Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations-Chapter 1067: Desolate in Contrast
"Oh my, I just have to say it again, dear heavens! I, Hailey Hale, have definitely married the right person in this lifetime!"
"Hahahaha!"
"..."
The two of them had just visited the mall, buying a lot of items needed for the festival.
They also got ingredients for the picnic planned for tomorrow afternoon.
Once in the living room, Hailey happily checked the list, "Let me see what else we might need. We must have everything ready by tomorrow morning."
There were about forty to fifty large bags spread across the carpet. It was clear she was really looking forward to the picnic, "Everyone’s been busy lately; it’s been a while since we’ve gathered."
"Here, here, my dear, have some tea. You’ve worked hard!" Finn Morgan was very considerate.
"Thank you, darling!" Hailey opened her mouth as she was fed, without moving her hands at all.
Watching her slowly come out of her shell day by day, Finn felt truly happy inside.
Time, sometimes, is the best medicine, enabling people to accept sudden blows and fortify their hearts.
Tonight, Riventhal was bustling like never before, with all sizes of malls open 24/7, streets and alleys adorned with red lanterns, alongside the ubiquitous 3D pictures of Chang’e flying to the moon.
It exuded a strong festive atmosphere.
All kinds of mooncakes had become the best-tasting snacks on the streets, with some well-reviewed shops even having queues.
The dazzling lights seemed brighter than ever.
The moon in the sky was clear and full, just like in ancient poetry, a grand jade platter!
On Wutong Road, in the villa prepared by Lydia Ingram, which was her only remaining property.
Compared to the festive air outside, it felt much cooler here.
The large villa had countless rooms, yet only the living room on the first floor was lit.
Monica Usher stood at the living room entrance, her gaunt face expressionless, one hand on the door frame, the other gently caressing her pregnant belly.
She looked up at the sky at that round moon, another year of the reunion festival, yet she felt increasingly lonely.
Recalling last year’s Mid-Autumn Festival at Clearwater Bay with Justin Kingston, celebrating with the aunt, making dumplings, crafting mooncakes... it felt like something from the last century.
Thinking of Justin, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of bittersweet sorrow.
She missed him a bit.
The kind of intense longing where her whole mind revolved around him, desperately wanting to see him.
"Ms. Usher, the wind has picked up." Mrs. Goldman brought a light coat over, gently placing it on her shoulders.
Monica slowly turned her gaze, clutching the hands on her shoulders, "I want to go out for a walk." Her voice was slightly hoarse from not speaking for a while.
"Now?" Mrs. Goldman was worried and reminded her, "It’s already evening."
"..." Monica just looked at her, not saying anything.
In the end, Mrs. Goldman relented, "Alright, I’ll accompany you." As Ms. Usher hadn’t made any requests in ages, she hadn’t even spoken a word in a week.
She seemed depressed, always shutting herself in a small world, lost in thoughts unknown.
The night’s breeze was gentle, carrying the fragrance of wildflowers from the roadside.
Monica stepped outside, cautiously descending the steps, her hands gently stroking her belly.
She held high hopes for this child.
She wasn’t aware of recent occurrences outside, as she hadn’t watched the news.
Mrs. Goldman followed five meters behind to avoid disturbing her.
Walking without knowing for how long, Monica reached Emerald Cove, stopping at the courtyard gate, gazing at the brightly lit villa.
This was the place of her dreams, watching the light spilling from there, imagining the laughter within, she couldn’t help but let out a sorrowful smile.
Seeing this scene, Mrs. Goldman felt a bit heavy-hearted.
She stepped back a few steps, pulling out her phone to call Justin Kingston, feeling slightly nervous as she awaited the call to connect.
