After Betrayal: Lightning Marriage to Mr. Enigmatic-Chapter 17 Father and Son Estrangement
Chapter 17 - 17 Father and Son Estrangement
Connor drove the car with Harry Hunter heading towards the Hunter Family villa. Several times on the way, he glanced at Harry, seeming like he wanted to say something but stopped. Harry kept his head down, engrossed in his documents, immersed in work, forcing Connor to swallow his words.
Returning to the Hunter Family, the servants, seeing the rare appearance of Harry, all bowed their heads respectfully.
Leon Hunter sat in the living room. Seeing Harry return alone, his expression darkened slightly, "Where's your girlfriend? Didn't you say you'd bring her to meet me? Are you brushing me off again by randomly finding someone?"
Harry stood at the entrance, sunlight streaming from behind him, making him appear somewhat dazzling. However, his face, not reached by the light, was emotionless.
He didn't say anything. Connor stood outside the door, eagerly wanting to explain but not daring to speak.
Leon rose and walked to his son's side, his voice laden with sorrow, "The doctor has given the final ultimatum; your grandfather has at most six months left. He loves you the most, and yet you won't fulfill his last wish? This is the greatest unfilial conduct!"
"Did you call me back just to say this?"
Harry spoke without emotion, "In the future, just say it over the phone. I'm very busy."
As he spoke, he turned to leave, and Leon slapped him hard with a "smack!"
Connor was startled, hurriedly stepping forward, "Young Master!"
Harry's fair face bore a bright red handprint, yet he seemed to feel no pain, not even frowning as he continued walking out.
Leon was furious, "You get married immediately! If you haven't married before your grandfather closes his eyes, don't think you're getting anything from the Hunter Family! I won't give you a penny!"
Harry's face finally showed emotion; he revealed a cruel smile, "Are you addicted to raising someone else's son? You've long wanted to give everything from the Hunter Family to that woman and her son, right? You can try to give it a shot and see. If I let them live past this year, I'll change my surname from Hunter!"
"You!!"
Leon pointed at him, too angry to speak.
However, Harry paid no heed, striding away decisively.
Connor was about to follow when Leon angrily called him back, "Connor! What's on his face?"
Consumed with anger towards Harry, he hadn't noticed the lip mark on Harry's face until Harry turned around.
Connor paused, knowing what Leon was asking. He had been waiting for Leon to ask.
"It's from the Young Master being kissed by his girlfriend, leaving a lipstick mark!"
Leon's anger immediately decreased by half, "He really has a girlfriend?"
"Yes, truly!"
"Is it the girl who spoke with me on the phone? What's her name again? Isabella?"
"Yes, Isabella Weaver!"
"I smelled alcohol on him; he didn't go to any disreputable places, did he? He didn't find one of those kinds of women?"
"Of course not, the Young Master isn't that kind of person! You know better than anyone, Young Master has high standards and keeps to himself. Those kinds of women can't get near him!"
Leon thought carefully, feeling it made some sense, his expression eased slightly, and he waved Connor away.
Connor didn't leave, cautiously advising, "Sir, it's best not to hit the Young Master in the future. He's grown up now, doing this would only embarrass him."
Leon's face turned cold, "You dare tell me what to do now?"
Connor lowered his head, "I wouldn't dare."
"Go, keep a good eye on him, and remember to report everything to me."
"Yes."
Connor replied absentmindedly, turning to chase after Harry.
Once in the car, Connor handed Harry a wet wipe, "Young Master, there's lipstick on your face."
Harry was taken aback. A glance at the rearview mirror revealed a handprint on his left cheek and a lipstick mark on his right.
He took the wet wipe and slowly removed the lipstick mark; his previously foul mood slightly eased.
The car drove a long way before he unconsciously touched his right cheek, feeling as if the softness was still there.
