Chapter 786: Chapter 776: A Short Parting Is Better Than a New Marriage

Li Hongjun’s complexion had improved a bit, but he still felt that Shen Yingxue must be severely punished. It seemed that being lenient last time was a mistake, but since those files were still in his possession, it wasn’t too late to use them now. Thinking about it, being indulgent with her was irresponsible to society and to all humanity. Since this woman was courting death, he would give her the opportunity to show off.

"Oh, where have you crawled out from? You didn’t sneak through the sewer, did you? You’re filthy. Go wash up quick, I’ll get you something to eat. You can have it as soon as you come out," Shen Yunfang finally noticed the man’s attire after talking business and saw he was covered in dirt, yet had the audacity to lie on the bed, and even had his arms around her. She pushed Li Hongjun up, urging him to clean himself up.

She didn’t want to lie down either, so she got out of bed, opened the wardrobe to find him some clothes to change into, and also decided to change the bed sheets.

Li Hongjun watched the silhouette of his wife in her pajamas, amazed that her swaying figure was hinted at even through the loose sleeves, his throat tightened, and his big hand uncontrollably reached out to touch.

"Hey, what are you doing?" Suddenly, her waist was tightly embraced from behind, and Shen Yunfang was slightly startled. The clean clothes she had just found fell to the floor.

"Wife, it’s been over a month. Did you miss me?" Li Hongjun’s body pressed against hers the next moment. "I missed you, missed you a lot," he whispered sweet nothings into her ear.

"What are you doing, acting like a hooligan as soon as you come back? Have you no shame?" Shen Yunfang’s face flushed, yet despite her verbal protests, her body honestly softened.

"Hehe," Li Hongjun remained unfazed and breathless.

"Go away, you’re all dirty. Don’t rub your dirt on me," Shen Yunfang refused to yield.

"That’s easily said. The kids aren’t here, it’s a rare opportunity. Come, let me bathe you," said Li Hongjun, and with his arms around her, he led her into the bathroom.

"Shameless, I’m not the dirty one, you are the one who needs a bath," Shen Yunfang smacked his hand lightly, but in her heart, she thought it was a good thing she had the foresight to know he would be coming back and had plugged in the water heater at noon; otherwise, they’d be having cold showers now.

"Look at you, where’s your realization? We’re husband and wife, one entity. Does it make a difference whether you bathe me or I bathe you?" By the time they finished speaking, they had already reached the bathroom.

It only took Li Hongjun a moment to lower the toilet partition, turning the space into a bathroom, stripping himself and also removing his wife’s pajamas.

By then, Shen Yunfang was no longer coy. She adjusted the water to a warm temperature, letting it flow over both of their bodies, then carefully lathered Li Hongjun up, her hands wandering everywhere to warm him up. Indeed, before he’d even rinsed off, she found herself pressed against the wall and penetrated deeply.

"Ah..." As the two united closely, they both let out a sigh of contentment.

"Wife, I missed you, I really did," Li Hongjun uttered his longing for his wife, accompanied by the sound of running water and the continuous slapping sounds.

The couple, experiencing a happiness like that of newlyweds, fought three hundred rounds in the bathroom and then moved the battle to the bedroom. If Shen Yunfang hadn’t maintained a sliver of rationality, remembering their son and daughter, they probably would have faced immense embarrassment, almost certainly being "caught in the act" by their children.

Shen Yunfang stood stiffly in the kitchen, wielding the spatula, while listening to the affectionate voices of Li Hongjun and the children outside.

"Daddy, daddy, you’re finally back. Manman missed you so much." Manman buried her head in her father’s embrace, seeking comfort.

"Daddy missed you too. See, Daddy is back, and the first thing I did was come to see our Manman," Li Hongjun cooed to his child, as if the passionate affair in the afternoon had been just a dream.

"Daddy, did you catch all the bad guys?" Pangpang looked up at his father with admiration in his eyes.

Li Hongjun reached out to pull his son into his arms, looking at the wound on his forehead with a pained expression. It had scabbed over, but the scar might seem trivial on someone else—a mere scratch—but on his own son, it was a different story; it hurt his heart.

"Does it still hurt, son?" Li Hongjun gently touched his son’s hair, which had been shorn around the injury and now looked as if a dog had gnawed at it.

"It doesn’t hurt. I’m a tough guy." Pangpang was still young, without a sense of vanity about his looks, so for the past few days, he’d been going out sporting such a haircut without any hindrance.

Right now, he seemed to have forgotten the pain as soon as the wound healed, not even remembering it was he who had cried at the time of the injury, currently just showing off.

"Good, just like my son should be." Li Hongjun hugged his child tightly, his heart aching for both his son and his daughter-in-law. Not being there for them when they were bullied and injured was his fault; he felt he had let them down.

"Daddy, someone bullied Mom and us." Manman quickly poked her head out of her father’s embrace to tattle. That bad woman was really too cruel; she’d even tried to hit Mom and brother. Manman was very upset and was used to running to daddy whenever someone bullied her—he would always seek revenge for her.

"Hmm, Daddy knows, and Daddy won’t let that person have the chance to bully you again, trust Daddy." Li Hongjun stroked his daughter’s little head and promised her that this matter wasn’t over—the culprit, Shen Yingxue, would have to serve years behind bars, or his son’s suffering would have been in vain.

Hearing her father’s words, Manman smiled, revealing her little tiger teeth; if Daddy said so, it must be right.

Then Pangpang began to press his father about whether he had used a gun during his mission and if he shot any bad guys.

Li Hongjun selected stories he could share and told them to his son, leaving both children bewildered.

When Shen Yunfang came out with the dishes, she saw this heartwarming scene.

"You all stop chatting for the moment and come help me with the bowls and chopsticks; dinner is ready." frёeωebɳovel.com

"Alright!" The crowd of big and small eagerly agreed, bustling into the kitchen to fetch plates and chopsticks, quickly preparing the dinner table.

Because of Li Hongjun’s return, Shen Yunfang had also put extra effort into preparing the evening meal.

On the table were mostly dishes that Li Hongjun loved.

Goose takes a long time to prepare and certainly couldn’t be done on short notice, but fortunately, there were reserves in storage, so the centerpiece of the table was indeed a whole, succulent goose.

Then there was pork ribs stewed with green beans, cauliflower stir-fried with meat, day-lily buds scrambled with eggs, stewed yellow catfish, and finally, a tomato and egg soup.

The family chatted as they ate, thoroughly enjoying the meal.

The beginning and the process of the meal were very pleasant, but the ending was spoiled by the arrival of an unwelcome guest.
