Chapter 387: A winner

When we arrived at the artifact gambling place, it seemed like there were already quite a few people that were already in the middle of it.

Some of these people had faint auras around them that showed that they were powerful cultivators.

Namely, these were people that were from the other sects that had come for the Demon Slaying Conference.

It seemed that many people had the same idea as the senior brothers and sisters, they all wanted to see if they could find a powerful artifact to help them in the Demon Valley.

The most important thing was their own lives after all.

If they could obtain something that could save their lives with money, they didn’t really care how much it cost.

But so far, it didn’t seem like anyone had really won anything.

I could tell from the auras that were released after the sealed objects were cracked that these things weren’t that strong. There were a few artifacts in the Qi Condensing Realm and the Foundation Realm, but they were in the minority.

Most of the artifacts that were revealed were in the Qi Gathering Realm, which were completely useless to these high level cultivators. They wouldn’t even be able to stop the enemies that these high level cultivators faced for even a second, so these things were completely useless to them.

It really didn’t seem like anyone had won a single thing from this place.

Perhaps that meant that this was a bad place to pick artifacts from, but it didn’t seem to stop people from picking out more sealed artifacts to crack.

I wasn’t in a rush to pick out anything as I just observed the process of artifact cracking.

I was surprised to find that most of the sealed artifacts were actually stones.

It seemed like the stone layer that was around the artifacts that were inside acted as a seal for the artifact, preventing its aura from leaking out and revealing what kind of artifact it was.

It really was just like jade gambling...

But I couldn’t understand why the artifacts were inside of these stones in the first place, so I couldn’t help asking the senior brother nearby, "Why are they in stones like this?"

He just looked at me and shook his head to say, "No one knows, that’s just how they are found."

"How they are found?" I was even more confused when I heard this.

If they were artifacts, why would they be found in stones like this? 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

It just didn’t make any sense at all.

The senior brother revealed a bitter smile as he said, "There’s no point in asking me about it, this is just what I’ve heard." Then after thinking about it, he added, "I’ve heard that they find them like this in the Demon Valley."

That just made me even more confused as I couldn’t help asking, "Then how do they tell them apart from normal stones?"

The senior brother thought about it again before saying, "Apparently, there are these special talismans that can detect the faint traces of spiritual energy coming from the stones. That tells them whether there are artifacts or not inside of these stones."

The more that I listened, the more questions filled my mind.

But the biggest question of all was...where did these stones come from in the first place?

It wasn’t as if artifacts would be formed in nature and then be sealed in stones like this, so there had to be someone doing it.

Was it the demonic sects that were doing this or was it something else?

It really didn’t seem to make any sense at all.

But I didn’t get to ask any other questions since there was a large commotion that happened.

There was a sudden burst of spiritual energy that came from one of the corners of the artifact gambling market.

When we turned to look in that direction, we found that there was already a large group that was already gathered around the place the spiritual energy was coming from. But at the same time, it seemed like there was a bright light that was coming from the center of that group.

This was most likely from the artifact that had been revealed that was releasing this powerful wave of spiritual energy.

We also made our way over to see what it was and when we came closer, we were able to tell what it was.

A Nascent Soul Realm Artifact.

As disciples of the Star Peak Sect, a second grade sect, we were naturally familiar with the aura of the Nascent Soul Realm. Even if we hadn’t reached the Nascent Soul Realm, there were many experts of this level in our sect, so we could tell what the aura of a Nascent Soul Realm Cultivator would be like.

This aura was coming from the dagger that had been revealed.

The one that had bought the sealed artifact had a face like he was over the moon at this discovery.

But at the same time, there were many people in the crowd that were looking at him as if he was some kind of prey. It was clear that they either wanted to take this artifact from him or they wanted to buy it from this person.

It didn’t take long for another group to come over and surround this person before one of them said, "Captain, it seems like your luck really is good."

The young man who had gotten the artifact said with a smile, "I guess you can say that I’m a winner in life."

The way that he said this was almost as if he was looking down on the people around him.

It seemed that he really was letting the fact that he got a Nascent Soul Realm Artifact go to his head, but then again, he did have the right to gloat since no one else had the same luck as him.

But seeing him like this, I couldn’t help giving a chuckle.

After all, if he knew the things that I could take out, then it would be hard to imagine what his reaction would be.

"Who dares to laugh?" The young man who obtained the Nascent Soul Realm Artifact suddenly spoke in a cold voice.
