Chapter 469: Mu Wanxuan's Meticulous Care

Wang Sheng's Nascent Soul had shattered, and his Primordial Spirit was born. Holding a lightning sword, it leaped into the sky.

The onlookers were stunned beyond words. They could only watch as Wang Sheng's phantasm swept across the air, cutting and striking everything in its way. Not one opponent managed to slow it.

Before they realized it, the gray figures had already been destroyed, and the vertical eye had disappeared. Lightning filled the sky, the tribulation cloud vanished, and thick primal qi drifted everywhere.

Wang Sheng's Primordial Spirit stood where the eye had been, its lightning sword raised across its body. Streams of primal qi gathered and spiraled around it, causing its colors to darken slightly.

Right after, the Primordial Spirit flashed and fell like a shooting star into the charred body below. Having lost its anchor, the dense primal qi burst apart in the air. Wang Sheng's chest heaved as he coughed violently, black smoke leaking from his mouth.

His Primordial Spirit was complete and unharmed, but his Dao Body had been nearly destroyed. Bearing the severe pain, he lifted Spiritless and examined it carefully.

Fine cracks now ran along its translucent blade. Yaoyun's presence remained, but it was so faint that Wang Sheng couldn't pick up on her condition. All he could sense was the sword's strong spirituality.

"Yaoyun, I've crossed it."

"Mm..."

Hearing her answer made Wang Sheng relax slightly. His raised hand fell weakly, and he lay down, gasping for breath.

"Thank you."

Yaoyun didn't reply. She had likely slipped into deep sleep.

Outside the celestial gate, Xi Lian nudged the still-stunned Mu Wanxuan. "What are you still standing here for? Go already!"

Finally, Mu Wanxuan realized that the tribulation had passed. She shot forward and turned into a ray of light, reaching Wang Sheng in an instant.

Seeing her scorched junior brother, Mu Wanxuan's eyes filled with tears. Her hands trembled as she steadied herself. She placed her left hand on the only unburned area around his chest, reversed yin and yang, and infused him with strands of pure primal qi.

For Wang Sheng's Dao Body, this primal qi was like rain after a long drought.

He groaned lowly in pain, then opened his eyes and looked at his senior sister. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed more than a dozen people approaching in the distance. Silently, he grabbed the hem of Mu Wanxuan's robe and pulled it to cover himself.

Mu Wanxuan blinked, glanced down, and then adjusted her kneeling posture to sit closer to him. She formed a white mist with primal qi, gently covering his waist and hips.

Xi Lian laughed beside them. "Tsk! As if anyone here hasn't seen one before!"

Wang Sheng had no strength to react, while Mu Wanxuan's cheeks flushed red.

Jingyun pulled out an acupuncture pouch, knelt beside Wang Sheng, and attempted to examine his injuries to see whether she could help. However, she ended up feeling embarrassed instead. Wang Sheng's Dao Body was still tense from resisting the heavenly tribulation. Her cultivation and spiritual perception were too weak to penetrate it.

The Celestial Master and the others just stood ten meters away, choosing not to step closer. They simply smiled, praised, and congratulated him nonstop.

"Congratulations on crossing the heavenly tribulation, Fei Yu. The immortal path now lies open to you!"

"Congratulations, congratulations!"

"How did you trigger a second heavenly tribulation, Fei Yu? This phenomenon has likely never been seen or heard of in the history of the cultivation world. More importantly, it was overwhelmingly powerful, yet you managed to overcome it steadily. I'm honestly at a loss for words."

"Even though you're not an immortal yet, you have already survived the tribulation of one. I can't even begin to imagine what else you'll be able to achieve in the future."

Wang Sheng managed a faint smile. Exhaustion then washed over him. Though his Dao Body still hadn't relaxed, his Primordial Spirit was already weary and falling asleep. Leaving his body had placed a heavy burden on it, especially since he had just broken through when he had done it.

Still holding Spiritless, Wang Sheng soon fell unconscious. Mu Wanxuan looked helplessly at Xi Lian, who now displayed a calm bearing befitting one close to ascension.

"Use your enchanted power and bring Little Fei Yu to one of the immortal palaces meant for seclusion," Xi Lian instructed.

"Mm," Mu Wanxuan answered softly.

She gently wrapped Wang Sheng in yin-yang qi, lifting him horizontally into the air. Xi Lian and Jingyun guarded her flanks as they flew toward the celestial gate. The Daoist masters and elders followed them into the Small Immortal Realm.

Flying Haze was left behind, flung aside into the mist by the lightning tribulation. It lay silently, pondering why its fate was so different from that of Spiritless.

They entered the nearest immortal palace that was tailored for seclusion. The palace itself responded to their presence, releasing pure primal qi that wrapped around Wang Sheng and Spiritless.

Mu Wanxuan breathed a small sigh of relief. She knelt beside her junior brother, quietly watching him.

Now that Wang Sheng was safe and only required rest to stabilize his breakthrough to the Grand Immortal-Ascension Realm, the Daoist masters dispersed to continue cultivating, using this event as motivation. Their tribulations likely wouldn't be as frightening as Wang Sheng's. With enough preparation, they could be confident that they'd succeed.

Only Huai Jing remained silent. After the others left, he finally sighed faintly and intoned Buddha's name.

"Even though he's yet to ascend, heavenly might has already descended to warn him. I can't help but feel some envy and resentment."

"Heavenly might?" Xi Lian blinked. "So the pair of eyes earlier was heavenly might? All I knew was that it was terrifying. I almost immediately reverted to my true form."

Huai Jing raised a finger nervously. "Shhh. Do not speak of it. Do not discuss it. Do not question it."

Xi Lian rolled her eyes, but she did not dare speak further.

The nineteen individuals were considered quite fortunate. They had felt and witnessed heavenly might from a safe distance. This experience would leave a lasting influence on the future of their cultivation.

Mu Wanxuan didn't listen to what the others were talking about. She only watched Wang Sheng quietly. Even in deep sleep, he remained tense, filling her eyes with distress.

At that moment, Jingyun floated into the palace with a basin of clear water. She took out a handkerchief and placed the silver basin beside Mu Wanxuan.

"Bu Yu, wipe Fei Yu's body and help him relax. He's so tense that primal qi can't enter his body."

Mu Wanxuan responded softly. Just as she was about to begin, she looked up at Xi Lian and Huai Jing.

"Amitabha. I'll go cultivate."

"I will go wander outside for a bit. Call me if you need me."

Xi Lian and Huai Jing drifted away. Jingyun gently gave Mu Wanxuan another reminder before leaving the great palace.

Mu Wanxuan dipped the handkerchief into the water and carefully wiped away the charred layer on Wang Sheng. She then gently massaged different tightly clenched parts of his Dao Body.

Only Mu Wanxuan could do this task since her aura was engraved deep within Wang Sheng's bones. If someone else touched him, his Dao Body would likely defend itself instinctively.

Wang Sheng soon regained his normal skin tone on his front side. Most of the tension in his Dao Body disappeared as well, allowing him to absorb primal qi normally.

Mu Wanxuan breathed in quietly, as though she had reached a decision. She dispersed the white mist covering her junior brother's waist and hips and continued her gentle, careful cleaning.

Unfortunately, Wang Sheng was still completely unconscious.

***

Wang Sheng remained in a coma for half a month, during which his Dao Body underwent several changes.

A cultivator's Nascent Soul normally only started transforming into a Primordial Spirit once they had overcome their heavenly tribulation. However, something went wrong with Wang Sheng's tribulation, nearly making him face certain death and forcing him to take a desperate gamble.

At a critical moment, he had summoned his own heavenly tribulation and shattered his Nascent Soul, forcing it to turn into a Primordial Spirit. It deprived his Dao Body of the chance to transform alongside his Nascent Soul.

Fortunately, when Wang Sheng's Primordial Spirit returned to his body, his Dao Body naturally started making up for the missed process. His Primordial Spirit guided it as it slowly turned into an Immortal Body.

Although he cultivated in the Dao of the Primordial Spirit, he still valued his Dao Body greatly since he was a sword cultivator. Even while he was unconscious, his subconscious used the power of his Primordial Spirit to strengthen his Dao Body, ultimately making him shed three times.

The first shedding occurred after Mu Wanxuan had painstakingly cleaned and helped him relax. Like a clay figure shattering, his previously charred skin cracked and crumbled, almost startling Mu Wanxuan into a stiff, speechless expression.

The second shedding happened on the third day of his coma. Radiance pulsed from within him, and enchanted power surged, removing another thin outer layer. Impurities were also expelled, and Wang Sheng's skin, originally somewhat dark due to long-term sword training, became a bit fairer.

On the seventh day, he shed for the third time. His outermost skin formed a thin, seven-colored, cocoon-like membrane. The immortal palace drew vast amounts of primal qi to it, all of which it accepted and absorbed.

Within Wang Sheng, the Pure Yang Immortal Mantra broke through on its own. His cultivation realm advanced one minor realm per day, even after he had reached the Grand Immortal-Ascension Realm. It just kept going until he was only one step away from the middle stage.

The cocoon was of great significance. After all, it was a blessing he had gained by surviving a great calamity, and it was tied to the thousand years of cultivation he had done in the Dream Realm.

Every change that Wang Sheng had undergone while he was unconscious was seamless and natural. None caused heart devil issues, harmed his Dao Heart, or felt rushed.

Cultivators couldn't possibly achieve such feats deliberately. Nevertheless, Mu Wanxuan's expression still gradually darkened. She witnessed and counted her junior brother's realm rise from early-stage Rebirth Realm to early-stage Grand Immortal-Ascension Realm while he slept. In silent protest, she raised her small fist and shook it several times, but she couldn't bear to actually hit him.

The seclusion palace they were in could almost be renamed the "shut-in palace."

When the celestial cocoon dissolved and the thin membrane melted away, Wang Sheng began to regain consciousness, allowing him to sense how much his realm had advanced. It left him rather puzzled.

Opening his eyes and finding his senior sister meditating beside him, he couldn't help but ask, "Senior Sister, how long was I unconscious?"

Mu Wanxuan opened her eyes. With a bright expression, she answered, "Half month."

Wang Sheng was stunned. "Only half a month..."

He glanced at Spiritless, which rested beside him. The fine cracks on its blade were now extremely faint, while the spirituality it emitted had become much stronger.

"Clothes," Mu Wanxuan calmly reminded.

Wang Sheng finally noticed that only a gown was covering him. His face flushed as he turned away to dress.

Mu Wanxuan blinked, tilted her head, and stared for a moment before realizing that looking straight at her junior brother like this was improper. Since they weren't really married yet, traditional propriety should still be respected. Hence, she raised a hand to cover her eyes.

Her slender fingers parted just slightly, creating a thin gap for her to peek through.
