"Fake persons?" Liam asked.

"You would not want to lose the chance to cherish your real daughter, right? While you can still keep Shikera around, there are also countless things that need to be settled as soon as possible," Ethan replied without a break, that Shikera, Noah, Enoch and Ruthlyn were starting to believe this was not the Ethan they knew.

Perhaps this was just another person that looked like Ethan, just like Shikera and Elizabeth’s situation now.

"Ethan..." Liam started, "I think we should take this test in another hospital. How can you expect me to believe that a girl that grew up right in front of me is not my daughter? If Natalia really took her daughter with her, then how come I also had a baby with me?"

The door opened at that moment and Raymond walked in, exhaustion and fatigue vividly expressed on his face. He was holding a bulky folder which he walked straight to Ethan and handed over,

"Here it is, Sir."

Ethan opened the folder and brought out a stack of papers which he simply flipped through before passing them to Liam.

"That’s the explanation over there. How you got another baby when your wife already took one with her," he stated.

Liam eyes widened in surprise and he quickly scanned through the papers, his eyes widening the more he read what was there. Curiosity having overcame her whole body, Shikera stood up and went to snatch the papers from Liam’s hands. She opened it and right from when her eyes caught the heading of the very first page, her hands began to shake.

Shikera read through it, taking note of every single letter and word, every single punctuation marks and dot, to make sure she would not misread or misunderstand any sentence in the paper. At one point, she felt cramped and had to look back to see that Noah, Ruthlyn and Enoch were now standing behind her and reading with her.

She finished reading it after a few minutes, and walked back to the couch to take her seat. Even though her legs were shaking beneath her, Shikera tried to stay strong and only collapsed when she got to the couch.

"What...what’s next now?" she whispered, even though her voice was loud enough for everyone to hear in the quiet office.

"A minute, Kera. Ethan, you’re sure the DNA can be trusted?" Noah asked, a skeptical look on his face.

"It can. This is a doctor that everyone here trusts," Ethan replied. He continued, "Including Mrs Anderson."

Natalia nodded in agreement, "Yes. He was the one who helped when I delivered Elizabeth so I do trust him—"

"Stop! This is getting tiring...Let someone just tell me what’s next and let’s fucking leave this place!" Shikera cut in, her voice sounding strangled to the ears of everyone present.

Liam walked over to her with a reassuring smile, "It’s nothing, Princess. You have always been my daughter and will always be my daughter."

"That’s not true," Shikera sighed.

"It is, Shikera —"

"Yes, that’s it. I am now Shikera and not princess! I can’t even say I’m ’Shikera’ because you named me that...Just how careless, how careless could you be for a baby to be sneaked into your home without your knowledge, Mr Anderson!"

Natalia’s head snapped up when she heard that, and her eyes sparkled in realization.

"She was sneaked into your home, Liam?"

"That’s what Ethan’s research revealed," Liam answered.

"And? Who sneaked her into the house and why?" Natalia continued questioning in excitement.

"From Ethan’s research, it looks like The Jordans planned this. It’s a ploy to get me to trust her and for her to get all the necessary information that will be useful for them to infiltrate the Mega families without any disruptions," Liam explained.

"And they thought it was that easy?" Natalia asked again. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

"Apparently, because of your words on TV, they sensed something was wrong somewhere and were quick to gather information on us. I guess one of the maids was working with them then."

"Then," a small voice spoke up, causing them all to turn to her, "Does that mean you are working with them now?" Elizabeth asked, directing her question at Shikera.

"What kind of stupid question is that?"

"What the fuck are you saying?"

"That’s simply nonsense!"

"Where did that come from?!"

Before they could help themselves, Noah, Enoch, Ruthlyn and Liam had already jumped to Shikera’s defence.

Elizabeth cowered at the intensity of the anger expressed in their voices, as she had thought they would all be in support of what she said.

"I just...I just said that without thinking," she whispered.

"It’s alright, Miss Anderson. It’s a question you asked because you were curious," Ethan consoled her, flinching when he suddenly felt a cold glare directed at him.

He continued without minding the person staring at him, "The Jordans probably thought they would be able to approach her and bring her to their side when the time comes, since they thought she would be just as ambitious as they are. But then, they approached her and noticed the opposite, plus the fact that she was weak, so they decided to end her but...she survived."

"What?! She was almost killed after suffering all this while?" Natalia exclaimed, her empathizing eyes falling on Shikera.

Shikera hated that look, but she knew there was nothing she could do about it. She was way beneath the people in the room and she could not even dare to stand up to any of them.

Even Cyprian...how would her friend think of her now? Useless? That was far above her current status and weed would be more suitable. Being useless was different from being unwanted.

"Liam, we can’t just let her go like this. After all, she is still a child that was used. We can...yes, we can adopt her! It won’t be much of a problem anyway," Natalia suggested.

As if to ask for her approval, Liam turned to stare at Shikera, but was met with a hard stare.
