The Faceless Billionaire Celebrity Wife - Chapter 130: Relationship Counselor
Few Minutes Ago.
Raymond slammed the door as soon as he entered the office, causing Ethan to look up and glare at him.
"What’s the rush about?"
Raymond calmed himself down before speaking, trying to make sure his words would come out coherent.
"It’s one of the secretaries outside! She just solved my problem regarding Rian, and very wisely at that! She says she is a relationship expert or something like that," he replied Ethan, whose brows raised as soon as he heard that.
"How did you know she really solved the problem? Have you tried discussing it with Miss Leigh and it turns out she is right?"
"I did that immediately. Since we came back from the trip, Cyprian has never replied my messages. I texted her today that I’m sorry for leaving the card when...forget that part, the point is that this time around, she replied with an angry emoji. It means I have actually found out part, if not all of the reason she has not been replying me!" Raymond’s voice was excited as he behaved like one giving a testimony in church.
"Get her in here," Ethan ordered, picking up his facemask from the table and fastening it across his face.
"Alright but..."
"But what? How much did she charge?"
"She didn’t charge anything. I wanted to ask for permission to leave for a few minutes, just until the lunch break is over." His eyes were pleading and Ethan could not bear to refuse him.
"Just make sure Enoch and Ruth are not having their own escape too," he agreed, waving him off.
Presently...
Mrs Mason walked into the office and went to stand before Ethan’s desk, bowing slightly so as to avoid his face.
"Good day, President DeLoach," she greeted, expecting him to scold her or something, but was surprised when he walked around the table and went to sit on the couch before inviting her to do the same.
"You are?" he asked, trying to sound as polite as he could.
"Mrs Lu Mason, Mrs Mason to be precise," the older woman replied.
"Alright, Mrs Mason. Ray told me you helped with his uhm...question. I have one of mine and I want to know if you can help with that."
Mrs Mason breathed a sigh of relief, as she nodded vigorously.
"I will do my very best to help, Sir! What happened to your ’friend’s’ girlfriend?" she replied, knowing that Ethan would want to use a non existent friend as cover too.
"Getting straight to the point..." he recited everything that happened between him and Shikera the previous night, telling her about Esther and even Hazel. All through his story, he addressed himself as his friend, while Shikera was his friend’s wife and Hazel was his friend’s maid who grew up with him, though he could not remember much about her.
Mrs Mason thought for a while after Ethan had concluded his explanation, her eyes unfocused as she seemed to be consulting an unseen oracle. When she finally talked, a smile was tugging at the corner of her lips.
"President DeLoach, your friend, why did he not say anything to support his wife when she was trying to show her territory to her the maid? Does your friend still have a little... maybe leftover feelings from their childhood days?" she asked. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
"What leftover feelings? And why are you saying the same thing as she did about rekindling feelings with the worker? He was simply surprised at that moment because she had never behaved like that, so he was completely speechless—"
"Enough!" Mrs Mason took the chance to reprimand her boss at this moment. "It’s your friend’s fault no matter how much I think about it. All he has to do now is to get to her as soon as possible before she begins to overthink things," she advised.
Ethan was silent, still not knowing where he had gone wrong.
"But then, why exactly did she behave like that though?" he asked.
"She is jealous. The kitchen is supposed to be the sacred space she sees you cooking, but now, she sees your childhood friend with you and what more? The other person tried to tell her she’s trespassing in the kitchen and addressed you both as we!"
"Another problem," Ethan sighed. As he expected, all women were complicated.
He continued, "Is it that her expression was wrong or what? We, is used to describe two or more people, right?" He looked genuinely confused and Mrs Mason could not help but laugh inwardly.
’He’s so dense!’ she thought.
"That’s because your friend’s wife doesn’t want to share him with anyone else. The maid’s usage of we there, was kind of informal and your wife finds it hard to picture you both in one frame. That’s all," she explained patiently.
"Alright, thanks very much! If you need a favor from—"
"I do need one now, Sir! I don’t care when you can get it done, but I want it as soon as possible," she cut him off, not bothering about how rude she sounded.
"Okay...what is the favor?" Ethan was surprised, but he hid it, trying not to think that the woman had decided to approach him and Raymond because of the favor she needed.
He thought she would ask for a house, a car or any other luxury items, so he was surprised when she asked instead,
"Could you help me arrange a meeting with Chairman Anderson’s daughter, Miss Shikera? I can’t go to her workplace because my face is quite common among the reporters, since I accompany Chairman Anderson most of the time on outings." She clasped her hand together in front of herself, pleading with her eyes.
"Why do you want to meet her?" he asked, wanting to be sure the woman didn’t have any evil motive.
"I have something to tell her urgently."
"I will try to contact her and see if she wants to see you. If she doesn’t, then there is nothing I can do about it," he promised, standing up to his feet and excusing himself.
He had to start working as soon as possible so he could get home earlier than usual. He needed to meet Shikera and tell her he now had the meaning to what she said the previous night, before he apologized to her.
