Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 149: Kiss Whoever I Like
"I don’t know. I just overheard it by chance when I was serving tea. I didn’t dare listen for too long."
Vivian Quinn hurried away. "I’ll go ask."
As soon as she walked into the living room, she saw Wendy Reeves fuming. "Jett, what did you say? You won’t let Elle stay here? Where are you going to send him!"
The man in the wheelchair was expressionless. "Can’t you see he’s just a tool? Who knows what the person behind him wants by sending him to me."
"...But he’s your biological son, after all! Even if someone is using him, you have to keep him by your side to protect him!"
"I never said I was going to let him fend for himself. But if he stays here, it will affect Vivian’s mood. Take him back to your place. I’ll arrange for people to protect you both."
Wendy Reeves’s face turned pale with anger. "I knew it! You’re still doing this for Vivian Quinn! Just because Vivian Quinn might be unhappy, you’re going to send your own son away? Jett, even a vicious tiger won’t eat its own cubs! You’re truly heartless!"
Jett Sterling said coldly, "This child was an accident. He never should have existed in the first place."
"Jett, that’s going too far!" Wendy Reeves’s face was filled with anger. "Did Vivian Quinn whine and cry and whisper in your ear to get you to send the child away? I’m not done with her!"
"Don’t you dare slander Vivian. She didn’t say a thing. It was my own idea."
"I won’t allow it!" Wendy Reeves stood up, agitated. "I see it now. You’ve lost all basic sense for Vivian Quinn’s sake. I’m not leaving! I’m going to stay right here and keep an eye on Vivian Quinn, so she doesn’t lead you astray! Elle isn’t leaving either. He’s your son, the blood of the Sterling Family. He must stay here! If you have the guts, then throw us out yourself!"
The mother and son parted on bad terms. Wendy Reeves quickly stormed back to her room.
Jett Sterling pinched the bridge of his nose. Just as he was about to go upstairs, he caught a glimpse of a familiar figure out of the corner of his eye.
Vivian Quinn smiled at him, walked over, and took his hand. "Your mother is right. The child is innocent. He’s been without a father’s love for a long time. As his father, you have a duty and a responsibility to care for him. You can’t send him away."
"Vivian..."
"You don’t have to say anything. I understand." Vivian Quinn interrupted him. "I know you’re just trying to spare my feelings. If I’m uncomfortable, I will definitely tell you, and we can find another solution."
"But for now, at least, I have no intention of driving Elle away. He doesn’t reject me, and I don’t reject him. So listen to me, let’s have him stay here for the time being. As for everything else, we can deal with it after we find his birth mother."
Jett Sterling kissed the back of her hand. "Vivian, promise me you’ll tell me if you’re unhappy about anything. I don’t want you to be unhappy."
"Don’t worry. I, Vivian Quinn, have never been one to suffer in silence."
"Okay."
The matter was considered settled for the time being. When Wendy Reeves found out, she wasn’t grateful. Instead, she held it against Vivian Quinn and came to despise her even more.
The doorbell rang, and Ian Sterling sauntered in. "Young Uncle, Vivian Quinn, I’m here to wish you a Happy New Year."
The next second, he saw Elle sitting on the sofa, and his eyes nearly popped out of his head in shock. "Holy crap... Vivian Quinn, I haven’t seen you in a few days, and you’ve already had a kid with my young uncle? And he’s this big already?"
Everyone: "..."
"Ian Sterling, are you insane?" Vivian Quinn nearly rolled her eyes. "He is indeed your young uncle’s child, but he’s not mine."
"What did you say?" Ian Sterling swallowed nervously. "When did this happen?! Who did my young uncle have him with?!" 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"It’s a long story." Vivian Quinn stood up. "Dinner’s ready. Let’s eat first."
At the dinner table, Ian Sterling, the resident gossip-monger, suddenly felt that the feast before him had lost all its flavor.
His gaze darted between the people at the table before he leaned close to Vivian Quinn’s ear and whispered, "My young uncle’s genes are seriously strong. This kid looks exactly like him!"
Vivian Quinn smiled. "He does."
"And you can still smile?" Ian Sterling swallowed. "Vivian Quinn, you’ve got some serious nerve!"
Vivian Quinn ate calmly. "Should I be crying instead?"
"From what you just said, my young uncle doesn’t even know which woman he had this kid with. How exciting! Aren’t you jealous?"
"A little, I guess."
"So you can accept this child?"
"It’s not as simple as you think," Vivian Quinn explained. "Jett Sterling is right. Someone sent Elle here, and it can’t be just so he can have a father. There might be another motive. So we can only take it one step at a time."
"Exciting, exciting, this is too exciting!" Ian Sterling was practically vibrating with the need for more gossip. "I really want to see which female warrior was bold enough to secretly give birth to my young uncle’s child and only send him back when he’s over two years old!"
"You just love watching the drama, don’t you?"
"I really do!"
"Ian Sterling." A deep, cold voice suddenly cut in. "If you don’t want to eat, you can get out."
Ian Sterling immediately sat up straight. "I’ll eat. I’m eating right now."
"Exactly." Wendy Reeves shot Vivian Quinn a disgusted look. "Whispering and conspiring at the dinner table. What kind of behavior is that? You have no manners at all."
"Mom." Jett Sterling frowned. "Don’t target Vivian."
"I know, I know. Only you dote on your wife." Wendy Reeves put some food on Elle’s plate. "Sweetie, eat up."
"Thank you, Grandma." Elle picked up a piece of food with his small chopsticks and held it out toward Vivian Quinn. "Vivian, you eat."
Vivian Quinn was pleasantly surprised. "Thank you."
’Her grandson has never even served her any food, yet here he is, serving Vivian Quinn!’ Wendy Reeves’s heart ached.
Jett Sterling blocked Vivian Quinn’s bowl and looked at Elle. "Has no one taught you to use serving chopsticks when giving food to others? That’s unsanitary. Eat it yourself."
Everyone: "..."
"Jett, you’re being too harsh. He’s just a child, how would he know all that?" Wendy Reeves said, protective of the boy.
Jett Sterling’s expression didn’t change. "If you want him to stay here, he has to follow my rules."
Wendy Reeves’s mouth twitched. "Fine, fine, fine."
She put on a smile. "Sweetie, Daddy is just looking out for you. It’s true you should use serving chopsticks to give food to others. But you’re still little, so you don’t need to serve anyone. Just focus on eating more yourself."
"Okay." Elle stared at Vivian Quinn, his eyes shining. "I like Vivian, so I want to give her food. I want to kiss her later, too."
Jett Sterling: "???"
"Kid, who taught you this stuff?"
"Nobody. I kiss whoever I like."
Everyone: "..."
Ian Sterling almost spat out his food. ’This kid’s got a wild streak! Nothing like my young uncle, he’s the silently-sultry type!’
Vivian Quinn doubled over with laughter.
Jett Sterling’s sharp, hawk-like eyes seized on Ian Sterling’s face. "You’ve got a death wish, hmm?"
Ian Sterling quickly buried his head in his food and didn’t dare make another sound.
"Master Sterling." Easton Rivers walked into the dining room and bowed his head. "I’ve found out who sent the child to Sycamore Bay."
