Chapter 192: Chapter 192: Are You Proposing to Me?

’Vivian Quinn is actually The Phantom Healer!’

’How is that possible!’

’How could Vivian Quinn, that country bumpkin, be so capable!’

She suddenly realized she might have never truly known Vivian Quinn at all.

Rachel Quinn hadn’t slept all night. She only managed to doze off for a moment around dawn, and when she woke up, she was still alone.

She pressed the call button for the nurse. "Where’s my husband?"

"President Grant left last night and hasn’t come back." 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

Visibly displeased, Rachel Quinn picked up her phone to call Austin Grant, but he never answered.

Furious, Rachel Quinn hurled her phone against the wall. "Austin Grant, you bastard!"

...

Meanwhile, Vivian Quinn was at Sycamore Bay, preparing a delicious spread. Once everything was ready, she took Elle’s hand. "Let’s go."

Elle’s face lit up with excitement. "Yay! I love going out to play!"

"Be careful," Jett Sterling reminded them. "Don’t stay out too late. Come home early."

"Don’t worry. If you miss us, you can just come and find us."

Vivian Quinn took Elle to the hospital to pick up Joy Chase, and then they all headed to their destination.

Their outing took them to a lakeside in the suburbs. The area was still undeveloped and free of any commercialism, making it a perfect spot for a getaway.

Nanny Jenner and the bodyguards naturally came along, but Vivian Quinn didn’t let them help. She set up the tent with Elle, using it as an opportunity to build his practical skills.

Once the tent was pitched, Vivian Quinn took out her fishing rod. She cast a line and started a game of chess with Elle.

Joy Chase watched from the side, exclaiming in amazement, "Vivian, Elle is incredible! To have such masterful chess skills at his age!"

"He’s Jett Sterling’s son, after all. I heard Shirley Wentworth had his IQ tested, and it’s very high."

"Vivian, you really don’t mind at all?" Joy Chase asked curiously.

"If I minded, would I have brought Elle out to play?" Vivian Quinn said with a smile. "If I did bring him, it would probably be to push him into the lake."

Elle immediately piped up, "Vivian likes me the most! She wouldn’t have the heart to push me into the lake."

Vivian Quinn smiled and pinched his cheek. "That’s right."

The three of them were laughing and playing together when a familiar man’s voice suddenly cut through the air. "Vivian..."

Vivian Quinn turned her head and saw Austin Grant walking towards them.

A bodyguard immediately stepped forward to block Austin Grant. "Stop right there."

"Vivian, I have something very important to tell you!" Austin Grant said anxiously. "Just give me a little time, okay?"

Vivian Quinn stood up to approach him but was stopped by Nanny Jenner. "Ma’am, you can’t go over there. The Young Master won’t be happy if he finds out."

"I’ll just exchange a few words with him. It’ll be fine."

"Very well, then." Nanny Jenner gave the bodyguard a meaningful look. The guard immediately stepped forward to frisk Austin Grant. After confirming he wasn’t carrying anything dangerous, the guard stepped aside.

Vivian Quinn led him to a spot where no one could overhear their conversation but where they were still visible. "What is it? Go ahead."

"Vivian, I’m sorry." Austin Grant’s face was filled with remorse. "I’m so sorry for what I did to you..."

Vivian Quinn was a little baffled. "You’ve wronged me plenty of times. Which specific incident are you referring to? Or have you done something new to apologize for?"

"You’re right. I’ve wronged you in so many ways..." Austin Grant looked at her with sorrow. "I was an ungrateful bastard. You risked your life to save me, and I turned right around and got together with Rachel Quinn."

"You were disfigured and maimed for my sake, but I was disgusted by you. I deceived you and betrayed you. My sins are unforgivable..."

"Vivian, I’m a monster. You never should have saved me. You should have just let me die at the hands of those two kidnappers!"

"Austin Grant, you were my fiancé at the time. It was only right for me to save you," Vivian Quinn said, her face and heart completely impassive. "You betrayed me afterward, and I did resent you, I even hated you. But I eventually realized there’s no point in holding a grudge. The way things ended just proves we weren’t meant to be, so I’ve moved on."

"Austin Grant, to me, you’re now just a stranger. I won’t waste my love or my hate on you anymore."

"Vivian, it shouldn’t be this way!" Austin Grant said desperately. "We were meant for each other. I just let Rachel Quinn seduce me and lost my head for a moment. I know I was wrong now. Please, can’t you just forgive me this one time?"

Vivian Quinn frowned. "You didn’t come here today to ask to get back together, did you?"

"As long as you forgive me, we can start over. It’s not too late!" With a look of utter seriousness, Austin Grant pulled a ring box from his pocket and opened it, revealing a massive, pigeon-egg-sized diamond ring.

Vivian Quinn: "...???"

He then got down on one knee and said with deep affection, "Vivian, I owe you a proposal, I owe you a wedding, I owe you a lifetime of love. From now on, I’m willing to spend the rest of my life making it up to you."

Vivian Quinn: "..."

She gave him a look of utter bewilderment. "Austin Grant, is this a prank? Are you playing Truth or Dare or something?"

"Vivian, I’m serious! Please, believe me!"

Vivian Quinn’s expression turned icy in an instant. "Are you sick in the head? Your wife had a miscarriage just yesterday, and you’re here today proposing to me? Did you get kicked in the head by a donkey or something to do something this depraved? Or did you just come here to disgust me on purpose?"

"Vivian, is this about Rachel? Don’t worry about her. I’ll divorce her. If you say yes, I’ll file for divorce tomorrow!"

"Accept your proposal?" Vivian Quinn burst out laughing. "Austin Grant, it’s been a while since I’ve heard a joke that good. To me, you’re nothing but a piece of trash that makes my skin crawl just looking at you. And you think I’d accept your proposal?"

"Oh, you absolutely can’t get a divorce. After all, I once wished you and Rachel Quinn an eternity together—a bitch and a dog, forever. The two of you are a match made in hell. You need to stay shackled to each other for life so you don’t go out and ruin anyone else."

Pain contorted Austin Grant’s features. "Vivian, I love you with all my heart. Do you really have to hurt me like this?"

"You love me?" Vivian Quinn paused for a moment, then tilted her head. "Isn’t it just because my looks are back, I’m prettier than Rachel Quinn, and you’re turned on by what you see? Add to that how ugly Rachel got during her pregnancy, and the contrast became even more striking."

"You were probably willing to put up with it for the baby’s sake, but yesterday, the baby was gone. So now you can’t even be bothered to pretend." Vivian Quinn sneered. "Austin Grant, no matter how awful Rachel Quinn is, carrying your child was a difficult ordeal. And you, right now, are even trashier than when you were sneaking around behind my back with her. This is just who you are."

"So rest assured, it’s absolutely impossible for me to be interested in you. Even if you were the last man on earth, I wouldn’t give you a second glance!"

The color drained from Austin Grant’s face. He slowly rose to his feet, staring directly into her eyes as he said ominously, "Vivian, are you sure you want to refuse me? Don’t forget... I have leverage over you."
