Transmigration; A Mother's Redemption and a perfect Wife.-Chapter 440; Honeymoon phase 4 (k)
"Get some rest," he murmured, his voice rough with restraint.
Tang Fei blinked up at him in confusion, her lips still swollen from his kisses. "You aren’t eating anymore?"
As much as he hungered for her, and he did, with an intensity that burned through his veins like wildfire, he had thoroughly exploited her body last night. He was certain she was still sore, still tender in places that made walking uncomfortable.
"Aren’t you still sore?" he whispered gently, his eyes already closing as exhaustion finally caught up with him.
Just like that, he fell asleep.
Tang Fei lay there for a moment, stunned by the sudden turn of events. This man, who had just sentenced someone to death by a shark, who had carried her to their room with clear intent burning in his eyes, had simply... stopped. And fell asleep?
She sighed loudly, a sound caught between exasperation and tender affection. Carefully, she tucked the blanket around his shoulders, making sure he was comfortable. His face in sleep looked younger, less dangerous, almost peaceful.
Then she slipped out of bed and padded to the bathroom.
The shower was luxurious, with multiple jets, a rainfall head, and a temperature perfectly calibrated. She stood under the hot water for a long time, letting it soothe muscles she hadn’t realized were tense. The events of the evening played through her mind: the confrontation in the corridor, Lin Shu’s terrified eyes, the satisfying crunch of women’s fists against that monster’s face, her husband’s cold pronouncement of death.
She should probably feel guilty about that last part.
She didn’t.
After drying off and slipping into one of the plush robes that had been meticulously prepared by her husband, Tang Fei emerged to find Huo Ting Cheng still deeply asleep, his chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm.
The underwater suite was magnificent. Floor-to-ceiling windows revealed the illuminated ocean depths, where schools of tropical fish darted past in flashes of color. A sea turtle drifted by, ancient and serene. In the distance, the darker shapes of larger creatures moved through the blue.
Tang Fei settled onto the curved sofa that faced the windows, tucking her legs beneath her. She pulled out her phone and began taking photos and videos from different angles, the way the underwater lights created patterns on the ceiling, the fish that seemed curious about the strange glass structure in their domain, the way the water itself seemed to glow with bioluminescent life.
She took a video of Huo Ting Cheng sleeping, his handsome face relaxed and vulnerable in a way he’d never allow while awake. That one was just for her.
Outside, the ocean breathed its ancient rhythm.
Inside, Tang Fei smiled and kept recording, preserving these stolen moments of peace before their complicated, dangerous, beautiful life called them back.
THE RIDE HOME
Meanwhile, several hundred miles away, a sleek black van navigated the evening traffic toward the Huo mansion.
Minghao sat in the back seat, her small legs dangling above the floor, her school bag tucked beside her. The phone felt large in her six-year-old hands, still warm from the video call with her parents.
"You were worried for no reason at all. See? They’re fine and having their own vacation far away." Qin Xinyu could tell the two had run away, leaving everyone behind for their romantic getaway.
After all, he wasn’t a naive kid like Minghao. At fourteen, he understood things from a far more adult perspective.
"Hehehe... that’s true! I was worrying for nothing..." Minghao had magnificently calmed down, knowing they were out there having their own moments and weren’t in trouble. Even if they didn’t show up for her activities, she would be content so long as they weren’t fighting.
The video call was still active, though her parents had disconnected. Her brothers’ faces still filled the screen.
"Hao’er, did you see what Momma was wearing? Did Daddy buy that or did Mommy choose it herself?" Feihao asked curiously, his eyebrows raised in that way that meant he was analyzing something.
"That can’t be Father’s choice. It had to be Mommy’s, and you should know, Daddy can’t fight with her about anything. He always agrees and goes along with whatever she wants." Zhihao spoke with certainty, though doubt flickered in his eyes. That man, his father, was something else entirely. He was far too possessive to let her wear something so revealing.
"The most important thing is that they’re okay and have nothing serious going on between them," Tinghao spoke up, stopping them from going deeper into speculation. "These are our parents. We have to respect them."
"How is school? Is it as usual or challenging?" Zhihao’s tone shifted to concern. He was worried that Minghao might not be able to catch up with the others after her three-month stint at the military academy, a place where she’d discovered she couldn’t adapt.
Not only had she been bullied and attacked, but she’d also been mentally overwhelmed by such an environment. She’d had to return to the regular academy, and none of them blamed her for it.
"It’s good! Qin Xinyu is here with me, and you know, there’s no bullying here." Minghao’s voice brightened with genuine happiness.
This was Huo Ting Cheng’s establishment. He had created this school purposely for his children, refusing to send them anywhere he couldn’t control. Here, there was no bullying, no superiority complexes. Everyone was equal, whether they were sponsored students or paying full tuition. The only distinction was academic performance, nothing else mattered.
"That’s good. Qin Xinyu, take care of her while at school," Zhihao directed his attention to the older boy. "And how do you see it? Is it conducive? Nice?"
Qin Xinyu had changed schools specifically to attend. This institution was prestigious beyond measure, without money or sponsorship, you wouldn’t even get close to the gates. It was the number one-ranked school in the world, with students from every continent, many of them international.
"Good. More than I expected, actually." Qin Xinyu’s gratitude was evident in his voice. "This is thanks to Auntie Tang."
