"So we don’t have to worry about our supplies being taken." She muttered to herself, sighing in relief.
She hesitated briefly before asking another question, her voice quieter this time.
"What exactly is the Snow Lotus?"
There was a short pause before the system responded.
[Snow Lotus: Rare spiritual plant.]
[Origin: Not native to this current world.
Properties: {Contains high concentration of pure energy. Capable of stabilizing life force, enhancing regeneration, and purifying corrupted elements.}
Usage: {High value across multiple dimensions.}
Demand source: External dimensional entity.]
Laurel’s brows furrowed slightly as she absorbed the explanation, her gaze lowering as she thought back to the cave, the mist, and the barrier that had protected the flowers so fiercely.
"That explains why it was guarded like that," she said quietly.
The system did not respond further.
Laurel adjusted the thermo blanket around herself again, pulling it closer as the warmth slowly spread through her body, easing the cold little by little, though her strength had not fully returned.
Her gaze shifted once more to Alexander and Chris, her expression softening slightly as she watched their steady breathing.
"We should wake them soon," she said, her voice still carrying a trace of concern. "And we should find a way to get back to the others... I don’t feel too good about our separation."
Laurel couldn’t understand why she suddenly felt something was wrong.
Ling Xuan glanced at her. "I know we should find them. But how can we locate them? And not to mention if any of us comes out, we might still be inside the collapsed cave."
Before Laurel could think of anything, Luo floated to their middle.
"As long as you are in the system’s space, you can teleport anywhere you want if you want to go out." Luo glanced at Ling Xuan briefly before turning to Laurel.
