When His Nauseous Sweetheart Frowns, the Tycoon's Family Takes Turns Pampering Her-Chapter 75: Enough to Land Him 10 Years in Prison
At the Yates family villa, a maid nervously eyed the police officers at the door.
"Does Eliana Yates live here?" one of the officers asked, flashing his badge.
The maid wrung her hands. "Yes, she’s the young lady of the house."
"What’s going on?" a displeased voice called from the staircase.
Director Yates had been plagued by trouble, leaving him uneasy and a light sleeper.
He had heard the doorbell from upstairs, and once he heard it was the police, sleep was out of the question.
Ever since the incident at the Hepatology Hospital, it felt like a knife was hanging over his head, ready to fall at any moment. He was living in constant fear.
The slightest disturbance set his nerves on edge. This was no way for a normal person to live.
With the police at his door, he was almost tempted to just let it all fall apart. He walked down the stairs to face them.
"We’re looking for Ms. Eliana Yates. Mr. Blaze Fairchild, Luna Axton’s legal guardian, has filed a report stating that Ms. Yates publicly attacked Luna Axton in a live stream on a short-video platform, violating her rights to privacy, likeness, and reputation."
"Based on the materials submitted by the concerned party, our precinct has officially opened a case. We need Ms. Eliana Yates to come with us to the station to cooperate with the investigation."
The officer laid out the situation with practiced, impartial clarity.
’Eliana got herself into trouble.’
That was Director Yates’s first reaction.
’And it’s a disaster of epic proportions.’
’How dare Eliana provoke Blaze Fairchild? She must be tired of living a good life.’
Outwardly, however, he maintained the composure of a public official.
"I’ll go get her now. Please, have a seat." Director Yates glanced at the maid. "Get our guests some water."
In the few steps it took to climb the stairs, a thousand thoughts raced through Director Yates’s mind.
There might still be some room to maneuver regarding his own affairs, but by provoking Blaze Fairchild—who was now wielding the law and exercising his civil rights—the Yates family was well and truly finished.
Director Yates knocked on his daughter’s door. "What do you want?"
"The police are here for you. Get up."
After a few seconds of silence, a shuffling sound came from within the room.
Director Yates pushed the door open, and a foul stench hit him. He frowned and covered his nose.
The sealed room was filled with an unidentifiable, sour stench.
Furious, Director Yates flipped the switch, and the overhead light blazed to life.
The room was a complete mess, with snack bags and beer cans scattered everywhere.
’This doesn’t look like a girl’s room at all!’
"Eliana, get up," Director Yates snapped, yanking the covers off her.
"What is it?" Eliana sat up, rubbing her bloodshot eyes with a displeased frown.
She had just been dreaming about furiously slapping Luna Axton, and her wonderful dream had been interrupted.
"What have you been doing all day? The police are at the door!"
A mocking smile touched Eliana’s lips. "You never cared about me before. When I wanted you to cut my birthday cake with me, you had to go be with that bastard child of yours. Now the police are here for me, and you’re asking what I’ve been doing? Director Yates, where were you then?"
She spat out his title, "Director Yates," with heavy, biting sarcasm.
Director Yates stood stunned by the bed as Eliana shoved past him and went straight downstairs.
"I’m Eliana Yates," she announced.
The two officers had handled many cases, but this was the first time they’d seen a suspect act so brazenly. "Please, come with us."
Eliana remained on the steps, warily making a demand. "I want to see your identification."
’Who did she piss off to be this paranoid?’
The two officers made a mental note of this and calmly showed their police badges.
Once their identities were confirmed, Eliana asked no more questions and left with the police, completely ignoring the sound of Mrs. Yates crying out behind her.
That same morning, the Jacobs family wasn’t faring much better.
Miles Jacobs woke up to a message from an unknown number. At first, he assumed it was sent by mistake.
Other than his secretary, only his family knew his personal number.
But every word of the message was true, right down to the correct time and location of Kai’s birthday party.
It was only because it was Kai’s birthday that he had allowed him to go out and have fun.
And as a result, he had caused a catastrophe.
Kai had let out half a month’s worth of pent-up depravity all at his birthday party.
Any one of the things mentioned in the stranger’s message was enough to land him in jail for a while.
The crimes committed at that one birthday party were enough to put him away for ten years.
He had worked diligently for decades, only for his brat of a son to ruin it all with a single birthday party.
Miles Jacobs strode grimly toward Kai’s room, kicked the door open, and dragged Kai out from under the covers.
The violently broken lock fell to the wooden floor with a loud CLANG, shattering the dreams of anyone still asleep.
"Look what you did at your birthday party!" Miles Jacobs seethed, shoving the phone screen right in his son’s face.
Kai, his hair a bird’s nest, was still bleary-eyed with sleep.
"Who the fuck is running their mouth like that!" Kai cursed after reading the text. "I’ll kill him."
Miles backhanded Kai across the face. "Who do you think you are, talking like that!"
"What’s going on so early in the morning?" Rosalind Fairchild had been startled awake by the CLANG of the lock hitting the floor.
She came over, wrapped in a robe, just in time to see Miles hit Kai.
"He..." Miles couldn’t bring himself to say it.
’An orgy at the birthday party, everyone doing laughing gas... Rosalind can’t know about this sordid business.’
"In short, he’s involved in sex and drugs."
Rosalind couldn’t believe it. "Kai?"
Kai raised an eyebrow, completely unafraid. He admitted it. "Yeah, I did. So what?"
"How was I supposed to know some big mouth would rat me out? If I find out who it was, I’ll fucking kill them."
"Dad, give me the number. I have a friend who can trace it." Kai still hadn’t grasped the severity of the situation.
Miles Jacobs never imagined that the son who grew up right under his nose would get involved with sex and drugs.
His son, Miles Jacobs’s son, had committed a crime.
He couldn’t for the life of him figure out where his parenting had gone wrong.
Rosalind didn’t have time for that. The important thing was to pull some strings and bury this whole affair.
"Have you offended anyone recently?"
"Does Luna Axton count?"
Miles Jacobs’s brow furrowed tightly. "Your cousin-in-law?"
"I had someone flame her on a live stream."
"Then it must be Blaze Fairchild’s doing. Don’t panic, I’ll handle it." The moment she thought of Blaze, Rosalind’s fighting spirit was ignited. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
’Blaze Fairchild, even so, you’ll never win against me.’
"Wait, that’s not the point. The point is that our son really is involved in sex and drugs." Miles Jacobs’s principles wouldn’t allow him to watch his son evade responsibility.
If you do something wrong, you have to face the consequences and pay the price.
When you break the law, you can’t escape. The arm of the law is long.
Rosalind stared, stunned for a few seconds, then glared at him. "Are you going to turn your back on your own family? He’s your son!"
Kai was also in shock, staring at his father as if he were a stranger.
’At a time like this, shouldn’t his father be protecting him? Shouldn’t he be helping him clean up this mess?’
"Dad, is your future more important than me?" Kai asked, disappointed.
"No. Your future and my future are tied together. If you mess up, I go down with you. How could I possibly save my own skin?" Miles Jacobs pleaded, hoping his wife and son would understand his intentions. "I just hope you can recognize your mistake and change before it’s too late. I’m willing to accept the punishment with you."
"Why don’t you and Mom just make this go away? Why do I have to take responsibility?" Kai had never once considered that he would have to bear any consequences. "You can use Mom’s money to pull some strings, and Mom can go back to the Fairchild Estate and ask Grandpa for help. Wouldn’t that solve everything?"
It had worked so many times before. This time would be no different.
