Witty Wife, Better Life-Chapter 799 - 789: Are They Getting Divorced or Not?
Chapter 799: Chapter 789: Are They Getting Divorced or Not?
Because of the word "divorce", Li Hongjun got fiercely intense as if filled with vengeance. He tormented her all night long, repeatedly asking her if she still wanted a divorce or not.
At first, Shen Yunfang took this as a bit of playful fun. A couple leading a proper life needed to inject some surprises now and then to keep the marriage fresh, right? But after several rounds, even Shen Yunfang was worn out.
"Are you sick or something? Tell me, are you sick? I already said I was just playing around. Even if you wanted a divorce, I couldn’t just go along with it. Why are you still going on about this? I say I won’t divorce and you won’t let me, so what the hell?" Shen Yunfang couldn’t take it anymore and grabbed Li Hongjun’s hair with both hands, yanking hard.
Li Hongjun didn’t speak, just fixed her beneath him with eyes red with intensity, "Tell me, will you ever mention divorce again?"
"I won’t, I won’t, haven’t I already told you? I was just teasing you." Shen Yunfang was speechless. She was the one who should be crying, yet the one throwing a tantrum was getting teary.
"Even as a joke, you can’t say it. We have to stay together for life, no matter what happens, you can never use that word again." Li Hongjun was incredibly stubborn.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever you say goes, I’ll listen to you, okay?" Shen Yunfang thought, just pacify this man quickly.
.........
The next morning, the two grown-ups woke up with flushed faces, trapped in bed by Pangpang and Manman. Li Hongjun, this guy, unprecedentedly didn’t get up at the first sound of reveille—it seemed last night’s desperate energy was forcibly maintained.
Li Hongjun’s face was naturally dark, so the redness didn’t show. Faced with his curious children’s eyes, he coughed and chased the kids away with a stern air.
"Why are you crowding here? Don’t you have school today? Hurry and wash up, or you’ll be late for school."
"Dad, you must be confused, it’s Sunday today. We don’t have to go to school." Manman, completely outspoken, didn’t hesitate to trample over her dad’s heart.
"Cough, cough..." Even Shen Yunfang, hidden in the blankets, couldn’t help but laugh at that.
Li Hongjun gave her a fierce look, signaling her not to stir things up. Shen Yunfang shrugged and burrowed deeper into the blankets, leaving him to figure out how to send the kids away.
"Cough, I forgot about that. Alright, we’re not going to school today. Let’s all four go into the city to watch a movie. We won’t have breakfast at home either; we’ll go eat out in the city." Li Hongjun was quick-witted indeed. He instantly came up with an excuse to send the kids out and even planned today’s activity on the fly.
As soon as the kids heard about going to the city to eat and watch a movie, they jumped for joy and hurried to wash up and brush their teeth.
Li Hongjun, the moment the kids ran out, followed to close and lock the bedroom door. He then fetched a pair of his large underpants from the wardrobe and began to dress.
He was truly scared that Pangpang and Manman would barge into their blanket, and if the kids saw their father parading around naked at his age, he’d lose face completely.
Shen Yunfang relaxed upon seeing the door locked. Watching Li Hongjun cover himself up, she then asked, "What made you think of going to the movies today?" He wasn’t the romantic type. From the time they met until they got married, they’d never done things like going to movies or strolling down the streets.
"What’s there to think about? If I want to go, we’ll go. Besides, that’s the only way your daughter and son would leave willingly." Li Hongjun spoke with a mix of annoyance and embarrassment. Could he admit that he’d felt insecure since his wife mentioned divorce the previous day? Thinking about those young soldiers bragging about taking their dates to movies and restaurants, he suddenly realized he and his wife had never really done any of those ’romantic’ things. Suddenly, he felt like he owed it to her.
"Right, right, right, sure, sure, sure, you’re the boss, whatever you say," Shen Yunfang responded, playing along as if he were the one in charge.
Li Hongjun’s face reddened again, but luckily his dark complexion hid it well. He turned back to the wardrobe and took out a set of underwear for his wife, "Here, wife, you worked hard yesterday. Let me help you get dressed."
When Shen Yunfang saw he was serious, she let out a shriek and snatched the underwear from his hands, then quickly began to dress herself out of fear that he might lose control again, and the kids would come knocking. freewebnoveℓ.com
Li Hongjun was somewhat speechless. He now truly understood his wife’s coldness towards him. It seemed in order to maintain domestic peace and unity, he had to learn the ways of today’s youth. It was essential to keep his wife securely attached to him.
Their children, hearing their mother’s screams, rushed to their parents’ door, pushing to find it locked from the inside.
"Dad, mom, what’s wrong? Hurry up, open the door. Let Manman in." Manman’s anxious voice beat against the door panel.
"Stop knocking. Your mother is fine; she just saw a cockroach, and I killed it," Li Hongjun called out, displaying a soldier’s swiftness as he quickly dressed and saw his wife had put on her undergarments, then he opened the bedroom door.
Pangpang and Manman charged in and reassured themselves that their mom was alright. Still, the two children kept asking questions around her.
"Mom’s really okay. It was just a roach, and your dad has taken care of it," said Shen Yunfang, glancing at Li Hongjun—he was quite the roach.
"Alright, alright, let’s not crowd here. Hurry up and finish washing, so we can leave on time. Otherwise, it’ll be noon by the time we get to the city, and we’ll miss the movie," Li Hongjun hurriedly ushered the two little tails out again.
By the time the family of four was ready to leave the house, it was already 8:30 in the morning, and they wobbled into the city for a late breakfast at a restaurant.
Never having dined at a public cafeteria, the children always thought it tasted better than the homemade dishes. Pangpang and Manman were exactly those kinds of unruly kids, relishing their meal to the point of yelling out in delight.
Shen Yunfang was annoyed, complaining to Li Hongjun, "From now on, I’m not cooking for these two ungrateful kids anymore. Let them eat at the cafeteria every day."
