Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 450: The Mysterious Man in White
Vincent was so eager to ascend the mountain, which caught Jacob Jennings by surprise: "Young Master Vance, up the mountain now? But we don’t have a specific direction yet, and besides, this Mr. Drake may not even know the precise location of Mount Caelus.
"It’s okay if he doesn’t know. This time we’re using high-tech!" Vincent waved his hand, signaling Jacob not to say more: "I’ve prepared everything we need, you’ll know when you see it."
Seeing Vincent looking so confident, Jacob hesitated a little and clenched his fingers: "Then what do you want me to show this painting to Mr. Drake for?"
Vincent gave Jacob a meaningful look and said with a faint smile, "To test."
Test? Test how?
Jacob couldn’t fathom Vincent’s mind and stopped pondering. He glanced at Vincent and noticed that he showed no discomfort after drinking the herbal concoction. Then he tentatively asked him: "Young Master Vance, should May Morgan take this herbal medicine as well?"
Vincent looked at May and was about to stand up, forcing himself to stay spirited, but suddenly felt dizzy and almost fell.
"Young Master Vance, are you okay?" Jacob was so frightened that he quickly held Vincent up and helped him back to sitting in the chair.
Vincent recovered slightly and then said to Jacob, "I’m fine. It might be because of exhaustion. You can give this medicine to May; I think it should be fine."
"Alright, I’ll give May the medicine now."
Worried that Vincent might be uncomfortable sitting, Jacob helped him lie down on the nearby bed. Once Vincent was settled, he turned to get the bowl of medicine and came over to the wooden tub.
In the wooden tub, May was only wearing her underwear. Although the water covered her chest, much of her skin was still exposed.
The dark brown liquid contrasted with May’s fair and clean collarbone, making her look even more delicate and charming.
In front of Vincent, Jacob didn’t dare look too much. He could only turn his face away and, feeling his way, gently helped May sit up straight in the tub, then carefully supported her shoulder and poured the bowl of bitter medicine into her mouth.
Vincent sat silently on the bed beside them, watching everything.
Once the bowl of medicine was finally poured into May’s mouth, Jacob breathed a sigh of relief and turned to put the bowl back on the table.
"Young Master Vance, it’s done!" Jacob didn’t dare look much at May in the tub, so he quickly returned to Vincent’s side by the bed after finishing.
Vincent looked seriously at Jacob and suddenly began to speak slowly: "Jacob, our journey to Mount Caelus is filled with dangers, and I have a request. I hope you can fulfill it for me!" 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
Seeing Vincent’s serious expression, Jacob couldn’t help but reply, "Young Master Vance, there’s no need for such formality. Just tell me what you need."
"If one day both May and I face danger, I hope the one you save is her, not me."
Upon hearing this, Jacob’s face turned fierce, reluctantly responding to Vincent, "Young Master Vance, I swore to serve you for a lifetime, but I didn’t for May. I have no obligation to risk my life for her."
"You do. No matter what attitude you had towards May in the past, here, if you’re willing to give your life to me, then save her first!"
Vincent took a deep breath and instructed Jacob word by word: "You owe me a life, so you choose to follow with loyalty. But as for me, I not only owe her a life but also a better future. If it wasn’t for me, she wouldn’t be in this state now. So, if I die, then fulfill the mission you didn’t complete for me on her, until death."
Jacob, feeling torn, clenched his fist, unsure how to argue back against Vincent’s words. After a while, he slowly nodded: "Alright, I promise you."
Seeing Jacob nod, Vincent finally smiled with satisfaction and then instructed him, "You can leave first. There are still more than two hours until daylight, so go and rest for a while."
"Alright..."
Jacob looked up at Vincent, his expression heavy, and backed out.
After Jacob left, Vincent also felt overwhelming fatigue. He initially planned to get up and check on May, but suddenly felt particularly weak and soon fell into a deep sleep.
In a daze, he seemed to feel someone push the door and enter. After coming in, the person walked straight to May’s wooden tub.
He couldn’t clearly see the person’s face, but had a very bad feeling. He wanted to get up and stop the person from approaching May, but his body wouldn’t cooperate. He attempted to call for Jacob outside, but found himself like in a nightmare, lacking the strength to speak.
The man didn’t seem like Mr. Drake, as he was taller and wore all white, exuding a sacred aura despite his face being unclear.
Who is this person? Why are they suddenly here? Is it an illusion, or has a stranger truly intruded?
The man stopped at May’s wooden tub, bent down, picked up May, who was soaking in the tub, and turned to leave.
Stop!
Vincent watched angrily as the man left the bedroom carrying May, wanting to shout to make him stop. He struggled for a long time, but truly had no strength at all.
Not only was his body devoid of strength, but his consciousness also gradually blurred until he completely lost awareness.
When Vincent awoke again, daylight filled the room. He felt as if he had experienced a nightmare, waking suddenly, and his first instinct was to check the wooden tub where May lay.
May was still peacefully asleep in the specially crafted wooden tub, not taken away.
Vincent stared blankly at May in the tub for a long time before regaining his senses.
He hurriedly reached out to touch May’s face and neck before holding her hand, placing it in his palm to carefully cherish.
She was indeed here, truly existing in front of him. So, was last night’s man just a dream?
But then why was the dream so real, real to the point of being terrifying?
Just as he hesitated, the bedroom door suddenly creaked open, and Vincent turned back surprised, seeing the white-haired Mr. Drake entering with a wooden tray.
On the tray were some congee he made, along with a few small dishes, looking light and appetizing.
"Young Master Vance, would you like to have something to eat? There’s not much, just some congee and pickled vegetables, but please make do with it?"
Mr. Drake politely placed the congee and small dishes on the nearby table, motioning for Vincent to go over and eat.
Vincent glanced at the congee and dishes brought in by Mr. Drake, exchanged a few ceremonious words, and then sat over.
"Mr. Drake, have you always lived alone in these deep mountains?" Vincent asked, making deliberate small talk with Mr. Drake as he ate the congee.
