Chapter 151: A Grave Sin

"Why is it so hard to see you?" Dai Shuo said as he sat opposite Tao Luqi in a restaurant.

Tao Luqi smiled softly and said, "It’s all my father’s fault, he wants me to handle his project with the Fu group, he didn’t even take in the fact that I have a business to run."

"How would he know, you never told him that your work was selected for the spring collection and you will finally be working for Gem World, ever since I knew you that has been your dream." Dai Shuo said with a proud smile.

"Well, I never once doubted that I could join them, after all, I’m the best." Tao Luqi said proudly.

Dai Shuo laughed softly and sighed as he looked at Tao Luqi, after four years of pursuing her, this woman was finally going to become his.

"Does Tao Mei know that she is finally going to have a father?" Dai Shuo asked with a soft smile as he thought of the three-year-old who does nothing but bring a smile to his face whenever he meets her.

"I...I haven’t told her yet." Tao Luqi said and the feeling of guilt rested heavily on her chest.

Dai Shuo felt uncomfortable with her answer, he couldn’t help but ask "You don’t regret saying yes, right?" Before he could get her reply, he finally noticed her empty finger and said "You are not wearing the ring."

Tao Luqi noticed her finger and quietly withdrew it from the table, she saw the hurt in Dai Shuo’s eyes and said "It’s not what you think. The ring was too tight, so I put it off for a while, I must have forgotten to wear it back. And as for telling Tao Mei about our engagement, I just haven’t found the time to tell her."

Dai Shuo let out a sigh of relief, he was already having so many negative thoughts. He knew Tao Luqi did not love him yet, but he was going to change that very soon. He will ensure that the only man who will be in her heart will be no one else but him.

Tao Luqi felt bad for lying, in fact lying had been all she has been doing after saying yes to Dai Shuo. To be honest, the real reason she removed the ring was because she felt wrong wearing it and it was not as if she has never thought of telling Tao Mei that Dai Shuo would soon become her father, infact she had once tried to tell her daughter, but those words refused to leave her mouth. She felt as if she was committing a grave sin by telling Tao Mei that Dai Shuo would be her father.

"Sorry if it felt as if I was pressuring you, you can take your time in telling Tao Mei about the new development. And as for the ring, I will get you a new one, there is no need to force yourself to wear something so tight. It’s my fault, I should have measured your finger before buying the ring."

"It’s alright. Now let’s talk about something else, the atmosphere suddenly feels heavy." Tao Luqi said hoping to change the topic but that hope was shattered when Dai Shuo said.

"My parents want to have dinner with you, they would like you to choose a day that you will be free." Dai Shuo said, he wanted to let it out before she changed the conversation. He had a feeling that if he didn’t put any pressure on her then she would slip out of his fingers.

"Your parents? You have already told them?" Tao Luqi asked in surprise. Though Dai Shuo’s parents were lovely, that doesn’t mean she would love to sit through a whole meal with them talking about marriage. Just what has she gotten herself into? What exactly causes her to say yes? Perhaps it was his sincerity in pursuing her for four years.

"My mom was elated when she found out about our engagement, she can’t wait to have you join the family." Dai Shuo said in excitement.

Tao Luqi smiled and said, "Well, your mom has always loved me."

"And she isn’t the only one." Dai Shuo said, mesmerized by her smile. There was no doubt that he was deeply in love with the woman before him.

Tao Luqi on the other hand pretended not to notice his gaze and called the waiter, what better way to avoid a conversation than getting drunk?

....

Fu Mansion

"How sure are you that she is Yang Meiyi?" Old Master Fu asked Butler Xia.

Bulter Xia sighed and said "I think the young master thinks it’s her, but I do not believe that it is her. Though her body was damaged to the point that even a DNA test could not be taken but Fu Mingze’s necklace was on her neck, who else would it have been if not for the young Madam Fu."

"But what if....."

"That it was another body? What if someone had saved her and maybe the body with Fu Mingze’s necklace wasn’t the young madam? I think those thoughts are just our wishful thinking, master Fu and if the young master doesn’t realize it then he and our little prince are going to get hurt.

Grandpa Fu sighed and before he could say anything there was a loud knock on his study.

"Come in." Grandpa Fu said loudly.

Fu Mingze opened the door with a sleeping Fu Liang in his arms and said "Your great grandson who was excited to see you has fallen asleep before even getting here."

Grandpa Fu smiled when he saw his great-grandson "He looks like an angel when sleeping, no one would ever guess that he is a little tyrant."

Fu Mingze chuckled and said, "You said you wanted to speak to me, what is it about?"

Grandpa Fu cleared his throat and said "Give Fu Liang to Bulter Xia, I would like to speak to you alone."

Fu Mingze sighed and passed his son to Butler Xia but not without kissing the little boy on his forehead.

Grandpa Fu smiled when he saw his actions, years ago if anyone had told him that his grandson would ever become soft or even show his affection for another publicly, he would have laughed at that person’s face but Yang Meiyi came and changed everything, and even after she is gone, she still left a piece of herself for his grandson to forever hold on to.

Butler Xia nodded and left with a sleeping Fu Liang in his arms.

After Butler Xia left, Fu Mingze looked at his grandfather and said "So tell me, what is it you wanted to talk about?".

"About Tao Luqi."
