Chapter 121: Chapter 121: We’ll Play with Lucky Like This Too

The next day, Luna Axton was awakened by the first rays of morning light filtering into the room.

The light was intense, with no curtains to block it. It flooded the room, enveloping the two sleeping figures in its glow.

"You always love to stare out the window at home, so I booked this room." Blaze Fairchild’s voice was laced with the unique hoarseness and languor of someone who had just woken up. "Sunrise and sunset... I hope you’ll like it, and that it’ll lift your spirits."

"I do feel a lot more relaxed," Luna Axton said honestly. "I slept very well last night."

’Except for that little incident in the middle of the night,’ she added silently in her heart.

Blaze Fairchild buried his head in the crook of her neck, his muffled voice asking, "Want to lie in a little longer, or get up now?"

"Let’s get up." After all, they weren’t at home. If they waited any longer, the hotel would be delivering their breakfast.

"Alright, I’ll get your clothes for you." Blaze Fairchild rolled out of bed and rummaged through the suitcase for both of their outfits.

Once dressed, he went to wash up. The shower room was just as small, with only enough space for one person.

After Luna Axton got dressed, she took the camera Blaze Fairchild had brought and went outside to take pictures of everything.

Dewdrops on the dry firewood, nameless blades of grass and tiny flowers, even the small pebbles mixed in the muddy ground—she captured them all in her camera.

Her gaze fell upon the small stones on the ground and she froze, her uncomprehending eyes sweeping over the small hill behind the cabin.

’Those sharp edges... they must be really uncomfortable to lie on.’

That was where the sounds from last night had come from.

’On ground like that, with all the fallen pine needles... wouldn’t it be prickly and cold?’

When Blaze Fairchild came out from washing up, he saw her staring blankly at the back mountain, the words ’I don’t get it’ written all over her fair little face.

It was an incredibly pure and adorable sight.

He crossed his arms and leaned against the doorframe, a faint, almost imperceptible smile playing on his lips.

When Luna Axton snapped back to reality, she was greeted by the sight of his lazy, leisurely posture.

Blaze Fairchild was still wearing yesterday’s jacket, his shoulders broad, his long legs standing tall.

She averted her gaze, a blush creeping up her cheeks. "I wasn’t staring over there. I just... don’t understand."

Blaze Fairchild didn’t respond to her comment. "Go wash your face and brush your teeth."

The way he said it made it seem like she had a guilty conscience.

She wanted to explain, but it felt like no matter what she said, the more she spoke, the guiltier she would sound.

Luna Axton decided to drop the subject and walked past him to wash up.

Pink, translucent toothpaste was already squeezed onto her toothbrush, and a cup of warm water was waiting.

Luna Axton thought, ’He may be a bit shameless with his words, but he’s actually very thoughtful. Usually, he’s quite serious and reliable.’

However, this last remaining shred of goodwill was shattered by what Blaze Fairchild said after he came in.

Luna had just finished brushing her teeth when he pressed up against her from behind. He said, "Don’t worry, Luna. I won’t do *that* to you."

At first, Luna Axton didn’t understand what *that* was.

But seeing the suggestive smile in his eyes, she instantly understood. Her beautiful eyes widened as she stared at Blaze Fairchild’s mouth in the mirror.

’I really want to take a suture needle and sew his mouth shut so he can’t spout any more nonsense.’

She was only as tall as his shoulders, and with his broad frame, he completely enveloped her in his embrace.

Not wanting to hear another word out of his mouth, she could only pretend she hadn’t heard him.

Luna Axton lowered her head, turned on the hot water, wrung out a washcloth, and draped it over her face. Out of sight, out of mind.

She let the warm washcloth rest on her face, rubbing her eyes a little before taking it off.

In that instant, Blaze Fairchild’s handsome face was suddenly magnified right in front of her.

Before she could react, Blaze Fairchild’s lips pressed down on hers.

SMOOCH~

It was a loud kiss, and Luna Axton’s face instantly turned red.

Blaze Fairchild released her chin, running his tongue over his own lips as if savoring the taste, and praised, "Peach-flavored. Delicious."

Luna Axton, mortified and furious, pounded on his chest in frustration.

But Blaze Fairchild didn’t feel any pain at all. With his muscular physique, he was more worried that her delicate little hands would get sore from hitting him.

After this bit of playful torment from Blaze Fairchild, most of the sadness Luna Axton felt from parting with her mother had vanished.

After they finished the hotel breakfast, Blaze Fairchild suggested they go for a walk.

From the bus-cabin where they were staying, they could walk toward another mountain peak where there was an ancient town worth exploring.

Luna Axton readily agreed. Since they were already out, she might as well walk around and make up for her lack of exercise recently.

Blaze Fairchild found a light, foldable backpack and packed it with warm water, snacks, and fruit for Luna Axton to have on the way.

Once he was ready and had checked that Luna’s hiking shoes were fine, the two of them set off.

They weren’t the only couple on the path.

Not far behind them was another couple, walking a corgi with a docked tail.

The little corgi had big, round, beautiful eyes.

It would occasionally dart near them, but its owner, seeing that Luna Axton was pregnant, held the leash tightly and wouldn’t let it get close.

Luna Axton’s gaze fell on the corgi’s little heart-shaped bottom, which waddled from side to side as it walked, looking especially cute.

The man would run with the corgi for a bit, then stop to wait for the woman, who had fallen behind.

Ahead of them was a family of three with a little girl who looked to be about three or four years old.

She wasn’t a mother yet, so she wasn’t very good at guessing children’s ages.

The little girl held her father’s hand with one hand and her mother’s with the other. To the family’s chant of "One, two, three, jump!" the parents would swing her high into the air, carrying her off the ground for a few steps before stopping to walk again...

They repeated this over and over, covering a long stretch of the path.

It wasn’t until the little girl said she was thirsty that the family sat down on a stone bench by the path to rest.

Luna Axton and Blaze Fairchild didn’t say much along the way.

Only after they had left both groups far behind, creating enough distance that they could no longer be heard, did she speak. "So that’s how kids like to play?"

Blaze Fairchild nodded. "Mhm, we’ll play with Lucky like that in the future, too."

Luna Axton’s steps faltered slightly. Her heart felt as if it were being squeezed, and a faint ache spread through her chest.

She had forgotten—she grew up without a father, and Blaze Fairchild had only had his grandfather.

Neither of them had grown up in a complete family.

But that was okay. Lucky would have a mother and a father. Her and Blaze Fairchild’s child would have a complete family.

Luna Axton was confident of that.

After spending so much time together, and considering what Wyatt Kingston had said—that Blaze Fairchild had already started going on blind dates before they got married—all signs pointed to the fact that Blaze Fairchild had no intention of divorcing her.

Lucky’s birth wouldn’t just complete her own life; it would also make up for the childhood regrets she and Blaze Fairchild both shared.

All the things they had never experienced, they could now experience through Lucky.

By letting him experience them, they, as parents, could play along too.

Thinking of this, Luna Axton couldn’t help but smile.

Blaze Fairchild saw the corners of her lips lift. In the sunlight, her smile was even more beautiful than the camellias from yesterday—vibrant and bright.

With that one smile, Blaze Fairchild felt it was all worth it.

His elaborate efforts hadn’t been in vain—bringing her out on a trip, teasing her until she got angry.

Her emotions seemed stable on the surface—no big fights, no hysterics—but in reality, she was just suppressing everything.

He felt a great sense of accomplishment for being able to clear away some of Luna’s inner negativity.

They walked at a steady pace, not stopping to sit down and rest. They only paused for Luna to stand and drink some water when she got thirsty.

When they arrived at the ancient town, Blaze Fairchild found a local specialty restaurant for a meal.

It wasn’t that they were hungry; they just wanted to try the local delicacies and experience the food culture of a different region.

Even though it was the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, the ancient town was still bustling with people.

In recent years, the number of people traveling during the Spring Festival has continued to climb, driving growth in many industries. Local tourism boards have even taken the lead, vigorously promoting their regional attractions.

The shopkeepers were doing their part too, each one smiling cheerfully and warmly welcoming visitors.

After their meal, Luna Axton and Blaze Fairchild strolled through the ancient town.

It was a small town nestled by a mountain and a stream. Luna Axton looked at the waterfall she and Blaze Fairchild had seen on their way, which truly had the magnificent air of the Milky Way falling from the heavens, as described in ancient poetry.

That small waterfall became a babbling brook by the time it reached the ancient town.

A stone pier bridge spanned the stream. Luna Axton read the inscription on a stone tablet at the head of the bridge; it was already a hundred years old, yet still so sturdy.

Both sides of the stream were lined with many handicraft shops where you could buy finished products or make your own.

Her interest piqued, Luna Axton followed a pleasant aroma into one of the shops.
