Chapter 1056: Not for my benefit [1/2]

I looked at Bella and said, "Honey, I want to talk to the prince who leads the reformists next."

Bella answered with a beautiful smile, one that would melt the bones of any man, "I figured you would, my lord. We have already prepared your route. You may go to the Gate of Irkalla Unit Three if you want to proceed immediately."

I walked over and grabbed her by the waist. I then savored her lips. Perhaps driven wild by my actions, Bella pulled me closer and practically devoured me. Our passionate exchange took a few seconds before we reluctantly parted.

’How naughty, Mr. Code. You used me to show off just now, didn’t you?’ my Brazilian bombshell teased.

’Could you blame me? Just look at how sexy you are.’

Feeling we were both being silly, Bella and I broke out in laughter. It was during times like these that I loved spending time with my girls. We just clicked. We could be fighting, fucking, or just cuddling, and I fell for my girls all the more.

"Possum, pash with me too!" "Anata, I also wish for your affection."

Of course, within seconds, the other Sirens present grew annoyed. Two of them threw themselves at me. Robyn and Aki lunged and clung to me with both arms and legs. Liv, Jas, and Lilly were more reserved but fidgeted restlessly.

Jo was the only one a bit farther away. My Italian was working, but I could hear her displeasure in her voice. This was even before I felt the irritation from her link.

"As of this moment, all of you will follow the 2nd Enthralled unit, okay? Give your all for Darling’s honor. Use your lives and execute soul breakers to complete your objectives. I want every facility destroyed! Kapeesh? I will beat you all dead if you fail!"

Naturally, after Jo’s ridiculous orders. She used {blink} to teleport to my location. Even while chaos loomed over the continent, I took a moment to reward my girls. In the lull, the other parties around me mingled.

Of course, as Reapers who had the {Listen} family, the girls and I could hear everything. Despite the large space, their voices were so clear, they might as well have been talking into my ear.

___

"Ayo, wolves, take ten and get ready to roll with Patron for the next snatch."

"Fr, Yvonne? You sure we’re going? The Sirens finished up their thing, right? They ain’t gonna be the ones pulling up?"

"Just chill and prep, Claire. The Vithriss are flexing, but we gotta remind them who’s top tier."

"Lmao, why even bother with Junie’s crew? Plus, did you peep that message from Cynthia? They said ’It’s’ ready!"

"Bet! For real? It worked? Let’s hit up Patron! We can try it on the next demon we catch!"

"Man, finally finna get some sleep!"

"Yeah, for real. Everybody put in work, no doubt."

___

The wolves were, for one, doing their own thing. Although it seems that they have something ready for me. Of course, I could just ask Exa, but that would take away the surprise. So I will just wait. We should find demonkin soon anyway.

Meanwhile, the three non-Siren Specters naturally gravitated toward each other. It was a common occurrence that people mingled with those like them.

___

"Carlos."

"Yeah? What is it, Herman?"

"Isn’t that Kaziema Lulendo? The Magma Knight? The one who leads the Conservative faction? One of the top princes of Africa?"

"Yep. Same one."

"Why the fuck is he here? Won’t that expose our entire operation to the Africans? I thought the plan was to butcher his family and blame it on the Reformists?"

"Probably, because the lord changed his mind. Maybe it concerns a Siren. Ah, there’s Mrs. Baker, let’s just ask her," Carlos then called my Specter escort over and inquired directly.

"Miss Eva, why is the Magma Knight here? Parts of the stream we could see were muted. We only saw the maid explode. Did he strike a deal or something?"

"I dunno, I didn’t pay attention. Probably because the boy wussed out. I don’t do well with slimy two-faced bastards, so I don’t know."

"You seem angry. Are you all right?" Herman asked in concern.

"What’s up with you fuckers? I AM FINE! I just need to beat someone up! One of you spar with me; I don’t care who!"

"..." x2

___

Understandably, Carlos and Herman made excuses and left Eva to her own devices. When the one looking for a punching bag was someone who had the alias Coroner, it was not wise to antagonize her.

The Seraphs, on the other hand, were forming tactics around the new soul tech they were fielding. Along with some real talk about our immediate future.

___

"You boys got the hang of the new gear yet? The soultech, right? It’s amazing. If I didn’t know you guys were there, I wouldn’t even notice you," Mike Walker remarked.

"Right? The stuff Ami comes up with is amazing! Tristan, can we ask Ami for soultech too? Like the engines attached to the airplanes we watched the other night? If we give them to the Wyvern air wing, we could save energy from flying!"

"I will check with Lady Jas, Isolde. It takes a bit of practice, but with Exa’s help, they fly really stably. Kind feels like I am on solid ground. Cynthia and Addi will go crazy with ideas from seeing how we perform," Joshua added in excitement.

"You don’t even know the half of it, Nigga. Boo said the other Sirens already asked the squads for soultech proposals. Add that to all the new stuff and recruits we finally get, and it’s gonna be crazy. By next month, Hellsend’s gonna be on a different beast."

"Damn straight... While we’re at it, do any of you tell your families about us? You know, us being undead bastards who kill zombies in hell? My folks are conservatives; don’t know how they would react to the whole Reaper thing," Mike confessed anxiously.

"I hear you, Boo’s got the same problem. Don’t have anything for you, nigga. Lucked out that my ma is more open. I already gave her name to Lucrecia. She’s on her way to becoming a Reaper. What about on your side, Joshua?"

"Angela and I no longer have any living relatives. Hers are gone, while mine no longer speak to me. I am sorry; I cannot help Mike. It is truly a hard topic to bring up. But I think having them join us as soon as possible is necessary," the Asian suggested.

"Yeah, anyone who saw the videos of the vampire invasion would say the same thing. If that huge-ass army made it to Earth, who knows how many would have died. We are far too weak. If we fought in that, we would have just died pathetically."

As Mike felt disheartened, his {kindred} slipped her fingers into his in a lover’s hold.

"Don’t fret, Tristan, we are still alive. We will get stronger. To borrow Ami’s words, we will end this nightmare in our generation. For our future. And I will be beside you every step of the way."

"Thanks, Sugar. I love you," Mike confessed, along with a kiss.

"Ugh, nigga, get a room. You all copying the boss nigga too much."

"Like you are one to talk, Warren. You and Clarie are the same. Besides, Isolde’s right. Compared to what we were before we joined the lord. We have come a long way. I don’t even have to shift to a horse anymore."

___

At Joshua’s self-deprecating joke, the rest of the Seraphs laughed. While there were still many things to worry about, it was true that everyone had gotten stronger. And so long as we were alive, we could continue to do so.

While the other groups relaxed, in another corner, the Awakened were having a serious discussion. And it brought up a concern I didn’t even know they had. One, I probably need to address in the near future.

"Sister Juno, did you see how the wolves moved? Despite being smaller than us, they move way faster; why is that? They also act like they have a thousand eyes!"

"It is because they are part of a Siren squad. We only have the blessing of Limitless. They have an additional blessing from Lady Jo. Every Siren squad has a second blessing coming from the Siren they follow," Juno answered.

A Vithriss touched her chin, deep in thought. "Hmm, we should join another Siren squad," she said. "Is this the same reason why the tiny humans could fight Husband to a standstill?"

"Grrr... Hellcats, I hate them. I can’t even hit them anymore; they move too fast. They’re small, but they hit harder than even Limitless. Juno, how can I join a Siren squad? Limitless blessing is trash compared to the Sirens!" Roach complained.

"Look Roach, stop being an ingrate. Although, compared to the other Sirens’ squads, we are quite underpowered. But do not lose heart; we are Awakened, we can make do!"

___

I ignored the words of the ungrateful giant toad. It seemed that the Siren’s squad {Programs} quickly outclassed my own {Kismet}. I should be happy, but it gave me a complicated feeling.

Not even two weeks since I gave everyone the upgrade, people were already complaining.

’Though, the results speak for themselves.’

It was surprising to know that Pixie and Alicia, once weak reapers, were now able to face a monster like Roach.

’I may need to create a follow-up for my own personal squad, but who would I even give it to? Or would creating a Reborn {Kismet} be better? Maybe a way I can give them {Fast Forward}. It would be a good direction to grow in.’
