Chapter 216: "But your problem is with me,"

Loviator, observing the shifting tide of the battle, realised that her advantage was slipping away. She understood that the dragon heart scales needed to be destroyed to prevent King Luo from obtaining them back, for it would make him virtually unstoppable. Determined to secure her nefarious plot, Loviator stood up.

Watching her rise, a wave of worry washed over King Luo. He feared that Loviator would go harm Qie Xieling before Jolie got to him.

Without hesitation, King Luo leapt into the sky, hovering gracefully in mid-air, and called out the goddess’ name. His resolute voice carried across the battlefield, a clear indication that he was ready to confront her head-on. The air crackled with a suffocating tension.

Queen Yana was seething with anger because he wasn’t addressing her, let alone looking at her. She was the one who had taken his throne and manipulated his top sorcerer to betray him yet she was being ignored.

Loviatar, her eyes burning with unbridled hatred, sneered at King Luo. "What do you want? Your problem is with Yana, not me," she hissed mockingly as if anticipating his response.

Undeterred, King Luo stepped forward with determination. "But your problem is with me," he declared firmly, his voice steady despite the adrenaline coursing through his veins.

Loviatar paused, a wicked smile playing on her lips. She stroked her chin in feigned contemplation, fully aware of the protective charm that Bahamut had placed upon him. This charm made him untouchable, frustrating Loviatar’s every attempt to exact her twisted revenge. She had already suffered heavy losses in the past and had to return to the underworld cursing Bahamut wherever she was. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"You are being so brave because you are hiding behind mummy dearest’s protective charm. I heard that she tore off her dragon heart scales herself to make it," she said and King Luo clenched his fist struggling to control his anger.

"We can settle our differences but you would have to make the fight fair." Loviatar’s voice dripped with malice as she proposed a dangerous proposition. "Remove the protection charm, and we shall settle this once and for all."

King Luo hesitated, fully aware of the risks involved. He knew that by removing the charm, he would be vulnerable to Loviatar’s ferocity as the protective charm was especially made to defend against her. But he also knew that, in doing so, he would buy precious time for Qie Xieling.

With a deep breath, King Luo made up his mind. Qie Xieling’s fate hung in the balance, and he was willing to face any price. "Very well," he agreed, his voice filled with resolve.

"No," yelled Yunning her heart in turmoil. If King Luo did this he might die and she didn’t want that at all. She couldn’t believe that for Eling he would willingly put himself in such a deadly situation.

At that moment, Loviatar turned her gaze towards Yunning. A wicked smile danced upon her lips as if she knew the secrets hidden within Yunning’s heart. Yunning shrank back under Loviatar’s gaze, a mix of guilt and fear washing over her. Loviator looked away and locked eyes with King Luo before saying, "Well, you have the neck to surround yourself with treasonous people. You really should choose better."

King Luo’s brow creased before he glanced back. He had his suspicions but he was too distraught to dwell on it. He just wanted to save Qie Xieling as soon as possible.

When Yunning met King Luo’s gaze she shivered subconsciously while stammering, "I... I."

King Luo ignored her. From his expression, she could tell he was restraining himself.

Loviator clapped her hands and said, "Well then. Now that is sorted let’s get started. I need to be done by lunchtime... well, that is if you last that long."

The stage was set for a clash of power and revenge, as King Luo braced himself to face the wrath of Loviatar.

He removed the ring from his pinky finger. It glimmered in the dim light, a symbol of his past invincibility from the immortal. Deep down, he knew that surrendering his protection charm made him vulnerable, but for Qie Xieling he was willing to do anything, no matter the cost.

Loviatar revelled in Luo’s perceived foolishness. With his protection now gone, she relished the opportunity to exact her long-awaited revenge. She smirked, confident that she could finally defeat him and bring him to his knees just like she did to his mother.

In a swift motion, Loviatar swung her hand, sending King Luo hurtling through the air. The impact of his body against the ground created a sizable crater, testifying to the power behind her strike. Weakened and unable to transform into his formidable dragon form, he struggled to rise, coughing up blood as he found his footing.

Boran and Yunning rushed to intervene as they couldn’t just watch as he got killed. Yet, King Luo, determined to face his adversaries alone, shook his head, refusing their aid. This fight was his burden to bear, his battle to fight.

Summoning every ounce of willpower, King Luo pushed himself up, only to be struck down again by Loviatar. She taunted him, calling him pathetic and relishing in his vulnerability. He tried to retaliate, but his efforts proved futile against the might of the goddess.

Loviatar, revelling in her imminent triumph, stepped on his chest, further demeaning him and mocking his late mother for her perceived weakness. She could already taste the sweet victory. Her only regret was that the two of them weren’t here to witness the death of their love child.

Just as she prepared to land the final blow, a deadly ailment to bring him to his torturous death, her attention was diverted. Hickeys on his torn robe caught her eye, confusion crossing her features.

Before Loviatar could make sense of this unexpected sight, something struck her in the head with a resounding thud. A collective gasp escaped the onlookers, including Queen Yana, who had been watching with pleasure as her mother crushed her enemy.

"ELING!!!" she bellowed and Qie Xieling felt shivers all over his body.
