When His Nauseous Sweetheart Frowns, the Tycoon's Family Takes Turns Pampering Her-Chapter 123: Russell Frost Went to Kensing
The new year had just begun, and the Lantern Festival had not yet arrived.
Concordia Medical Hall wasn’t busy. Everyone was still immersed in the holiday cheer, in no mood to work.
During the lunch break, Luna Axton knocked on the door of Academician Theodore Frost’s break room. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
It was called the Academician’s break room, but it was actually a shared lounge for the Frost family. Concordia Medical Hall didn’t have enough break rooms, so the family just gathered together in one.
They didn’t have the habit of taking afternoon naps. Instead, they preferred to sit together during their lunch break, drink tea, and chat about their day’s work.
Working together as a family, the lunch break was the only time they could all sit down and talk.
Once things got busy, the doctors, who sat at their desks all day, would just go back to their respective rooms after work to lie down and empty their minds, not wanting to talk or even think.
Luna Axton knocked lightly on the door.
The person who opened it was May Ford.
"Mrs. Ford." Luna Axton did her best not to let her worries show, forcing a smile.
When May Ford saw it was her, her smile deepened. "Luna, come in, quick."
Luna Axton went inside and saw that, as expected, all four members of the Frost family were there drinking tea.
Theodore Frost and Mason Frost looked at her, holding their teacups. Ethan Frost still had a knife in his hand, peeling a pear.
The tea-making station was empty; May Ford must have been the one in charge of brewing the tea.
Seeing her standing timidly at the door, May Ford patted the armchair beside her. "Luna, come sit here."
"Goodness, child. We just had the Spring Festival, how did you become even more reserved?" Mason Frost joked with a smile. "We’re all family here. Come and sit with us."
"Okay, Uncle," she replied, trying her best to make everything seem the same as before.
After some small talk, she took out the items from her canvas bag.
"I made you all gifts before the Spring Festival."
Her words captured everyone’s attention. She had brought gifts, and what’s more, Luna had made them herself.
They didn’t stand on ceremony and each took their own.
As the boxes were opened, a faint fragrance wafted out—elegant, sweet, and distinct.
"Agarwood Bracelets." Mason Frost’s delight was written all over his face. "The scent is pure. Very nice."
Theodore Frost, whose eyes had seen many fine things, was now examining the bracelet intently.
Agarwood is a medicinal ingredient, known as "the gold of medicine." It has high medicinal value, with effects like promoting qi circulation to relieve pain and warming the body to stop nausea. Long-term wear can also calm the mind and aid sleep.
Looking at the resin lines on the Agarwood Bracelet in his hand, he could tell it was top-grade agarwood.
He wouldn’t have had the heart to have such fine material made into a bracelet to wear.
But since it was a gift from Luna, he would definitely carry it with him always.
Theodore Frost put it directly on his wrist. It was a perfect fit.
He nodded in satisfaction and picked up his traditional medicine hammer to tap his legs.
’Ah, so comfortable. Something made by Luna is just different from something store-bought.’
Seeing how pleased his grandfather and father were, Ethan Frost was filled with envy.
His gaze fell on the closed box in front of him. His hands were sticky, so his curiosity would have to wait until after he finished his pear.
"Ooh~"
May Ford let out a gasp of admiration, and everyone looked at her.
She had already wrapped the bracelet twice around her wrist. The pairing of agarwood and gold added an air of elegance about her.
May Ford looked at the men’s bracelets, then at her own. ’I really am special in Luna’s heart.’
"My beads are smaller than yours, but the fragrance is cool and sweet, and there seems to be a hint of milkiness to it. It really is like wearable perfume. It smells wonderful."
As soon as she finished speaking, May Ford cupped Luna Axton’s face and kissed her on the cheek, like a mother doting on her beloved daughter.
"Luna, I love it so much! Thank you. And you even designed these little trinkets for me, they’re beautiful."
Luna Axton’s heart hammered in her chest, startled by the sudden gesture. May Ford had always liked her a lot, but they had never been this affectionate before.
’Could it be that the Frosts all know about my parentage?’
Luna Axton was anxious, but she didn’t let any of it show on her face. "I’m just happy you all like them."
"We love them," said Theodore Frost.
"Since getting married, this is the first time I’ve received such an exquisite, thoughtful handmade gift," said Mason Frost.
Of course, he had received a Father’s Day card when his son was in kindergarten, but it was just a blank piece of paper folded in two—a perfunctory gesture devoid of any real meaning.
"Ah, having a daughter is so wonderful. She even knew to make different styles for us. Unlike..." May Ford’s gaze fell on Ethan Frost, who was only focused on eating his pear.
Ethan Frost froze mid-bite...
He silently lowered his head, finished the rest of the pear in two bites, stuffed his cheeks with the fruit, and escaped to the side to wash his hands.
’Good thing Luna Axton isn’t my little sister,’ he thought. ’Otherwise, would there even be a place for me in this family?’
Seeing this, May Ford said, "Forget it. Boys are never as thoughtful as a daughter. I guess I’m not blessed with that kind of luck. Good thing I have a niece-in-law like Luna."
Theodore Frost and Mason Frost both nodded in agreement.
After complaining about her son, May Ford’s gaze on Luna was once again full of affection.
"We have a gift for you, too," Mason Frost reminded his wife, telling her not to get too caught up in admiring her new bracelet.
"Oh, right, right! Look at me, I get so happy I forget what’s important."
May Ford happily went to grab a bag that was sitting on a nearby cabinet.
"Your due date is in July, so we prepared some nourishing supplements for your postpartum recovery. Take them home with you and have them during your confinement month. If your family doesn’t know how to prepare them, just tell me, and I’ll do it for you."
The Fu and Frost families were very close. Blaze’s wife was no different from a daughter-in-law of the Frost family.
"Okay." The corners of Luna Axton’s eyes turned red. ’How is this any different from how they’d treat their own daughter?’
Everyone was too good to her. They had even planned out what she would eat and what supplements she would take during her confinement. Surrounded by so much love, she felt that nothing she could do would ever be enough to repay them all.
"There’s one more," May Ford said, patting her shoulder comfortingly. She then took out a small gift box. "This one is from your Little Uncle, just for you."
The moment Luna Axton saw the familiar wrapping paper, she knew it was from the same shop where her mother used to buy aromatherapy products.
’This gift... my Little Uncle must have bought it on the day my mother’s situation was discovered.’
’This is a New Year’s gift from my father.’
’In the new year, with everyone’s blessings, everything will go smoothly.’
She gripped the edge of the gift box, her knuckles turning white. She bit her lower lip, not daring to speak.
Seeing the torrent of tears welling up in her eyes, May Ford pulled her into a hug. "There, there, it’s just a gift."
Pressed against May’s chest, Luna Axton’s tears burst forth. She choked out, "I’m just so moved."
Before her mother got sick, she used to travel abroad every Spring Festival and would receive New Year’s gifts from the hotels she stayed at.
Back then, she thought the world was a wonderful place and took everything for granted.
After the two years of her mother’s illness, her world had been crushed to pieces.
Now, everyone was piecing it back together for her, bit by bit. She had become more resilient and brave.
Her crying spell silenced the three medical titans, men who were famous in their field and accustomed to matters of life and death. They looked at each other, at a complete loss.
Luna Axton’s emotions came on quickly, but they faded just as fast.
She looked with tear-filled eyes at the wet spot on May Ford’s chest. "Mrs. Ford, I’m so sorry, I got your clothes wet."
"It’s fine," May Ford said. "Ethan will take care of it."
Luna Axton gave an embarrassed smile.
She put away the gift from her Little Uncle, then took out the one she had for him and asked Ethan Frost to pass it along.
"I ran into Little Uncle before the Spring Festival and was thinking I could bring your gifts over when I came for a New Year’s visit," Luna Axton explained, giving a reason for why she hadn’t visited the Frost Family during the holiday. "Something came up in between, so I wasn’t able to make it."
Mason Frost wanted to comfort Luna, this sweet girl that everyone wanted to dote on, but all he could manage to squeeze out was, "It’s fine."
The moment the words left his mouth, he earned a sharp glare from his wife that said, ’If you don’t know how to comfort someone, then just shut up.’
’It really wasn’t his fault he was so clumsy with words. His wife was an outstanding woman, accomplished in every way, but they’d had a son. He had no theoretical knowledge or practical experience when it came to comforting girls.’
May Ford said gently, "It’s alright. Even if you had come to the Frost home, your Little Uncle wouldn’t have been here. As for his New Year’s gift, he’ll only be able to receive it after he gets back from Kensing."
Back from Kensing!
Luna Axton’s heart skipped a beat.
She immediately lowered her gaze, her long, thick eyelashes hiding the panic in her eyes.
’Why did Little Uncle go to Kensing?’
"Did Little Uncle go to Kensing for work?" she asked, pretending to be merely curious about his job.
"Your Little Uncle didn’t say. He left in a hurry on the first day of the New Year. It must be that the organization assigned him an important and confidential mission."
Since it was an arrangement by the organization, she felt a sense of unease and didn’t dare ask any more questions.
