Chapter 194: Chapter 194: The Child Is Dead

Rachel Quinn answered without hesitation, "I don’t know."

Vivian Quinn subconsciously glanced at the computer. The lie detector showed that Rachel Quinn wasn’t lying!

Vivian Quinn furrowed her brow. "Nonsense. You planned it, so how could you not know!"

"Vivian, I had someone find a local thug for the job. Of course, a guy who does that kind of thing would want to protect his privacy. After all, rape is illegal. So I really don’t know who the man was."

Vivian Quinn’s fingertips trembled with rage.

Rachel Quinn lowered her head in shame and said softly, "I paid fifty thousand yuan. What man would refuse a deal like that? It all went smoothly. But after it was done, of course he wouldn’t contact me again. I got what I wanted, so I had no reason to look for him either."

Vivian Quinn suppressed her fury. "And after that, I got pregnant?"

"Yes."

"And the baby?"

"The baby was stillborn."

Vivian Quinn looked at the lie detector. Rachel Quinn wasn’t lying!

"Where is the baby’s body?"

"Mom and Dad seemed to have taken one look at it. They said it was all bruised and purple, a frightening sight. They thought it was bad luck, so they slipped someone some money to have it secretly sent to a crematorium and burned. They didn’t even want the ashes. You were having a complete breakdown, so I suggested Mom and Dad find someone to hypnotize you into forgetting everything. That way, the matter would be over."

Vivian Quinn closed her eyes in agony. "Why would you all do this to me..."

"Vivian, I’m sorry. I really know I was wrong." Rachel Quinn was bawling. "Punish me. Give me a taste of my own medicine. Have someone do the same to me. As long as it makes you feel better, I’m willing to die!"

"Can your death turn back time? Can it make any of this un-happen?" Vivian Quinn said coldly. "Rachel Quinn, was Mrs. Quinn’s fall from the building related to you?"

Rachel Quinn hadn’t expected her to ask that so suddenly and froze.

Vivian Quinn watched the lie detector. "Your heart rate is speeding up, Rachel Quinn. It’s obvious you had something to do with this!"

The color drained from Rachel Quinn’s face!

"Rachel Quinn, didn’t you say you were remorseful? Is this your idea of remorse?"

Rachel Quinn got up, only to fall to her knees again. "Vivian, I was wrong! I admit it, I was the one who pushed Mom off the building! I’m insane! I’m not human!"

Vivian Quinn was confused. "You pushed her, and she was willing?"

"N-No... she wasn’t..."

"So you pushed the person who doted on you so much off a building, faked her suicide, all just to frame me?"

Rachel Quinn slapped her own face as she cried. "I’m not human! Vivian, I was at my wit’s end! She had just gone to see you, and I thought if she died, I could pin the blame on you... Vivian, I was wrong! I really know I was wrong. Please forgive me, won’t you?"

"Whether I forgive you or not is unimportant. You should ask the Quinn Family if they’ll forgive you."

"Vivian, don’t tell Dad!" Rachel Quinn said frantically. "You’ve already cut ties with the Quinn Family. I’m their only daughter now. Do you have the heart to hurt him with the truth?"

"Mom isn’t dead! She’ll definitely wake up, and when she does, I’ll be a good, dutiful daughter to her!" Rachel Quinn kowtowed heavily. "Vivian, I do love Mom! I was just blinded by hatred at that moment. The truth is, I’ve regretted it for a long time. I promise you, I’ll spend the rest of my life atoning for my sins! Vivian, I’m begging you..."

"Rachel Quinn, you’re terrifying." Vivian Quinn gathered her things and stood up. "I hope I never have to see you again for the rest of my life."

"Vivian, listen to me, Vivian..."

The moment Vivian Quinn left, Rachel Quinn’s phone rang. It was Silas Quinn. "Where are you?"

"Dad, I’m out right now," Rachel Quinn said obediently.

"Come to the hospital."

Rachel Quinn didn’t detect anything wrong with his tone. Although she didn’t want to go, she still agreed. "Okay, I’ll be right there."

In the hospital room, Silas Quinn sat by the bedside. On the bed lay Yvonne Lawrence, unconscious and on a ventilator.

"Dad." Rachel Quinn walked over and asked with concern, "How is Mom today?"

Silas Quinn stood up, turned to face her, and suddenly raised his hand, striking her hard across the face!

SLAP! The force of the blow snapped Rachel Quinn’s head to the side, and she nearly fell to the floor!

She had a bad feeling but still asked with a wronged expression, "Dad, what happened?"

"You have the nerve to ask!" Silas Quinn’s face was as black as thunder. "Your mother and I doted on you, gave you everything we could, and you dared to harm her! Have you no conscience? How could I have raised such a heartless, monstrous daughter!"

"Dad, I didn’t..."

"You still dare to deny it!" Silas Quinn roared. "Vivian sent me the video. You confessed with your own mouth, how do you explain that!"

The color instantly drained from Rachel Quinn’s face. "She recorded it..."

Silas Quinn clutched his chest, overcome with grief. "Rachel Quinn, you’re really going to be the death of me!"

"Dad, I was wrong!" Rachel Quinn dropped to her knees with a THUD, slapping her own face repeatedly. "I really know I was wrong! I’m insane! I’m not human! Dad, I’m begging you, forgive me! I’m willing to spend the rest of my life atoning for my sins! Dad, I’m begging you..."

"Rachel, your mother and I treated you like our own flesh and blood!" Silas Quinn said, grief-stricken. "Even after Vivian came back, we never let her shake your position. We continued to raise you as our biological daughter. You know full well how we treated you! We even chose you over our own child! What more did you want from us, huh?!"

"And that night... you hired someone to set Vivian up and get her pregnant. Did you even think about your mother and me? If word of this ever got out, how could the Quinn Family ever show its face again!"

"I really know I was wrong!" Rachel Quinn sobbed, breathless, grabbing his hand and trying to make him slap her with it. "Dad, hit me! Just beat this unfilial daughter to death! Dad, I really didn’t mean to! I was just blinded for a moment! I’m sorry, Dad! I’m so sorry, Mom..."

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the hospital room door, and several police officers walked in.

"Miss Rachel Quinn, you are a suspect in an attempted murder case. Please come with us."

Rachel Quinn’s face went white. "No, it wasn’t me! I didn’t kill anyone!"

"There is evidence pointing to you. You must cooperate with the investigation. Take her away."

Rachel Quinn was forcibly taken away, crying out for help, "Dad, save me! Dad, I’m begging you, I’m your only daughter! Dad! Dad..."

...

「Meanwhile」 Easton Rivers hung up the phone, knocked, and entered the room to report, "Ma’am, Rachel Quinn has been taken in for questioning."

"I know." Vivian Quinn’s unfocused gaze was fixed on a point in the empty air. "You can go. I’d like to be alone for a while."

"Yes, Ma’am."

Just as Easton Rivers stepped out, he came face-to-face with Jett Sterling. "Master Sterling, the Madam’s spirits are very low."

Jett Sterling didn’t say much. "Go on with your work."

"Yes, sir."

Jett Sterling entered the room, locked the door behind him, then rose from his wheelchair. He walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window and hugged the girl from behind. "Vivian, if you want to cry, just cry."
