Zombie Bodyguard-Chapter 1559 - 1556: They Really Came
Lin Tian descended into the courtyard, sensing something, turned his head to see Ghost standing in the corridor saying farewell. Lin Tian pointed to the guest room, waved his hand, and then walked out of the West Courtyard.
Arriving at the entrance of Qinglan Garden, the sisters had not yet appeared, but he didn’t wait long before several women came out. Lin Tian was slightly surprised because besides the Xiao sisters, both Ling Zishan and Wang Wanxi came out to see him off as well.
It’s understandable for Wang Wanxi to see him off, as they were familiar with each other, but for Ling Zishan, the Pavilion Master of Langya Pavilion, to personally come to bid farewell, the significance was quite extraordinary.
"Lin Tian, leaving without a word? I was cheering for you just yesterday." Ling Shuiyao jumped out from behind, "angrily" scolding Lin Tian.
This little girl, though naughty, had a strong sense of justice. Lin Tian smiled slightly and said, "Thank you, Miss Shuiyao, for your encouragement. I owe you one. If you need help in the future, don’t hesitate to ask."
Those words were said in jest, of course, but should the young lady need help, lending a hand would be no problem. Yet, Ling Zishan stepped up, seriously asking, "Oh, Lin Tian, do you mean it?"
Lin Tian was momentarily taken aback but then affirmed, "Of course I mean it."
"I might really need your help someday," Ling Zishan smiled slightly, though there was something enigmatic in her smile.
Lin Tian didn’t think too much about it. He cupped his hands in salute and smiled, "Very well, until we meet again, Aunt Wang, goodbye."
Xiao Manxue found Lin Tian’s formal farewell quite amusing but restrained her laughter. She too came up to bid farewell to Ling Zishan and the others. A car was already parked outside. After the goodbyes, the three got into the car, naturally with Lin Tian driving.
He started the engine, fueled up, and the car slowly left Qinglan Garden, eventually merging into traffic and disappearing from sight.
More than two hours later, Lin Tian’s car had already left Tang City far behind. At this point, both sides of the road were desolate, barren lands — something of a no man’s land.
The sisters had been chatting quietly, but Xiao Manxue suddenly looked outside the car and said, "Lin Tian, did Luoxi ever warn you?"
"You mean those petty thieves?" Lin Tian’s eyes flickered as he responded.
"Exactly, the three of us carrying such treasures are easy targets for small-time thieves," Xiao Manxue said while glancing outside again.
"Treasures? Ha, that’s an apt description: the Heavenly Tribulation Sword, the Hua Ying Sword, and the Ice Soul, each a rare treasure capable of stirring up a storm," Lin Tian chuckled.
"Lin Tian, you forgot about the Shaoyang Pill we’re carrying. Elixirs are quite attractive as well," Xiao Manxuan reminded him.
With this reminder, Lin Tian realized they truly were "carrying treasures." Comparatively, the "luxury car" they were in seemed rather insignificant.
"Are you worried about petty thieves ambushing us halfway?" Lin Tian laughed.
"Isn’t that so? This place is neither inhabited nor deserted, an ideal spot for highway robbery. Thieves might already be waiting ahead of us," Xiao Manxuan gestured at the landscape outside, yet showed no fear on her face, rather a hint of excitement.
Indeed, regardless of Lin Tian’s prowess, Xiao Manxue was at the Postnatal Perfection level. With the Hua Ying Sword, she could match an Innate Expert. Not to mention, the protective spirit, Little Zi, in Xiao Manxuan’s necklace was immensely powerful.
Lin Tian shook his head and said, "No, those petty thieves might be unsure of our exact power but must have basic info. Coming to die knowingly would be insane. I reckon that if they plan to act, it won’t be in this sparsely populated area but rather in a crowded town."
"Why?" Xiao Manxuan asked, puzzled.
"Lack of strength naturally calls for other means, such as poisoning the food, or using knockout gas, anything stealthy," Lin Tian smiled faintly.
Xiao Manxuan blinked, full of confusion, "With so many despicable methods, what kind of thieves are you talking about?"
"Probably ninjas," Lin Tian shrugged casually, "Miss, check the GPS map, how far to the next town?"
"The next town is Napo County, sixty-nine kilometers away," Xiao Manxue tapped a few times on the phone and quickly reported.
"Sixty-nine kilometers, perfect. We can still make it for lunch by the time we reach the county." Lin Tian’s lips curved into a smile as he pressed the gas pedal harder, heading towards Napo County.
At precisely noon, Lin Tian and the others were already seated in a private room of a hotel in Napo County. Although the hotel was labeled as an international hotel, its environment was far inferior to Xiao Family’s Tianfu Restaurant.
No matter, the three were not overly picky. Eyeing the specialty dishes on the table, Xiao Manxue softly asked, "Lin Tian, is there anything wrong with these dishes?"
"Don’t worry, the dishes are fine. Those ninjas aren’t ordinary people; they wouldn’t use such a low-end tactic as poisoning the food," Lin Tian reassured them with a confident gaze.
As he spoke, Lin Tian extended his perspective across the entire floor of private rooms, with all their conditions under his surveillance.
"They really came..." A cold glint flashed in Lin Tian’s eyes.
"The petty thieves are here? Where?" Xiao Manxue furrowed her brows, scanning outside the window and at the door vigilantly.
Lin Tian pointed at the wall, his eyebrows raising slightly, "Next door."
In the adjacent private room sat five men in business suits, appearing as merchants, but their conversation wasn’t about business. Most notably, they spoke in Japanese.
After his last trip to Japan, to know the enemy as well as oneself, Lin Tian had studied Japanese. Though not proficient, he could understand what they said.
"Mr. Du Bian, the captain wants us to probe them, and if the opportunity is ripe, take their treasures. However, Lin Tian is quite cunning, and if we poison their drinks, he might notice," a long-faced man said to a man with a mustache.
"Rest assured, before we left, the captain gave me this," the mustachioed man known as Mr. Du Bian took out a black glass bottle from his pocket. "This potion is colorless and tasteless, and non-toxic, but when mixed with another potion, can temporarily disable an Ancient Martial Artist’s power. It’s ineffective on ordinary people, but has amazing effects on Ancient Martial Artists."
"I’ve already mixed the other potion into their food; it’s non-toxic and tasteless, impossible to detect. In a bit, inject this potion into their air conditioning duct. Once the potion evaporates, the air conditioning flow will carry it into their room. When they inhale the vapor, it will mix with the first potion and activate the poison."
"The merged poison is extremely potent, enough to disable them for half an hour, more than enough time for us to do anything we want," Mr. Du Bian sneered.
"Once they’re poisoned, we’ll sever their hand and foot tendons. By the time the poison wears off, they won’t be a match for us, and will be at our mercy. Those two beauties, let us brothers have some fun first..." The five men laughed lewdly.
