Zombie Bodyguard-Chapter 1601 - 1598: Competing on the Same Stage
First, the doors of the Ford business van opened, and four people emerged, dressed in black suits, wearing large sunglasses, tall in stature, all looking like bodyguards.
As soon as the four bodyguards got out of the van, they stood around the Alphard, all facing outward, guarding the Alphard in the middle. Lin Tian could tell from their agile movements that these were experienced professional bodyguards.
Why did Lin Tian think this way? Because some celebrities hire ordinary tall people, pretending to be bodyguards, who actually have no security experience, just to create an impression. Only big stars can afford hiring professional security companies.
Once the four bodyguards took their positions, the door of the Alphard star nanny van slowly opened, and a woman stepped out, carrying a handbag.
Lin Tian was about to leave, but when he saw the woman, he stopped, because he felt that he had seen her before. Then another woman stepped out, wearing large sunglasses that covered part of her face, but Lin Tian recognized her.
It turned out to be them, and Lin Tian’s eyes revealed an inexplicable smile. He had seen this sunglasses-wearing woman twice before, once on the plane and once in a photo. She was the big star, Bitong, and the girl carrying the bag was Bitong’s assistant, a kind young lady.
After Bitong got out of the car, she turned and walked towards the side door. Someone from inside opened the side, and Bitong, along with the bodyguards, all entered the grand hall. After contemplating for a moment, Lin Tian took out his phone and called Zhou Botong.
"Brother Lin Tian, we just parted ways yesterday, and you already miss me? That’s strange, with so many young and beautiful students at school, you’d feel lonely enough to chat with me, a man..." The familiar rambling voice echoed in his ear, typical of Zhou Botong’s style. Ou Mengmeng, who knows why she likes him.
"Stop rambling!" Lin Tian interrupted his chatter and asked, "Let me ask you something, did the flagship store invite Bitong as the image spokesperson?"
Zhou Botong answered quickly, "Of course not, and I’ve clearly informed her agency about it. Her agent even wanted to lash out at me, but I hung up on him without hesitation. The nerve of him, with such morally questionable stars under his wing, to dare lash out at me."
Lin Tian laughed, albeit this guy rambles on, he does effective work. Lin Tian chuckled, "You might not believe it, but I just saw her."
"What?" Zhou Botong exclaimed loudly, then lowered his voice, "Are you with Bitong? Brother, do you intend to take advantage of her, or is she bothering you? But she doesn’t know you’re a major shareholder of the flagship store, right? It can’t be a trouble; wait, do you really intend to take advantage of her?"
"You’re ridiculous!" Lin Tian retorted, annoyed, "Her assistant is a hundred times better than her. Why would I take advantage of her?"
"What? You’re interested in her assistant? I’ve seen that young lady once, quite pretty and pure. You have an eye for it." Zhou Botong jumped to conclusions, directing the topic to the assistant.
Lin Tian felt dizzy, irritated by the fellow, responded sarcastically, "Bitong is performing at our school, it’s the freshman welcome gala. Your imagination is too vivid, calm down."
"I see. Your school is quite capable, inviting such a big star." Zhou Botong praised.
Lin Tian dismissed, "The world’s strongest networking is among alumni, especially at a prestigious school like Jinghua University. Those alumni who have graduated often have impressive positions across various fields. When their alma mater asks for help, naturally they oblige. That’s the power of networks. Do you think people attend university just to learn knowledge? That view is too narrow."
"So what do you want with Bitong?" Zhou Botong asked ambiguously.
"Nothing much. Just happened to see her, so wanted to confirm with you. Given her character, I suspect her agent and company aren’t great and wanted to know if they were causing trouble." Lin Tian ignored the insinuation, stating his purpose.
"Rest assured, there’s no overt trouble, unless tricks are used." Zhou Botong replied.
"Tricks? I fear tricks the least." Lin Tian laughed slightly, ending the call.
He bypassed the side door and walked to the front entrance. By that time, students were already beginning to enter. As he reached the door, someone waved at him enthusiastically.
"Brother Lin, over here." It was Qiao Xiaoyi calling him. Lin Tian walked over, and Qiao Xiaoyi handed him a ticket, "This is the entrance ticket; without it, you can’t get in."
"Indeed, inviting such a big star without tickets would lead to chaos in the hall. I’ll go in first." Lin Tian smiled, understanding the formidable power of star-chasing.
Lin Tian waved goodbye to Qiao Xiaoyi and entered the hall. The hall was vast, with two tiers, seating thousands, ideal for hosting large-scale events.
In the aisles of the hall, signposts indicated each class’s name, the Life Science Class 1 had central seating on the first level. Lin Tian walked there, casually found a seat, and other classes were filling up, with everyone quietly discussing tonight’s gala, the focus naturally on the performing star.
Around seven, the busy class officers finished distributing tickets and returned, Qiao Xiaoyi sat next to Lin Tian.
"Brother Lin, earlier, security stopped many celebrity fans outside. They’re not from our school, sneaking in by climbing fences, fans are too crazy." Qiao Xiaoyi exclaimed.
Lin Tian merely smiled, "That’s nothing. Some fans even threaten suicide to meet a star."
"I don’t understand; is seeing a star more important than one’s life?" Qiao Xiaoyi shook his head, clearly unable to grasp such extreme thinking.
"The world is vast, full of wonders." Lin Tian remarked.
On the stage, staff began sound checks. At seven-twenty, the hall doors closed, leaving fans outside with no choice but to wait helplessly.
At seven-thirty, a host duo, male and female, took the stage and started announcing, "Respected leaders, guests, teachers, and students, good evening..."
After introductions, the leadership speeches followed, which was universally the dullest part of any event. The speech papers covered several pages, lasting over ten minutes before concluding.
The hosts, understanding the atmosphere was dull, announced enthusiastically, "Students, before the gala begins, I have exciting news to share. Tonight, we’ve invited our special guest, Miss Bitong..."
As soon as the host finished, there was a loud applause inside. Lin Tian even faintly heard the fans outside shouting Bitong’s name.
After a pause, the host continued, "To make the gala more interesting and engaging, we will have a voting system for tonight’s performances. Yes, Miss Bitong will compete live on stage with fellow students!"
