Void Cultivation-Chapter 263
In the entire world, there had been no such thing as gods or divinity. There was only cultivation. But after the first god descended, many things changed.
The first war against the gods began.
Although the god that descended was one, the moment it appeared, it transformed into a multitude of gods with power as terrifying as the original.
The entire world was forced to face the gods. This war of gods lasted for several thousand years until the original god died. Its blood flowed and dyed a portion of the land golden.
But before its death, it cursed the world and caused the entire land to shatter and drift apart.
The five segments divided and drifted along the Dead Sea to become five continents. Three of them were close to each other, but the other two drifted far away and became unreachable, even if one reached a high level of cultivation.
It was as if they were not separated by distance, but by time and space itself.

After facing off against several red figures, Grey and the Captain gradually came to a stop. The giant head in the distance was no longer as far away as before.
But the distance was still quite considerable. The Captain turned her head to look at Grey. She then smiled softly before thrusting her spear into the distance.
Her spear flew like a stream of light and crashed into the sky. Immediately, a spatial crack appeared, and the spear disappeared into the crack.
This crack was very small and could not be compared to the large cracks in the sky that had appeared after the halberds descended. But the pressure they emanated was still the same.
"We’re almost there, little Grey. After we enter this crack, we will appear at our destination. I hope you’re ready!" The Captain’s voice was laced with anticipation, but her tone was still solemn.
Grey instinctively prepared himself for what was to come. After all, it was this event that they had been preparing for for a long time.
A second later, the Captain glanced at Grey before disappearing into the spatial crack. After seeing her do so, the last bit of reluctance in his heart dissipated, and he rushed into the already unstable spatial crack in the distance.
The moment his body entered, Grey felt as if he were being pulled by invisible hands from all directions. This feeling was very strange and incredibly uncomfortable. Grey even felt pressure on his body and internal organs.
However, his body was stronger than that of the average cultivator, so he only felt slightly uncomfortable.
In the void, Grey’s world was completely covered in darkness. However, there was a small source of light in the distance. His body was also falling toward this source of light.
As he fell closer, Grey could clearly discern what this source of light was. At the end of the spatial tunnel, Grey could see a huge concrete altar. This altar was completely white... as white as bone.
It emitted a dazzling light that pulled everything toward it. The moment he saw the altar, Grey’s thoughts churned. He remembered the Captain saying something about finding an altar of light.
’Could this... be the altar she was talking about?’ Grey asked himself inwardly. But as if the universe were reading his thoughts, he saw a small figure that was similarly flying toward the white altar with a solemn expression on her face.
For unknown reasons, or maybe because they jumped in at almost the same time, Grey quickly caught up to the Captain’s figure.
But as he got close, he saw the Captain turn her head slightly. Her appearance was still the same, but her expression was more solemn and even a little cold.
There was even a sense of decay and a faint aura of death around her. The moment Grey saw her, he felt that he was looking at an entirely different person, even though her appearance was the same.
At the same time, when she saw him, her expression changed to confusion and then understanding. This change was very swift and almost instantaneous. She opened her mouth to say something, but in the end, she didn’t say anything.
Grey did not understand what the Captain was feeling or what was happening, but in the next moment, her form shattered and she dissipated.
Grey’s heart was shaken to the core as he tried to understand what had just happened to the Captain. But as he was trying to comprehend it, a slender hand gently touched his shoulder.
Grey shuddered and turned to see the Captain. She was exactly the same, only that the gaze she used to look at Grey was slightly gentler.
This scene, in contrast with the cold expression he had seen from her before, caused Grey to be confused. As if sensing that he was about to ask something, she raised her hand and placed it on her lips, gesturing for him to stay silent.
Grey suppressed the confusion in his heart and looked at the gradually appearing altar in the distance.
The full size of the altar soon came into view, and its size was astonishing. It was over ten thousand feet tall and radiated a strong oppressive aura. Even without getting too close, Grey could feel a baleful aura falling upon him, making his entire body go cold with fear.
Just then, the Captain’s voice echoed in his mind.
"We’re traveling through space and time. There are some void creatures here that, once they sense our presence, will kill us with just a thought. Try to stay silent!" The Captain silently transmitted her voice.
Grey did not say anything, but he secretly agreed. When he looked around previously, although all he saw was endless darkness and a pitch-black abyss, he also felt that some truly bizarre creatures were moving around in this place.
The only reason they had not been attacked was because of the natural darkness of this place. If he made a sound or exposed himself in the slightest, he would die a truly terrible death before he even realized what had happened.
The Captain said that we’re traveling through time and space... Grey thought inwardly. But just as he was about to ask her...
They suddenly sped up.
In an instant, they appeared before the white altar. Almost the moment they arrived, they were violently ejected from the void and landed before the pale white altar.
The moment they stabilized themselves, Grey saw the spear that the Captain had thrown earlier. It lay on the ground near the altar. Although it was an inanimate object, it still shook and trembled as if it were withstanding an immense and invisible pressure.
Naturally, Grey and the Captain were also forced to endure the terrifying pressure emanating from the altar. A wave of nausea flooded their senses, and coupled with the oppressive aura radiating from the pale white structure, they felt like insignificant beasts standing before a great tiger.
Now that they were closer, Grey could clearly discern that the altar before them was indeed pale white, and it appeared to have been constructed from countless bones of various creatures.
The bones themselves were what emitted the oppressive aura. It was obvious that many powerful beings had been killed, and their skeletal remains had fused together to form this altar.
Even Grey and the Captain felt pressured simply by standing near it.
But that was not all.
The white altar, formed from fused bones, emitted a bright and steady light that spread in all directions, illuminating the surrounding darkness.
When Grey looked around, he discovered that they were standing at the edge of a vast platform. Beyond the platform stretched a world filled with galaxies and countless stars.
Grey did not know whether they were real or merely illusions, but the feeling they gave him was incredibly realistic. It was so vivid that he felt as though he were gazing down upon innumerable worlds beneath his feet.
The ten-thousand-foot altar of bones stood at the center of the wide platform, which extended endlessly into the distance.
Shockingly, atop the altar sat a headless corpse in a cross-legged position.
The corpse was incomparably massive, almost completely covering the altar beneath it. Countless ghosts drifted in and out of its body, letting out heart-wrenching wails that echoed faintly across the platform.
When they had first arrived, Grey had not noticed the corpse because his attention had been fixed on the altar itself. But now that his heart had calmed and his thoughts had settled, he naturally saw what stood before him.
Although the corpse appeared to be seated firmly on the altar, its figure was blurry and indistinct, as though it did not fully exist in this space.
The corpse had four arms. Two additional arms extended from beneath the first pair, giving it an even more grotesque and unnatural appearance.
As Grey stared at the headless corpse, a deep sense of trepidation filled his heart. An overwhelming feeling of life-and-death crisis descended upon him, causing his breathing to become slightly hurried.
The Captain, who stood beside him, experienced the same pressure.
However, the gaze she used to look at the corpse was different.
Aside from anticipation and caution, there was another emotion hidden within her eyes.
After some time passed, the life-and-death crisis Grey felt did not actually manifest. He realized that the sensation must have been passively triggered by the corpse’s mere presence.
It was at this moment that the Captain chose to speak.
Her expression was clear and focused as she spoke quickly. A bright glint appeared in her eyes, one that Grey immediately recognized as madness.
"Now that we’re here, it’s finally safe for me to tell you what this major plan is about," she said in a low voice.
"We’re going to steal the eyes of a Soul Ascendancy Realm expert."
Grey’s body shuddered violently. Loud bangs exploded inside his head, as if several bolts of lightning had struck him at the same time.
For a moment, he thought he had misheard her.
Slowly, his gaze lifted toward the headless corpse seated atop the altar.
And for the first time, he wondered if the most dangerous thing here... might not be the corpse.
