The Faceless Billionaire Celebrity Wife - Chapter 172: Fake Persons.
"Woah! Daddy, it’s night already," Shikera exclaimed.
"I’m surprised too. To think that we could wait for this long without getting bored," Liam replied her, matching her enthusiasm with a loud voice.
From an onlookers point of view, one would think that Shikera and Liam were so absorbed in sharing stories of these past few months with each other that they had not noticed that several hours had passed. But the father and daughter duo knew it was nothing like that.
The doctor had come earlier and had collected strands of both her and her father’s hair and also that of Elizabeth’s hair, before leaving again. He had told them he would be back in a few hours and they were still waiting until now. With the time reading thirty minutes past eight and most of the employees already out of the company building, Ruthlyn and Enoch had already joined them in the office.
While the two busied themselves discussing similarities between Shikera and Elizabeth, Shikera and Liam sat together and discussed halfheartedly while casting nervous glances at different sides.
Liam’s eyes were on Natalia, and he couldn’t help but think she felt different from before. Maybe, a little colder...and tougher. Was it the years that passed that made her like this? Or did the woman he love really turn into a different person?
On the other hand, Shikera’s eyes didn’t leave Ethan’s face for more than ten seconds, and she always frowned when she saw how uncaring he was. As much as she tried to keep negative thoughts away from her mind, her mind kept imagining scenarios of what would happen if the DNA result came out and she was not her father’s daughter.
Would she have to divorce Ethan? That was a sure thing... though she didn’t want to think of it. All she knew was that she would lose everything she had, as she got everything by being the princess of the Anderson family. Once again, her eyes strayed towards Ethan and she sighed, contented with watching his half covered face.
He looked just as fierce and cold as he was on the day they signed their marriage contract, and she was feeling a little hesitant to approach him. Not after he had just placed her at arm length just some hours ago.
Just then, the sound of a knock came from the door and everyone in the room sat up and fell silent. Ethan stood up from the chair and walked back to the couch he had been sitting on before, with his hands tucked securely in his pocket. In fact, Shikera felt he was too relaxed about the same thing.
She knew this matter was not of his concern but then... did he not say he liked her? If that was the case, was he not supposed to be worried just like she was right now? If she ended up not being Liam’s daughter, it meant they would not be able to stay together and that thought was killing her already! If the thought hurt this much, then how would she feel if it happened in reality.
"Shikera?! What are you thinking about?" Noah’s question snapped her out of her thoughts and she hurriedly apologized as all eyes were now on her.
"So sorry...I was just out of my—"
"It’s alright, Princess. The doctor was just about to announce the results and even though I would have preferred to hear it privately, I know you kids won’t agree with me," Liam said.
"It’s great that you know," Noah muttered.
The group fell silent, waiting for the doctor to talk and when he finally did, he was looking straight at Ethan with a creased forehead.
"I mobilized our best team to do this under President DeLoach’s order and made sure there was no opportunity for anyone to tamper with it," he paused for a while, his eyes making a quick sweep around the room before he continued, "I got the results here."
Noah hissed,"And what’s with the tension? Just tell us the results."
"Oh okay...Miss Ander—Miss Shikera, I mean, does not have a father daughter match with Chairman Anderson. While Miss Elizabeth has been confirmed to be his... daughter," the doctor announced.
The office fell silent for a whole five minutes before Ethan broke it,"Enoch, escort the doctor out."
When Enoch who was still numb with shock failed to comply with his orders, Ethan had to repeat his words.
"Enoch!"
"Yes... Alright, Sir!"
He scurried to his feet and led the doctor out of the office, only to rush back as soon as the man got into the elevator. The room was still silent when he got back, and he tiptoed back to his seat beside Ruthlyn.
"Hey..." he called, his voice barely audible enough for Ruthlyn to hear.
"Say something reasonable, Enoch," Ruthlyn whispered back.
Hearing that, Enoch kept his mouth shut as he knew whatever he said at this moment would sound stupid to Ruthlyn’s ears.
"What is your plan now, Chairman Anderson?" Ethan spoke up, shocking everyone in the room with his quick acceptance of the results.
"There is no plan. Shikera is my daughter and nothing will change that, Ethan. Plus she is your wife too so how can you just—"
"She is his wife?"
Heads turned in the direction of the person who asked that question, Elizabeth...And from the expression on Natalia’s face, one could tell that she was surprised too by what Elizabeth said.
"And what if I’m his wife?" Shikera could not withhold herself from asking. Actually, she was scoffing inwardly at her own behavior.
’You aren’t angry that you will be stripped of your position as Liam Anderson’s daughter, but you are scared you will have to divorce Ethan?’
It was obvious from the way everyone switched their stares from Elizabeth to Shikera, that they were also surprised with what they heard her say.
"Chairman Anderson, as much as I also do not want to believe the results of the DNA tests, I also hate deluding myself into holding onto fake ideas...and fake persons," Ethan chimed in, guiding them all back to the main discussion.
