Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower-Chapter 35: Help
Chapter 35: Chapter 35: Help
Silas’s expression darkened, his fingers tapping silently on the table in thought.
"And these zombie snakes... You said they’re not found near the suburbs. So why would one be there now?"
Ivy shook her head, frustration flickering in her eyes.
"That’s what doesn’t make sense. They shouldn’t be there. And if one did appear, Stephen wouldn’t go down without a fight. He wouldn’t."
Her last two sentences were no more than a whisper, and Silas couldn’t hear them.
Just then, Silas’s phone rang. Only when Ivy nodded did Silas take the call.
"Hello? Yes, uncle.... she is saying that we might encounter a zombie snake. Hm... I am coming."
With that, he stood up and hung up the call. Seeing him leaving, Ivy stood up too.
"I will go with you."
The words of rejection were at the tip of Silas’s tongue when Ivy stared at him with a stern expression, and he swallowed them back.
"Alright."
Ivy heaved a sigh of relief. Suddenly, she thought about the rice packets in her space and multiplied the white rice packet of 300g.
Then she took out the packet and gave it to Silas who was a bit taken aback.
"This..." He opened his mouth, but Ivy interrupted him, "Because of me, you have lost a lot of supplies. This is just a small interest."
"No." Silas declined, however, Ivy continued to stare at him. Eventually, he succumbed and took the rice packet. "I will keep it with me for the time being. Whenever you need food, just ask, and I will hand it back to you with interest."
Ivy shook her head firmly, "This is for you. I have a lot of food with me. You don’t need to worry."
Just then, the Temporal Storage’s notification sounded.
[You have earned 1 kb! Current balance: 18.7]
She had multiplied the bento box and even multiplied the rice packet, which required 2 kb. Her original balance was 19.7. So the calculations were correct.
Ivy was a bit excited. So earning KB was that easy? As long as she gave food to others, she could earn Kb?
Good!
........
Ivy and Silas set out for the mission. Since it takes a lot of time to reach a place if the number is great, Stephen and his team had long ago left.
It was only Ivy and Silas in the car. Ivy’s eyes were attracted to the streets, which were cold and empty.
All the traffic jams and panic were long ago over. Now, almost no one leaves their houses. The government had ordered a strict quarantine.
And the masses were following the order. If they hadn’t, they would see the horrific scene Ivy was seeing currently.
Zombies roamed around the streets, their contorted hands and feet, as well as their hollow eyes, were unbearable to see.
To think that they were once someone’s beloved and now they were destined to live in agony of not being a human or undead...what a cruel fate.
Ivy’s heart tightened, remembering how her real sister had become a half zombie for her...
’Where are they now?’ She thought.
In her past life, when she met them, they sacrificed her second brother just to rescue her.
Taking a deep breath, she turned toward Silas and said,
"Can you help me? I will give you 5000kg of rice."
Silas’s heart ached hearing the raw pain in Ivy’s voice.
’Why is she sad? Did she think of unpleasant things? What kind of help? Is it to kill Ravencroft family members? I will do it anyway if I get a chance.’
Thinking about the abuse Ivy had to go through in that house, Silas’s face turned grim, and rage coursed in his veins.
Just at that moment, one of the street lamps suddenly exploded.
But the sound of the bulb blowing up got suppressed by the roars of zombies. Neither Silas nor Ivy noticed it.
"What is it? No need to pay, you have already paid me with the rice bag. And don’t be sad, I will try my best to help you." Silas’s calm voice soothed the pain in Ivy’s heart.
It was a magical experience, Ivy never understood.
Maybe she knew Silas meant every word he said to her.
"Find Nightbane family. They used to be researchers. I don’t know their specific location, but I know their name. Helena and Victor Nightbane. They have two sons and one daughter." Ivy’s expression softened when she talked about her real family.
"Okay. I will find them for you." Silas agreed. His heart was filled with warmth. He was thrilled that Ivy had started to trust him.
Earlier, even when she was struggling, she never complained to him. But now...
She not only told a secret about her powers but also entrusted him with a task.
What does it show? It shows... that their bond has finally improved!
By the time Ivy and Silas reached the location, the soldiers had already started the mission.
Instead of a disorganized scene, a barricade was formed at the entrance. On the left and right sides, too, there was a barricade wall to protect the main force from any kind of danger that might appear suddenly.
The main force used the M240 machine gun with a newly developed sound suppressor as they cleared the path.
70% of the team was focused on clearing the zombies while the other 30% entered each of the houses by either knocking lightly or using open gates.
Ivy watched in silence and knew that the mission would be hit. If it won’t, then how come Frank, who later continued the mission, only needed 20 minutes to complete the mission?
99% of the work was done by Stephen, while Frank who did only 1% work, became the general who completed missions even Stephen couldn’t finish.
Ivy hated Frank. After all, it was because of that b*stard, none of the base who pitied her ever helped her.
It was also Frank who had let Ivy’s tormentor go unpunished.
