The Faceless Billionaire Celebrity Wife - Chapter 129: Relationship Counsellor.
"What’s the matter?"
The emotionless eyes she stared up at him with, seemed to take all of Enoch’s courage away.
"Uh? Yeah, I wanted to give you my card. Get anything you want with it," he whispered.
"And why should I take it? Is this an apology?"
Enoch chuckled, trying to cover up his embarrassment.
"What is the use of an apology when we are not fighting? I just wanted to give this—"
"Thanks," Ruthlyn cut him off curtly."I don’t need your card."
Noticing that her tone was firm, Enoch straightened himself and walked back to his seat dejectedly.
"What happened?! Did she take it or not?" Raymond asked, hoping in his mind that Ruthlyn didn’t collect the card. Then, he would be sure that he did not offend Cyprian. Having tried to call her these past few days and she didn’t pick his call, he was getting worried already.
"She didn’t."
Raymond sighed in relief and was about to leave for Ethan’s office when a matured voice stopped him.
"Uhm...Mister?"
He turned swiftly on his heels, his brows furrowed in confusion.
"Me?" he asked, his eyes trailing down to read the woman’s name tag.
"Yes. May I ask why you wanted to offer Miss Stone your card? By chance, do you like her?!"
Seeing how the woman’s eyes seemed excited like someone who was about to hear an exclusive gossip, Raymond almost ignored her but he restrained himself.
"Like her as in...?" he asked, forget that the employees here didn’t know his relationship with Ruthlyn.
"Wait, how did you know we offered her a card, Mrs Mason?"
With a knowing smile on her lips, the woman answered,"Probably because I’m sitting between Miss Stone and Mr. D. I understand if you want to keep things to yourself but if you need help to sort out your feelings, I am always here. And you can trust me too."
With those parting words, she turned to leave when...
"Are you free at the moment?" Raymond stopped her.
’There’s no harm in trying, right?’ he thought.
"I am. The coffee room?" Mrs Mason suggested and Raymond agreed.
Together, they walked to the coffee room and took their seats on the chairs meant for the employees who came for a break in the coffee room.
"So, spill it out," Mrs Mason ordered, after she was sure the both of them were already settled in their seats.
Raymond shifted uncomfortably on his chair, inhaling and exhaling deeply as he summoned up courage.
"Alright so, I am actually asking this for a friend of mine. So his girlfriend hasn’t been talking to him for the past few days, after a...uhm night together. She did the same four years ago when they spent the night together too, so he doesn’t know what the problem is," he explained, substituting himself for a non existent friend.
Mrs Mason seemed to understand him as she nodded with a serious expression on her face, that Raymond could not guess what she was thinking.
"Your friend...the fact that she spent another night with him means he’s not bad in bed," she wondered out loud.
"Bad in bed?! Ah, she was moan—"
"Mister, were you watching them while they did the deed?" Mrs Mason asked, glaring at Raymond and his mouth went shut.
"No, it’s just that...that is totally out of point! That can’t be the reason," he defended himself.
"And if you think well, you will remember that’s what I said earlier. Next question, is there any thing that your friend did four years ago and did again this time around? Maybe what she was stressing about after that night?"
Raymond shook his head, deep in thought.
"No, nothing comes to mind," he answered.
"You are sure? Quick question, what does your friend’s girlfriend have to do with the card you gave Miss Stone?"
’Card...Card? Card!" Raymond’s eyes lighted up immediately.
"Forget about Miss Stone! I remember now, she stressed about returning my friend’s card, which he gave her earlier that morning, to him. I think she did that four years ago too. Doesn’t she want to spend my money?"
Raymond didn’t notice the slip, but Mrs Mason did and her eyes widened in realization. This was the reason for their experiment, although she still could not understand why Mr D and Miss Stone were used.
"Alright so this your friend gave his card the morning after they spent the night together, both four years ago and now. She got angry both times, right?"
"She did."
"Okay! It’s all your friend’s fault for being senseless and insensitive. Why would he give her money immediately after a night together, when she didn’t sleep with him for the money? I bet he didn’t even cuddle her until she woke up, right or wrong?"
Raymond’s eyes widened in realization and he felt as if a heavy burden had been lifted from his shoulders. Now, he knew he had to apologize to Cyprian and the reason why. He was about to thank Mrs Mason when she stopped him with her hand.
"Answer my question. Did he cuddle her or not?"
"He didn’t. He left before she woke up because he had work to do... Anyways, thanks very much Mrs Mason, I will be sure to repay this help. I promise!" He stood up and walked out of the room.
Mrs Mason shook her head as she stared at his downcast back.
"I guess he really is stupid. Apart from his slip of tongue, how could he have answered my question on whether he cuddled her or not? Isn’t he scared I would have asked if he’s—"
"Mrs Mason?!"
"Yes?" She jolted, turning to the door to see a fellow secretary.
"Mr DeLoach is asking to see you in his office. Did you commit a grave mistake?" 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
"I didn’t. Did the Mister just now report me to him and said I’m idling around?!" She questioned herself, her mind running wild with countless imaginations.
"Even if you are scared, you should not keep him waiting though, Mrs Mason."
She watched her co-secretary leave before standing up to go to Ethan’s office.
’Knock Knock.’
"Come in," a cool, calm voice came from inside and she pushed the door open to step inside the room.
