Chapter 441: Chapter 441; Honeymoon phase 4 (l)

He was grateful that his mother had chosen to work in the Huo household as their nanny. It had given him privileges he’d never dreamed of.

"Glad to hear you’re enjoying your studies!" The brothers were genuinely happy for him. The best part was that Qin Xinyu was exceptionally smart, he’d earned his place there beyond just connections.

"Actually, Minghao and I will be having a Debate Contest this weekend. It’s an International Students Competition, and we’re participating as a pair." Qin Xinyu’s voice carried both excitement and nervousness. "Don’t know if you guys would be around."

This was his first debate, his first major project, and partnering with Minghao felt both exciting and daunting. He hoped they would nail it. Part of him wanted to ask his mother to attend, but that would mean she’d have to leave her work position. He couldn’t be the reason she got fired.

"All right, we’ll come home this weekend even though we didn’t have it planned," Tinghao responded immediately, warmth filling his voice. "It’s important that we see you guys nail that project!"

The support in his tone was absolute.

"Do you think they would come?" Minghao asked worriedly, though she tried to sound calm, not mad or sad, just cautiously hopeful.

"Daddy said they would show up, so don’t worry," Zhihao assured her with the confidence of someone who knew his father well. "He always keeps his promises unless an emergency occurs. But apart from that, they won’t miss it."

Even though their father was grumpy and cold, he never missed anything concerning them. That was one thing they could always count on.

"Yeah! How is the military? Anything different?" Minghao exhaled loudly, visibly calming down at her brother’s reassurance.

"Nothing much. The training will be more intense next week, but all is good," Zhihao reported matter-of-factly. "I just miss Momma."

All three boys had already adapted to military life. They didn’t find anything particularly different or difficult about it, it was simply their reality now.

"Oohh... we’ll be together again this weekend!" Minghao’s voice turned slightly shy. "I actually enrolled myself in foreign language classes."

There was a pause. Then Zhihao’s frown was almost visible through the phone.

"Why would you stress yourself like that? Just learn English. That’s enough." His tone carried concern, as if he was wondering if she was having problems with her self-esteem again.

"Actually, I want to be useful too," Minghao explained, her voice small but determined. "Learning several languages can help me in many places. I want to do well, just like you guys."

Since her brothers were excelling in the military, she wanted to excel in academics and perhaps business in the future. She didn’t want to let her parents down. If her siblings were doing well in their paths, she didn’t want to be the one who fell behind.

"Just take things easy. Don’t overwork and overwhelm yourself," Feihao spoke with gentle indirectness. "You know Mommy loves you exactly the way you are. You don’t need to prove anything to anyone. Just be you."

It wasn’t that they didn’t appreciate her initiative, they just wanted her to be happy being herself.

"I’ll make you all proud," Minghao insisted, her determination shining through. "Qin Xinyu is also taking classes with me."

Qin Xinyu nodded, even though they couldn’t see him. Learning more languages was an advantage he couldn’t pass up.

"All right, but your health comes first," Tinghao sighed loudly, relenting. He knew when to let his sister make her own choices.

"All right! Take care of yourselves too. Make sure to chat with me later, okay?" Minghao blew kisses at the screen before hanging up.

The van had already arrived at the mansion and was now parked in the circular driveway.

She grabbed her school bag and rushed out of the vehicle, her small feet carrying her quickly toward the entrance. Qin Xinyu followed at a more measured pace, his longer legs easily keeping up with him.

"Hello, Nanny Yun! I’ll be in my bedroom!" Minghao called out cheerfully as she bounded through the foyer and up the grand staircase to the first floor.

Halfway up, she came across Qing Qing, who had been planning to go downstairs.

"Hello, Qing Qing! How was your day?" Minghao placed her hand across her friend’s shoulders, and together they turned back toward the bedroom.

"It was good! And yours? How was school?" Qing Qing asked happily, matching Minghao’s energy perfectly.

"Was good too!" Minghao responded as they entered the bedroom.

She placed her school bag on the designated shelf, removed her books and notebooks, and then deposited her uniform into the laundry basket. After changing into comfortable home clothes, she headed straight for the bathroom to take a shower, already chattering to Qing Qing about her day.

Meanwhile, downstairs, Qin Xinyu had paused in the sitting area where his mother was arranging fresh flowers.

"Hello, Ma. How was your day?" He walked over and gently took her hand, placing a respectful kiss on the back of it, a gesture of affection she’d taught him years ago.

"I’m good, my dear! How was school? Did anything happen?" Nanny Yun’s face lit up with maternal warmth. She took his school bag from him, intending to carry it to his room.

"It was good, Mom. You don’t need to stress yourself, I can carry that." He reached for the bag, but she pulled it away with a smile. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

His adoptive mother truly doted on him, and he was grateful for it every single day.

"I know you can, but let me." She linked her arm through his, escorting him toward their quarters. "I’m glad you’re enjoying the new school."

After these past two days, she could see that her son looked genuinely happy and was actually looking forward to going to school each morning, something that hadn’t always been true in the past.

"What’s the matter with Young Miss?" she asked, her voice carrying a note of concern. "She seems quite different."

"She just talked to her parents, and that’s why she’s happy now," Qin Xinyu explained reassuringly. "You don’t have to worry about anything."
