Global Game: Developing a Knight Clan-Chapter 202 - 169: Pseudo-Saints and Pseudo-Demigods, the Path to Godhood is Not Simple
’A Demigod’s projection? Is that all?’
’Completely underwhelming.’
This was Lince’s assessment of the Demigod’s projection.
After all, the moment Lince arrived, he had immediately spotted the weakness in the Giant Demon Demigod’s projection.
Lince could see shimmering, thread-like strands of light extending from the projection’s body into the void of space.
Seeing this, Lince instantly tried to seal off the space and attack.
To his surprise, that simple attempt directly severed the connection between the projection and its true body.
After that, there wasn’t much more to say.
Lince just used his standard space-collapse technique, without even exerting his full power.
’Unbelievable.’
’Gone!’
’Is that all?’
’Without the support of its main body, is a Demigod’s projection really only a few times stronger than a Saint Tier?’
’A Demigod... a Demigod is still half a Deity, after all.’
’But its performance in the mortal realm was so pathetic.’
’It seems the restrictions Deities face in the mortal realm are truly immense.’
By this point in time, Lince had already learned quite a bit about Demigods.
So-called Demigods were essentially beings who had condensed Divinity but had not yet ignited their Divine Fire.
Of course, on the Oakland Continent, there were also two paths to becoming a Demigod.
The first path was for ordinary mortals. In ancient times, they would hunt Innate Elemental Creatures. By using the refined Elemental Cores from within these creatures, they could condense their Soul Will Power and ascend to the Saint Tier.
A Saint Tier being of this kind could then continue their Meditation Cultivation while comprehending the Heaven and Earth Laws.
They would then condense their own Divinity.
Once their Divinity was condensed, such a Saint Tier being could be considered half a Deity.
To truly become a Deity, they would naturally need to continuously solidify their Divinity, as well as understand and apply the Divinity Law.
Once all preparations were complete, they could then perform the final ritual of Ascension to Divinity.
This involved igniting the Divine Fire and gaining complete mastery over the Law corresponding to their Divinity.
And thus, a Deity was born.
This was the orthodox path to godhood for the Deities of the Oakland Continent in ancient times.
But clearly, the Oakland Continent, now lacking Innate Elemental Creatures, had developed a second path: the path of the Pseudo-God.
This was for beings at Tier Nine Peak to use a Deity’s Divine Power to strengthen their Soul Will Power, thereby entering the Saint Tier.
However, a Saint Tier created this way could, at best, only be considered a Pseudo-Saint Tier.
This was because Saint Tier beings on this path required a continuous supply of Divine Power from a Deity to maintain their Soul Will Power.
If they missed the periodic baptism of Divine Power, their souls would easily be assimilated by the elements, leading to their demise.
Moreover, those who reached the Saint Tier by relying on Divine Power had no room for further advancement.
Such Saint Tier beings would forever remain in the ’Primary Stage’ of their tier.
They were completely incomparable to those who had achieved the Saint Tier through their own efforts.
And if a Pseudo-Saint wished to become a Demigod, their only option was to rely on even greater boons from a Deity.
Therefore, for a Pseudo-Saint to become a Demigod, they first had to be brought into a Divine Kingdom by a Deity. There, they would receive a larger share of the Deity’s Divine Power, allowing them to enter the realm of a Pseudo-Demigod.
These were the two known paths on the Oakland Continent.
Thus, among Lince’s current Saint Tier subordinates, nearly all of them—with the exception of Amos—were Pseudo-Saints.
Even the Forest Giant Elephant, which had obtained a diluted Dragon Race Bloodline, had only had its lifespan extended; its Power was still only at the Primary Stage of the Saint Tier.
So, all in all... 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
As things stood, the group of Saint Tiers under Lince’s command were actually quite pitifully weak.
As for the Saint Tiers and Demigods of the Giant Demon Empire, what was their situation?
Based on the intelligence gathered so far, their paths of advancement were largely the same as those on the Oakland Continent.
The only difference was that although the Giant Demon Empire had its share of Pseudo-Saints, it also had powerful Saint Tier beings who had advanced normally.
This had been confirmed by the many High Tier Giant Demons Lince had previously captured.
Within the Giant Demon Empire, many took the shortcut, relying on a Deity’s power to reach the Saint Tier.
They accounted for about eighty percent of the total.
Only twenty percent were Saint Tiers who had advanced normally, aiming to achieve Ascension to Divinity step-by-step through their own power.
These individuals were undoubtedly major figures within the Giant Demon Empire—influential, and even daring enough to risk their lives.
After all, forgoing shortcuts and reliance on Deities was a perilous path. To reach the Saint Tier this way, one had to completely achieve Elementalization of the body. The breakthrough process carried an extremely high risk of death, and everything came down to personal will.
This was even more true for becoming a Demigod.
Therefore, those who followed the normal path, relying entirely on themselves to ascend to the Saint Tier and then to Demigod, were undoubtedly individuals of great fortune and immense courage.
And only such beings were qualified to become Deities!
After all, Pseudo-Saints and Pseudo-Demigods were beings who had already forfeited their chance at godhood to become Vassals to a Deity.
Also known as Divine Attendants.
As for the Giant Demon Demigod Lince had just encountered, he didn’t know if it was a Pseudo-Demigod.
But judging from the power of its projection alone, if this was a Demigod on the path to independent godhood, then the threat it posed to Lince was pitifully small.
Of course, Lince wouldn’t underestimate a Demigod.
After all, he had only encountered the Demigod’s projection so far.
If the Demigod’s true body were to pay the great price for a Descent into the mortal realm, its actual power would be difficult to judge.
But as things stood, Lince wasn’t exactly afraid.
After all, it was still anyone’s game.
"I am Priest Kaven of the Sea Goddess. Thank you for your deliverance, Your Excellency."
"Might I ask your name, Your Excellency? And are you an enemy of the Giant Demons?"
