The soft music could be heard throughout the house but no noise could be heard at the same time again.

The tapping sound of someone using the phone could be heard and the culprit happened to be Merita whose speed at typing was simply crazy that Neal took his hat off for her.

Neal didn’t disturb his elder sister and simply sat on the side and waited for her to finish but his trembling hands betrayed him as it showed how anxious he was at the moment.

This moment can be considered to be a breaking point, especially for his sister and he wanted her to be happy.

Neal was very proud of his elder sister, from day one she has always been there for him and he was grateful for that.

He remembered the night when everything came back to him, all the memories that had been forgotten flooded his mind making him almost go berserk.

Whenever he recalled how his sister trusted him and jumped down that cliff with him to save their lives even though the chances of survival were little, he was glad that the two of them were still alive and doing well.

Seeing her so happy and doing things that she loves; he couldn’t be cruel to remind her of the past she has forgotten. He didn’t want her to remember how they were chased, how they lost those closest to them, and how they landed in this situation.

As long as she is happy and doing things that she loves, he was going to shoulder all responsibility, get strong and one day he was going to get his revenge.

He has a lot to lose now and he didn’t want to be reckless anymore. Alayna is a loving mother and her love for them, he can see it and he is greedy for it. He feels sorry for his deceased parents but there is nothing that he can do anymore.

He will be selfish for once, love Alayna and protect her in the future although she doesn’t want it, and avenge his family’s death.

For now, he was going to be by their side, watch his beloved sister fulfilling her dreams, she was suited to doing things like this than fighting.

Ever since they talked about writing novels, it was basically Merita doing the writing, he was practically in charge of writing the business plans according to customers’ wishes.

Since they were given phones, they could do a lot with them and this included writing novels as all.

Merita came across a platform looking for writers and she was inspired. She had been thinking about it for a long time and managed to convince Alayna after a long time.

She had been writing for a while now and as it was much easier to record while the system writes for you, something they learnt after interacting with some online friends a while ago, Merita had been doing exactly that.

Merita was in the middle of talking with an editor who liked her book and was willing to sign her. So, she had been talking to the other for some time now and as a brother, he was anxiously waiting for the response.

The sound of tapping finally came to an end and Merita looked at Neal with an excited expression.

"What is it? Tell me!" Neal urged his sister as he also couldn’t wait to hear what the response was.

"They are willing to sign me, ahhhhhhhhhhh, it’s like a dream. It’s really happening!" Merita was so excited that she hugged Neal.

He hugged her in return with a bright smile on his face, "I am very proud of you sis. So, when are you signing?"

Merita pulled from the hug and pouted as she looked at Neal, "I need mom’s consent since I am a minor. So, I need to wait for her to return and talk to her. Do you think that she will agree?"

Neal smiled and patted her head confidently, "you should know her by now, since she agreed that day it means that she will agree in the future as well. Just be straight with her, I can assure you that she will be happy to hear this news."

"I will be happy with what?"

The kids jumped from the couch and looked at Alayna who had just come into the house with a confused expression on her face.

It’s not like she wanted to eavesdrop but she couldn’t help but overhear some of their conversations when she entered the house.

"Mom~~~~~~~~~"

"Hahaha, did I scare you guys? Sorry about that, you were too engrossed that you didn’t hear me," Alayna laughed sheepishly seeing how she scared the kids with her abrupt entrance.

Neal smiled at Alayna as his heart calmed down, "it’s okay mom, we have good news for you. Come and sit down with us."

Alayna loves good news the most so she didn’t linger for long and sat down between the kids as she wanted them by her side, "come on, quick, tell me. What is it?"

Merita winked at her brother as a way of saying thanks before turning to Alayna, "mom, do you remember when we talked about novels?"

Alayna nodded her head as this issue was still fresh in her memory, after all, she had been waiting for a long time to read what they were writing but hadn’t heard anything from them yet, "yes, I do remember. Did you write anything yet?"

Her crisp and excited voice could be heard in the room and the kids were relieved to see this, "yes, I wrote something and I am still writing."

"That’s good then, you should show it to me. I am very excited to read what you wrote," Alayna meant every word she said.

She was never good at writing things so knowing that her daughter could write, she was very proud as a mother.

"Umm, I will show you but this is not the real issue. You see ….. the thing is, umm, an editor found my book and is interested in signing me. They sent me the contract but since I am a minor, I need you to give your consent and help me sign," Merita shyly spoke as she looked at Alayna nervously.

Alayna heard a bomb in her mind exploding but no cloud of smoke was seen but fireworks were seen. She could even hear the angels singing in her head, as hilarious as it was, she was simply so mind blown that she was going crazy.

She held Merita’s small hands in hers with teary eyes, still not believing what she had just heard, "honey, can you repeat that again? Your story is getting signed. You are not joking right?"

Merita became affected by Alayna’s enthusiasm and tears were streaming down her cheeks as well.

Neal didn’t know what to do with these two and simply sat there while meditating to calm down, as a man there was no way he was going to cry.

"Umm, that’s true. I am really getting signed, so mom, can you take a look?"

Alayna was someone who never thought of getting married when she found herself in this world but she didn’t want to die lonely so adopting kids solved that problem.

Although the kids were not borne from her womb, they are still her kids and when they do something great, she is affected as she is their mother and seeing your children soaring high like an eagle and achieving great things, is every mom’s dream.

She was very happy about this and as a mother she was really proud, "sure darling I will take a look."

Merita moved very swiftly and handed her phone over to Alayna who began to read through the contract. Contracts were tricky and if you don’t read them, you will be trapped by them.

Although she had not read the story yet she believed that her child was a genius and she will make her name well known in the future.

They were planning on signing exclusively with her so Alayna was most concerned with the benefits they will give her.

In the contract, it was written that after signing the contract Merita can earn 10 IGP (Inter-galaxy points) monthly for four months which is a currency used on this inter-galaxy online network.

10 IGP was a lot of money actually, especially for kids, it was enough to buy snacks worth a month and if an adult like her were to buy something online, she will also buy something worth it.

She also understood that Merita was a newcomer so her earnings weren’t much but there was also a 50% profit share which was a relief for her. The benefits were lucrative and she didn’t mind her child signing this at all.

"You can sign it and I will provide my details to you. However, you need to understand that for the next four months you need to upload daily or you will forfeit your bonus, you understand right?" Alayna wanted to make sure that Merita understand everything before signing.

Merita nodded her head with conviction, "I know mom and I will not play with this."

"That’s good then, I will be looking forward to more great things from you. Since you have chosen this path then take it seriously and pour your heart into it and make us proud!" Alayna felt emotional as she talked to her kid.

"I will not let you all down."

"That’s good then," Alayna sighed with relief before taking her kids in her arms for a family hug.

It was another day to remember for the West’s family and more similar days were going to come in the future.
