Chapter 174: Vent Her Anger.

Music Rec: Nightcore By Alan Walker.

"What? Don’t tell me you are thinking of adopting me, Mr Anderson. You will adopt me and then pay extra attention to me from now on? Thanks, but I’ll pass," Shikera stated. She picked her bag and rose from the couch to approach Elizabeth.

She stopped when she got to her front, and slipped her hand into her bag to remove her black card.

"Here, it’s yours," she smiled.

As if she had been waiting for it, Elizabeth collected the card immediately and handed it over to Natalia, who was still wearing a surprised expression.

Shikera gave a wry smile and then turned back to face her father. "I hope I won’t be approached by anyone related to you, Mr Anderson, unless there’s a development in this case that actually requires my attention. Though I doubt that might happen," she said. She waved in her usual manner to Ruthlyn and without even sparing Ethan a glance, she walked out of the office and straight to the presidential elevator.

The elevator opened and she stepped in to see Noah follow after her.

"What...I didn’t even know you were following me," she frowned, unable to keep up her nonchalant look in front of someone who had been her brother and ally all her life.

"You expect to know when a special agent is following you?" Noah asked, and when he saw that Shikera was ignoring his question, he changed the topic, "How are you feeling?"

Shikera scoffed at his question, "If I say fine, would you believe me?"

"No, I guess I’m just asking for asking sake. Vent your anger, Kera," He implored.

"Anger? You think I deserve to be angry at this moment, Noah? Wait...why are you even following me? Shouldn’t you be with your sister?" Shikera asked, her eyes fixed suspiciously on him. Even though it was too much to think that Noah had an ulterior motive for following her, she did not forget that he was still a special military agent after all, and that his whole being was dedicated to protecting his family.

If he decided to end her life there and then because she was now a danger to his family, she might be dissapointed but would not hold anything against him.

"You are the only sister I will have, Shikera. And why do you think you have no right to be angry?"

"Because I really don’t. If someone should be angry, it should be Elizabeth or her mother...or even Daddy. He took care of his enemy’s daughter for a whole 25 years and for Elizabeth, she had to suffer from sickness because of lack of money, when her father is busy taking care of another man’s child somewhere."

Noah stayed silent, unable to get an appropriate reply to what Shikera said. It was probably because he was used to supporting her all his life, that his brain could not even process anything that would go against what she said.

"Anyways," he started,"No matter how many times another daughter is brought in, I will only see Shikera Anderson as my sister."

Shikera laughed mockingly at that, trying to hide the tears that were threatening to fall from her eyes. She was delighted when the elevator opened into the lobby and she turned to face Noah.

"I hear you, Big brother Noah. You can go back to your sister now," she whispered.

"Big brother Noah...that sounds cringe so just call me Noah like you always do. And if it makes you feel better, that woman is not my mother too."

"Stop the stupid jokes. I’m not a five year old baby girl," Shikera chuckled, stepping out of the elevator with Noah beside her.

"I’m not joking. She really didn’t give birth to me." His tone was serious this time around and Shikera had to view him seriously too.

"What are you saying, Noah?"

"My mother died earlier I think, but Natalia treated me so well that I accepted her as my mother but now, I don’t think I can still do that. She seems to have changed," Noah explained.

"And you didn’t even bother to tell me?" Shikera asked. Seeing the nonchalant look on Noah’s face, she felt tempted to hit him. But at the same time, she dared not.

"There was no need then since I thought we were both motherless," Noah replied.

"But now, I am literally an orphan while you are just motherless," Shikera pointed out.

"Won’t you stop that? Anyways, you are going back to the villa, right?"

Noah’s question made Shikera stop dead in her tracks. She hadn’t even thought of where to sleep tonight. Ethan’s villa was out of the question with the way he was treating her now, her father’s mansion was too. She could not imagine sleeping in that house ever again.

That left her to sleep in either Cyprian’s house or an hotel, anywhere. She could not go to Cyprian now as she did not know what her friend would think about this whole drama, so an hotel was the only option.

"I guess, but only to pack my things and then move to an hotel somewhere," Shikera answered.

"What?! Your marriage with Ethan hasn’t been annulled yet and you two have feelings for each other so why can’t you stay there at least?" Noah asked with widened eyes. He really could not understand women.

"You are wrong. I think it’s a fleeting feelings kind of thing. I don’t like him that much and he? Let’s just say we needed each other but I am of no use now," she answered. The confidence in her voice almost convinced Noah but he withheld himself.

They were now at the underground garage and standing in front of Shikera’s car.

"I can get an apartment for you," Noah proposed.

"Don’t—i will really appreciate that," Shikera accepted. She was about to refuse but on second thought, realized that she wouldn’t be able to cut contact with her brother completely.

"I will get it ready by tomorrow so for tonight, just sleep at the Villa."

"I won’t, no matter what you say so just let it rest. Call me tomorrow when you get the apartment ready."

She wished him good night and entered into her car, driving off into the bleak, dark night.
