Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 9: Taking the Initiative to Kiss Him
Vivian Quinn sensed trouble.
Sure enough, the next second, the man lowered his head and kissed her again...
「Meanwhile.」
Rachel Quinn frowned. "Austin, who’s in private room number eight? It’s like they’re deliberately targeting us. They’re bidding on everything we want."
Austin Grant’s expression darkened. He rang for an attendant. "Who’s in private room number eight?"
The attendant bowed his head. "I’m sorry, Master Grant, but we cannot disclose our guests’ private information."
"I’m a VIP here. Is there anything I’m not allowed to know?"
"But they are a VIP as well," the attendant said, steeling himself. "And as you know, Master Grant, our rooms are ranked by number. Room eight is the highest tier. They can inquire about your identity, but you cannot inquire about theirs..."
Austin Grant’s face grew even darker.
"How outrageous!" Rachel Quinn snapped. "Is that any way to speak to a guest? I’m going to file a complaint and have your manager fire you!"
"My apologies, Miss Quinn."
"Get out."
The attendant scrambled out of the room.
An idea flashed in Rachel Quinn’s eyes. "Austin, don’t be mad," she said. "I’ll go over to room eight and see who it is myself!"
"Good. I’d like to see who dares to cross me."
Rachel Quinn clicked away on her high heels, pretending she was going to the restroom as she headed for room eight.
Seeing that no one was around, Rachel Quinn slowed her pace, tiptoeing to the door. She threw it open unexpectedly. "Hello, could you tell me where the restroom is?"
The sight of a man and woman locked in a passionate embrace under the dim lights caught her completely by surprise. "Uh... I’m sorry."
Vivian Quinn’s eyes flew open. Hearing Rachel Quinn’s voice, she quickly buried her face in the man’s chest.
Jett Sterling’s brow furrowed. "Get out!" he said in an icy tone.
Rachel Quinn flinched. Just from his silhouette, she could tell this was not a man to be trifled with. She hastily stammered, "My apologies," and shut the door before leaving.
Vivian Quinn breathed a silent sigh of relief.
Jett Sterling glanced down at the girl hiding in his embrace. "That scared of being seen with me?"
"That’s not it," Vivian Quinn said. "Rachel Quinn is an expert at stirring up trouble. I just don’t want to make things more complicated."
Jett Sterling grudgingly accepted her reason. "We were interrupted. Let’s continue."
Vivian Quinn: "..."!!!
She scrambled out of his arms. "No way! Let’s just focus on the auction!" 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Still shaken, Rachel Quinn returned to room six. "Austin..."
"What’s wrong?" Austin Grant asked. "Who’s in there?"
"I don’t know. A man and a woman were kissing. I only saw their backs, and he was really aggressive."
"Is that so?" Austin Grant’s eyes narrowed. "I’ll have someone look into it. I’ll make them pay."
"Mm, Austin, you’re the best to me." Remembering the steamy scene she’d just witnessed, Rachel Quinn felt a stir of excitement. She sat on Austin Grant’s lap and gave him a fiery kiss.
Sparks flew, and things nearly got out of hand before they were fortunately interrupted by the next auction item.
"Austin, look! That sapphire necklace is so beautiful!"
"You like it?" Austin Grant’s face was buried in her chest, and he was in high spirits. "I’ll buy it for you. It can be our engagement gift."
"Really?" Rachel Quinn’s eyes lit up, but she put on a sensible air. "The starting bid is fifty million. That’s too expensive, I couldn’t possibly accept it."
"Austin, I’m marrying you because I love you, not for your money."
"I know. You’re my woman. It’s only right that I buy you a necklace."
Rachel Quinn planted a firm kiss on his cheek. "Thank you, Austin!"
Vivian Quinn’s heart wouldn’t stop racing. She took large gulps of water, trying to calm herself down.
The item currently up for auction was a dazzling sapphire necklace, the final and most anticipated piece of the night. The auctioneer spent a good seven or eight minutes just detailing its provenance, a testament to its value.
Vivian Quinn didn’t know much about jewelry, but the necklace was clearly a hot-ticket item. Many people in the audience were eagerly and competitively raising their bids.
Austin Grant, determined to win it, waited until the bidding reached a hundred million before making his move, raising the price by another ten million.
Many bidders had dropped out, but a few were still driving the price up.
Austin Grant remained unhurried. By the time the price hit one hundred and fifty million, the other bidders had gone silent.
Just as the auctioneer was about to bring the hammer down, his face lit up with excitement. "A bid of two hundred million from our esteemed guest in room number eight! Do I have any other bids?"
Austin Grant’s face instantly blackened!
Rachel Quinn grew frantic. She adored that necklace. If she could wear it to her engagement party, she would undoubtedly be the center of attention. She couldn’t let it slip away!
"Austin, what are we going to do?" Rachel Quinn whined.
Austin Grant was furious. "They really are targeting me. They’re trying to outbid me on everything. Fine. Today, I’ll show them the price of crossing Austin Grant!"
Austin Grant immediately raised his bid: "Two hundred and ten million!"
Jett Sterling coolly raised the bid to three hundred million!
Austin Grant nearly choked on his own rage. Blood rushed to his head as he raised his bid again: "Three hundred and ten million!"
Jett Sterling raised it to four hundred million!
It wasn’t just the people in the audience; even Vivian Quinn was stunned. "Jett Sterling, are you insane? Who bids like that?"
Jett Sterling turned to look at her. "What’s a little money, if it can make Miss Quinn smile?"
Vivian Quinn’s heart began to race uncontrollably again, like a gentle breeze rippling the surface of a placid lake.
She didn’t care about the necklace itself, but she knew Austin Grant was buying it for Rachel Quinn.
Jett Sterling was getting revenge for her in the most direct and brutal way possible.
Vivian Quinn’s eyes stung. "Jett Sterling, thank you. But you really don’t have to do this. The price has already far exceeded the necklace’s actual value. It’s not worth it."
"You’re my girlfriend. You don’t need to feel pressured about things like this."
In room number six, Austin Grant was so enraged he smashed a wine glass on the table. "Damn it!"
He threw caution to the wind, grabbing the bidding remote to raise the price again. He had to win this necklace today, no matter what!
This was no longer about a necklace. It was a matter of a man’s pride!
Just as Jett Sterling was about to raise the bid again, Vivian Quinn stopped him. "Don’t bid anymore. It’s really not worth it."
’There are so many better things to do with that money! Why waste it getting into a pissing contest with that scumbag!’
Jett Sterling’s gaze deepened. "I can listen to you, but as my girlfriend, shouldn’t you give me some kind of reward?"
Vivian Quinn’s mind immediately flashed back to their passionate kiss from earlier, and her cheeks instantly flushed red.
’Does he want me to kiss him?’
’This man is impossible!’
Time was running out. Vivian Quinn didn’t have time to overthink it. She gave the man’s handsome face a quick peck, like a dragonfly skimming the water. "Is that good enough?"
Jett Sterling raised a hand to touch the spot she had kissed. A smile bloomed in the depths of his dark, intense eyes. "Not enough."
